Though some can argue that Visions is pretty much it, LEGO has stepped up to bring SW fans their alternate reality fix.

Check out the teaser for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy:

The gist is essentially something ‘rebuilds’ the Star Wars LEGO universe, and we get all kinds of mix-ups, not just with planets, but with ships and factions as well, with X-Wing TIE Fighters and AT-ATs which look to belong to the Rebellion.

LEGO Star Wars fans will also recognize ‘Jedi Bob’, a running gag among collectors since 2002 when LEGO released a set for a Republic Gunship and it came with a nameless Jedi which fans had lovingly called ‘Bob.’ They even have him keeping the classic yellow skin of the older SW sets.

Interestingly enough, Jedi Bob will be voiced by Bobby Moynihan:

With Lucasfilm being pretty strict with the Star Wars continuity, LEGO has been picking up the slack when it comes to more outrageous projects. They took over the Holiday Specials to branch out and cover other events like Halloween, and now they’re giving fans the What If/Star Wars series they’ve been clamouring for.

Let’s hope that Darth Jar Jar is just at the tip of the iceberg for this silly AU. I’d love some more ST-era characters to come back.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy premieres on Disney+ on Sept. 13.

LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian Halloween Special Incoming? https://www.geekfeed.com/lego-star-wars-mandalorian-halloween-special/ Sun, 30 Jul 2023 07:53:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77983 Star Wars is currently gearing up for the release of Ahsoka on Disney+, but we are getting a show that’s closer to the sillier side of things with another LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special.

As per Bespin Bulletin, a booth at SDCC 2023 had revealed an upcoming LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special dubbed Mandoween, and it will follow the LEGO version of Din Djarin and Grogu as they come across some spooky tales from a Galaxy Far Far Away.

Though the LEGO Star Wars specials were usually based around holidays like Christmas, this branch of SW has been known to cover other holidays including LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation and the Halloween-based LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales.

Though the LEGO Star Wars specials aren’t considered to be part of canon, they do have an interesting place in newer Star Wars material in that they focus on characters in the Sequel Trilogy. Though we have no idea what happens to Rey after The Rise of Skywalker, the LEGO specials do hint at her teaching Finn how to be a Jedi; we also get some backstory on Ben Solo which may as well could have happened in the actual canon (albeit with a few changes).

With Mandoween, we should expect the timeline to be pushed back to the Original Trilogy, but the nature of these specials has always been to cover all Star Wars eras. Maybe we can have a clue as to what Mando will be up to during the Sequel era?

LEGO Star Wars: Mandoween has not been officially revealed, but you can catch the other LEGO Star Wars Holiday Specials now streaming on Disney+.

Check Out BTS Look at Michael Rooker from the GOTG Holiday Special https://www.geekfeed.com/bts-michael-rooker-from-the-gotg-holiday-special/ Sat, 03 Dec 2022 13:26:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72266 Yondu may have died in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but he was able to make an appearance in the GOTG Holiday Special. Though the sequence was animated, Michael Rooker actually came back to shoot the scene himself.

This was shared by director James Gunn on Twitter:

Though they didn’t have to paint Rooker blue for the part anymore, we do get to see that he had to wear his costume from the Guardians films. Opposite Rooker is Luke Klein, whose face was altered during the animation to make it look closer to the young Quill we see in the films.

Some fans had also thought that the toy we see Rooker hold is a reference to Grogu from The Mandalorian, but Gunn confirms that it was one of the toys on Yondu’s console years before anyone conceptualized Grogu for Mando.

I have to admit, though the Holiday Special for Guardians was a clear riff at the Star Wars Holiday Special, I wasn’t expecting Gunn to add an animated sequence as well. It was a pretty nice touch, and it was a great way to have Yondu in the special without having to break any kind of canon.

I’ll admit, the special got kind of corny at times, but I guess that was the whole point of the special, with the Christmas songs and campy stakes. Rocket does tease another special down the line, but it will probably be coming out after the events of Guardians Vol. 3.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now streaming on HBO Max.

