What’s funny is, he actually has a cameo in the latest season of House of the Dragon, but very few have noticed so far.
As it was pointed out in the latest episode of House That Dragons Built, Martin actually appears onscreen in the series—not as himself, but as part of the set. As it turns out, the weirwood tree in Harrenhal has the face of George R.R. Martin. Check this out:
It’s not a 1:1 recreation of Martin’s face, but it does have enough features that people could look at it and immediately think of him. I thought the face looked fine, but I was kind of hoping they found a way to replicate the glasses, suspenders, and beret as well.
Game of Thrones is no stranger to guest stars and cameos. They had Ed Sheeran appear as a Lannister soldier, and had guest appearances from actors like Ian McShane and Pedro Pascal. Even Raised by Wolves fans have noticed that Amanda Colin (Mother) and Abubakar Salim (Father) also have prominent roles in the second season of House of the Dragon.
We don’t know if the show will ever want to show Martin as himself, but I think he’ll fit right in as an old maester. Maybe they can take a leaf out of Peter Jackson’s book and just have him be a commoner munching on a carrot.

]]>Just in, HBO has dropped a trailer for Gaga Chromatica Ball, and it gives us a look at Gaga’s seventh headlining concert which took place July 17—September 17, 2022. Check this out:
Gaga also made the official announcement of the release of Chromatica Ball on IG, and it came with the caption:
“I’m so excited that we can finally share The Chromatica Ball film with the world. This film chronicles a time of immense creativity…the fashion, the dance, the music. Revisiting the tour leaves me speechless the way we had each other—you all showed up for music and art in a big way, and with a level of excitement and freedom that I will never forget. Stadium after stadium. Sold out crowds. The deafening singalongs.
“Chromatica was colorful revenge. The chaos of it all became pure energy and life. With a texture best experienced live.”
Like the usual concert films go, we’ll probably be getting some snippets from behind the scenes playing in between all of the perfomances from the actual concert. With the concert having come out in 2022, you can imagine a lot of Gaga’s fans have been waiting for the release of this concert movie for a while.
Even Taylor Swift’s Eras tour managed to release a film in theaters about the concert before the tour was even finished. Eras is expected to have its final show this December.
Going back to Gaga though, her act is definitely more than just the music, and a lot of fans usually come to watch what kind of wacky visuals she’s going to be bringing onstage. Let’s hope that Chromatica gets people excited for Gaga’s Harley Quinn when Joker Folie a Deux comes out later this year.
Gaga Chromatica Ball comes to Max on May 25.
]]>Though the earlier trailers for the series had been very sparing with the reveals, we now have a new This Season preview for the series teasing what arcs Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) could be going through this year. Check this out:
Though the second season of the show ended with Deborah firing Ava in order for her to find her own way in the industry, the third season quickly catches us up a year after their parting of ways with Deborah being bigger than ever thanks to the special she developed with Ava; and Ava writing for a prestigious show.
By the end of the second episode though, we see Ava coming back under the roof of Deborah in order to help her develop her own talk show—which she isn’t even sure she’s going to get.
Thanks to the trailer though, we can see that Deborah could be getting a new love interest in the form of another rich elderly gentleman. We can also see that Deborah’s daughter DJ is going to be participating in a roast of her mother, and she’ll be up on her usual shenanigans.
It’s also been teased that Christina Hendricks is going to be seducing Ava at some point, which should be problematic for her relationship with fictional DC star Ruby Rojas (Lorenzo Izzo).

Here’s the official description for the film:
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.
Originally, the film was supposed to release on HBO Max alongside projects like Batgirl, but somehow they upgraded the film to actually have a theatrical run.
We don’t know what’s so special about Blue Beetle that they decided to release it in cinemas, but you can clearly see his potential as a popular superhero, being a sort of cross between Iron Man (the advanced suit and technology) and Green Lantern (the ability to construct anything Jaime can imagine).
It’s still unclear how the DCEU will be moving forward with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm, but some think that Blue Beetle will be the first main entry in the new timeline. Hopefully things get clarified soon.
Blue Beetle comes to cinemas on Aug. 18.