Karen Gillan Teases Her Nebula Return in GOTG 3 https://www.geekfeed.com/karen-gillan-teases-her-nebula-return-in-gotg-3/ Wed, 23 Mar 2022 02:24:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64542 Nebula was a character that got a lot of major growth in Avengers: Endgame, and she’s set to return with the Guardians in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The film is currently in production, and Karen Gillan has given us a little (battle-damaged) Nebula tease.

She posted this on her stories (via @cosmic_marvel):

https://twitter.com/cosmic_marvel/status/1506027478451728387

Though Nebula may have started out as an enemy, she has slowly worked herself into the Guardians roster, and with the search for Gamora being on, their connection will be something integral to the emotional arc of the story.

For now, director James Gunn has said that this third movie will complete the arcs of this iteration of the Guardians, and this will be the last time that we’ll be seeing this team together. Even if that is the case, the Guardians have had several members join them throughout the history of the comics, so even if this means the end for the team members, that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re saying good-bye to the team.

With a release set for May next year, it could be a while before we get to see a trailer for GOTG 3. Then again, we are getting a holiday special on Disney+. My guess is we would get a teaser around October nearing the holiday season, but maybe Doctor Strange 2 has a few more reveals up its sleeve.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to hit theaters on May 23, 2023.

James Gunn: GOTG Holiday Special will Introduce ‘The Greatest MCU Characters of All Time’ https://www.geekfeed.com/james-gunn-gotg-holiday-special-will-introduce-the-greatest-mcu-characters-of-all-time/ Mon, 04 Oct 2021 15:20:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61791 It may be a while before we get the Guardians of the Galaxy back on the big screen, but they are set to make a small comeback on Disney+ with the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. James Gunn is once again on the helm, and though fans are expecting a light family romp, Gunn does tease something huge in store for the MCU.

Here’s his post on Twitter:

We don’t know which characters Gunn is expecting to introduce, but I think some people are already anticipating the live-action debut of Adam Warlock. Seeing that this is just a holiday special though, I think we could be meeting some smaller characters (albeit that doesn’t make them any less ‘great’). We’ve seen Cosmo the space dog in the first Guardians movie and he had a small cameo in the end credits of Vol. 2, so maybe this time we can actually watch Cosmo take center stage and become a full-fledged member of the Guardians.

In the comics, Cosmo was a dog with telepathic abilities and “spoke” with a Russian accent; he’s also in constant odds with Rocket Raccoon. While they haven’t delved into the character in live-action, he does make an appearance in Square Enix’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy game.

Catch the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special when it hits Disney+ sometime around December 2022. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023.

Enter Vader’s Castle in LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales First Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/enter-vaders-castle-in-lego-star-wars-terrifying-tales-first-trailer/ Wed, 08 Sep 2021 09:01:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61381 After the fun of the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, Disney+ is doubling down on the holiday fun of LEGO SW. This Halloween will bring us LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, and has Poe Dameron and BB-8 exploring Vader’s Castle (which has been converted into some kind of Haunted Mansion theme park).

Check out the LEGO Star Wars trailer down here:

Here’s the official description:

“After the events of “The Rise of Skywalker,” Poe and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt who has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel. While waiting for his X-wing to be repaired, Poe, BB-8, Graballa, and Dean (a plucky and courageous young boy who works as Graballa’s mechanic) venture deep into the mysterious castle with Vader’s loyal servant, Vaneé.  Along the way, Vaneé shares three creepy stories linked to ancient artifacts and iconic villains from across all eras of Star Wars. As Vaneé spins his tales and lures our heroes deeper into the shadowy underbelly of the castle, a sinister plan emerges. With the help of Dean, Poe and BB-8 will have to face their fears, stop an ancient evil from rising, and escape to make it back to their friends.”

Though the story isn’t canon, this is the closest thing we have to progress when it comes to Sequel Trilogy material. We have some sort of backstory to the fall of Ben Solo, plus we get a Star Wars What If…? situation where Vader takes Luke Skywalker under his wing to become an Imperial pilot.

Though we have material like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi incoming, I would love to keep exploring the universe pushing forward. Ever since TROS, I’m kind of itching to get back to the ST era instead of staying in the same OT and PT timelines.