We don’t have a direct breakdown of the plot synopsis, but it looks like the Gemstones will be running into a different kind of religious group in the form of a cult run by Steve Zahn (The White Lotus). Though they do look like some Manson-era hippies, their love for guns (and hate for the Gemstones) could make them some formidable opponents for the Gemstone family.
Speaking of family, it looks like Uncle Baby Billy (Walton Goggins) is back to his old shenanigans. Though not a Gemstone himself, Billy did get a significant arc in the last season, and we should expect him to be trying to make ends meet again, no matter what it takes; be it slinging fake medicine pills or taking advantage of his religious celebrity.
Danny McBride has always been great when it comes to his brand of comedy, and after Vice Principals, The Righteous Gemstones manages to keep being outrageous and crazy. We don’t know how long they plan to run the show, but as long as Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin are idiots, they will always have something interesting to tackle every season.
Watch out for The Righteous Gemstones when it premieres on HBO Max on June 18.

The official description reads:
Yep, we did it. The fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever is almost here, and it’s a banging ending. Get ready for senior year, nerds.
While Davi is the main character of the series, the show is also going to close the arcs on her friends and their sex lives. So far, the fourth season looks like it’s going to feature more sexual tension and ridiculously attractive boys that’s expected of the series; but it won’t be as dark and artsy as HBO’s Euphoria.
It looks like Netflix is closing up shop when it comes to their coming-of-age series which have heavy emphasis on sex. Besides Never Have I Ever, fans are also expecting the next season of Sex Education to be the last, what with series regulars like Ncuti Gatwa moving on to play the next Doctor in Doctor Who.
Though Never Have I Ever is closing up on Davi’s high school story, you can always check out Sex Lives of College Girls on HBO which you could consider a kind of sequel to Kaling’s Netflix series.
The final season of Never Have I Ever comes to Netflix on June 8.

The synopsis for the series reads:
In “Unicorn: Warriors Eternal,” an evil force is looming across the dark, thick-aired streets of industrial revolution London when a group of heroes dubbed Unicorn are accidentally reawakened in the bodies of teenagers instead of adult hosts they’ve embodied in the past. Melinda, a powerful sorceress, Seng, a cosmic monk, and Edred, a warrior elf. With distorted memories and their magical abilities weakened and fragmented, the trio must work together with help from their steam-powered robot, Copernicus, to unravel the mysteries of their pasts and present that will reveal their path to defeating a timeless threat.
While a lot of animated series like Rick and Morty and Bob’s Burgers kind of resort to keeping to a specific animation style, Unicorn comes off the bat with a fresh new animated look—something expected when it comes to an animator like Tartakovsky.
If you’re unfamiliar with his work, Tartakovsky is behind the kid-friendly hits like Dexter’s Laboratory and Hotel Transylvania; he also delivered the original animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Unicorn is expected to be just as impressive.