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales hits Disney+ on Oct. 1.

Disney Announces LEGO Star Wars Halloween Special https://www.geekfeed.com/disney-announces-lego-star-wars-halloween-special/ Wed, 04 Aug 2021 14:58:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60888 Star Wars Holiday Specials have a reputation, and LEGO had decided to take on that mantle with the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special on Disney+. Now the brand is going to be taking on a different holiday this October.

Here’s our first look at LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales:

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales poster

This non-canon story takes place after the events of the first LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special and will follow Poe Dameron and BB-8 as they land into some shenanigans on the planet of Mustafar. The official description of the plot from StarWars.com reads:

After the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Poe Dameron and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt. The crime boss has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel. With the help of Dean, Poe and BB-8 will have to face their fears, stop an ancient evil from rising, and escape to make it back to their friends.

With the future of Star Wars looking to be heavily leaning in on the Prequel and Original trilogy timelines, it’s a relief to get some sort of update on the Sequel era—even if it’s a non-canon Halloween special. We don’t know what Disney plans to do with the characters, but I think it’s great to see stories that push the timeline forward. Though The Rise of Skywalker is considered a finale, it could be seen as a new beginning for characters like Rey, Poe, and Finn.

Catch LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales when it comes out on Oct. 1.

GOTG Star Vin Diesel Teases Return to Groot’s Home Planet https://www.geekfeed.com/gotg-star-vin-diesel-teases-return-to-groots-home-planet/ Fri, 18 Jun 2021 15:29:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60109 It’s going to be a while till Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters, but we will get to meet the Guardians again on Disney+ with the incoming Holiday Special and I Am Groot series. While we don’t have any official details about the shows from Marvel, GOTG star Vin Diesel may have just given us a hint.

Talking to ComicBook, Diesel had teased, If you’re talking to [Marvel Studios boss Kevin] Feige on Saturday, you can ask him about the Groot story that he’s excited about; the return to Planet X.”

In the comics, Planet X was the home planet of Groot’s species, and with Groot being one of the more mysterious creatures in the MCU lore, there’s a lot of room to explore when it comes to his story. After all, why would the Collector be so intent on keeping Groot after he met him in the first film?

While this could seem like an important plot point for GOTG Vol. 3, I think a return to Planet X could be the perfect premise for the Holiday Special. Groot is essentially one of the less complicated characters among the Guardians, and with the third movie said to be tying up loose ends for Star-Lord, Drax, and Rocket, it would seem to crowded to have Groot come to his own journey—especially since his character has now reverted back to a kid.

Of course, I’m just speculating on my part. Hopefully we get some official updates from Marvel soon. Catch the Guardians when they return to the big screen in Thor: Love and Thunder on Feb. 11, 2022.Groot

GOTG Director James Gunn Celebrates Star Wars Day https://www.geekfeed.com/gotg-director-james-gunn-celebrates-star-wars-day/ Thu, 06 May 2021 01:00:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59401 It may be a while before we get to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but director James Gunn has decided to get into the spirit of Star Wars Day May the Fourth with a new post.

He shared these posters by artist Matt Ferguson who had mashed up the two Guardians movies in the style of the original posters for A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Check them out:

https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1389681684610646019

With a third Guardians movie officially underway with Marvel, a lot of fans are curious on whether the would be getting a poster for Guardians Vol. 3 in the style of Return of the Jedi, to which Ferguson replied, “It will happen. Oh yes it will.”

For some idea of what that poster could look like, here’s the original ROTJ poster:

Gunn’s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was definitely a unique one, and a lot of fans could detect inspiration from Star Wars from the Han Solo-esque swagger of Star-Lord to the weird and kooky aliens like Groot (who’s basically just tree-Chewbacca). Let’s just hope this third Guardians movie from Gunn manages to stick the landing, and maybe even plant seeds for the next iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy moving forward.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is set to come out sometime late 2022 on Disney+. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023. Gunn’s next film, The Suicide Squad comes out this year on Aug. 4.