Watch out for new episodes of Unicorn: Warriors Eternal when they come out on Adult Swim and HBO Max on Thursdays.
]]>Check out the first trailer starring Luke Wilson:
Here’s the series synopsis:
Jeff Cooper has it all: a fulfilling career as the graphic designer for space start-up Mars.ly, a relationship with his soon-to-be Red Planet-bound girlfriend, Hannah, and… well, maybe that’s it. But when his bosses unceremoniously eliminate his role, Jeff finds himself jobless and unable to return to Earth. Adrift in the sprawling office colony, Jeff is forced to reinvent himself as he attempts to find meaning in a dangerous, alien, yet all-too-familiar corporate landscape.
On the first viewing, you may think that he series was created by Mike Judge seeing that it feels like Office Space with a sci-fi setting; plus the art style seems pretty similar to that of King of the Hill. If anything, the series does feel pretty similar to Sherman’s previous work with Adult Swim’s Wet City. Check out the first chapter here:
While I expect the show to have some laughs and satire about corporate culture, I have a feeling we should expected Fired on Mars to also have some kind of existential reflection not dissimilar to that of Netflix’s hit animated series BoJack Horseman.
Catch Fired on Mars when it premieres on HBO Max on April 20.
]]>Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye shared this on his Youtube:
Here’s the description for the series:
A self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult enters a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol.
The trailer pretty much leans in on what we can expect from a series coming from Levinson. With Euphoria already taking it to the next level when it comes to portraying teen drama, we should expect things to get even dirtier with The Idol especially since we’re already looking at something of a modern-day cult.
I’ll admit, the Rolling Stone tell-all article did not put Levinson or this series in a good light, but with the popularity of Euphoria, you can bet that a lot of people are already interested to see what The Idol will bring to the table.
I’m honestly on the fence about the project; I mean, Levinson does create a very unique and artsy vibe with his series, but is it worth the long hours and suffering of the crew? I’m just hoping HBO will solve all these issues before things get out of hand when Euphoria 3 begins shooting.
The Idol is now set to release on HBO Max on June 4.
]]>Here’s the announcement for the HP series coming to the rebranded Max:
It comes with this description:
Max has ordered the first ever #HarryPotter scripted television series, a faithful adaptation of the iconic books
The series is said to be covering one book per season, and will find a new cast of characters to play the trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine. Besides the promise that the series will attempt to be more faithful to the books, it’s also been said that the show will have a more diverse cast of characters.
Growing up on the films, news of a Harry Potter reboot to me definitely feels like a poor decision, but on the other hand, several classic stories have found themselves rebooted time and again like Sherlock Holmes. While the movies do seem pretty fresh in a lot of fans’ minds, maybe a reboot won’t be as terrible as we expect.
Though fans had managed to stick to J.K. Rowling through all the online shaming and transphobe accusations, I wonder how many will be on her side now especially since she’s attached to the show as an executive producer. While her Fantastic Beasts attempt wasn’t perfect, I definitely prefer an expansion of the world rather than a retelling of a story that a lot of fans agree has pretty much been pulled off.
No release date has been set for the Potter series.
]]>Talking to ScreenRant, Keen explains, “I can’t say much. I can say she’s an alien. She’s pretty cool, she’s pretty badass. She gets to play a bit with lightsabers, which is fun, which I loved and… It’s just an honor to be a Jedi.”
Exclusive: #TheAcolyte cast members Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Joonas Suotamo, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Charlie Barnett share details about their #StarWars characters, including a Wookie Jedi Master and a powerful Force-wielder: https://t.co/qPF57nGNuP pic.twitter.com/FRgpLCZoZg
— Screen Rant (@screenrant) April 10, 2023
Considering how tightly Lucasfilm keeps a lid on their projects, Keen actually shared a lot of details about her character. With her playing the role of a tiny Wolverine in Logan, it would make sense to watch her do some more action again with a property like Star Wars.
Here’s the synopsis for The Acolyte:
“A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”
Besides Keen, the series has also gathered a cast which includes Jodie Turner-Smith, Carrie-Anne Moss, Lee Jung-jae, and Manny Jacinto. The lead is also being played by Amandla Stenberg, and it’s still unclear whether her character is a Jedi or actually a Sith acolyte.
Hopefully we get more reveals soon. The Acolyte has no release date yet, but with the series currently filming, I’m expecting a premiere on Disney+ maybe later this year, or early 2024.
]]>Just in, we have our first trailer for Blue Beetle, and it showcases one of DC’s more obscure (but fan-favorite) characters. Check this out:
The official synopsis reads:
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.
Besides Maridueña, the movie also features Susan Sarandon as the main antagonist as well as George Lopez, Harvey Guillen, and Adriana Barraza. The film is also directed by Angel Manuel Soto with a script from Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
I guess it’s also worth noting that the film was originally supposed to come out on HBO Max, but it got upgraded to a theatrical release. It’s a good thing this one managed to avoid the DC purge—unlike the Batgirl movie.
So far, the film looks pretty decent, but I think the film will have to try hard to feel like a different movie. After the underwhelming performance of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, DC will have to prove that they can make superheroes interesting in their own way. They pretty much have a head start after Marvel slipped up with Quantumania.
Blue Beetle is set to come to cinemas on Aug. 18.
]]>Check out the trailer for White House Plumbers:
Here’s the official description:
WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS takes the audience behind-the-scenes of the Watergate scandal as Nixon’s political saboteurs, E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, accidentally topple the presidency they were zealously trying to protect… and their families along with it.
Chronicling actions on the ground, this satirical drama begins in 1971 when the White House hires Hunt and Liddy, former CIA and FBI, respectively, to investigate the Pentagon Papers leak. After failing upward, the unlikely pair lands on the Committee to Re-Elect the President, plotting several unbelievable covert ops – including bugging the Democratic National Committee offices at the Watergate complex. Proving that history can sometimes be stranger than fiction, WHITE HOUSE PLUMBERS sheds light on the lesser-known series of events that led to one of America’s greatest political crimes.
The series will run for only five episodes and is said to be based on the 2007 book Integrity by Egil and Matthew Krogh. The show creators, Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck have both written for HBO’s Veep, and that very same series’ showrunner David Mandel is set to direct all five episodes of this show.
The Watergate scandal is no doubt one of the biggest political scandals of all time, and though Nixon is at the very center of that story, I’m interested to see what really conspired with everyone else that was involved in the scandal.
White House Plumbers premieres on HBO Max on May 1.
]]>Deadline reports that House of the Dragon will only feature 8 episodes—two episodes short of the first season, which had ten. The show was originally supposed to have ten like the last season, but rewrites have prompted for the series to only include eight.
I guess it’s also worth noting that HBO is still mulling over whether the show would get a third season; and the shortened Season 2 is a response not the show not yet receiving the greenlight.
If anything, there are pros and cons to having seasons that are too short or too long. The last season of Game of Thrones suffered from having the plot move at a breakneck pace because it didn’t have enough episodes to cover everything; but on the other hand, shows like Daredevil hot too draggy because the network demanded a specific number of episodes and the writers ran out of plot.
With House of the Dragon working on finished source material, I’m hoping the show manages to stick the landing better than Thrones did. It already did some great work with the character of Viserys, so I’m curious what could happen down the line for the Targaryens and Hightowers.
No release date has been announced for House of the Dragon 2, but you can catch the complete first season now streaming on HBO Max.
]]>Replying to a post about the rumor on Twitter, Gunn confirms that there isn’t a rights issue when it comes to Batman appearing in The Penguin:
https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/1636082885198487552
With WB seemingly taking every precaution they can with the character, fans weren’t expecting him to have a large role in the series. If anything, a Bruce Wayne cameo would seem to have perfectly sufficed.
Take not, just because Gunn confirmed that there wasn’t any legal issue, doesn’t mean that Pattinson could show up in the series as well. Though it would be great to have some kind of update on his Batman before the release of the second film, I think his appearance in the show could distract from the story of the main character, which is supposed to be Oz Cobblepot.
Until the series comes out, we’ll just have to wait and see. For now, production was said to have already begun, and we have Penguin sharing scenes with whoever is left of the Falcone crime family. I’m just hoping we get to see more of Gotham’s underworld if Batman isn’t going to be showing up.
No release date has been set for the Penguin series on HBO Max.

— Zack Snyder (@ZackSnyder) March 15, 2023
The post has already earned more than 2 million views with close to 60k likes. We don’t know what this is for exactly, but with the mention of Darkseid, it’s very likely it will have something to do with DC.
Snyder had essentially left DC after what happened with Justice League, but for years fans have been hounding the studio to release Snyder’s version of the movie—resulting in the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max back in 2021.
Though that film was greatly received by the fandom, it still didn’t seem to interest anyone in WB, and even after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as DC heads, we still didn’t get an update on what Zack Snyder was working on.
With Snyder having a full idea of where he wanted to take his Justice League movies, I’m guessing this could be a teaser for a comic told completely in the ZSJL timeline. I’d be even more surprised if we actually got an animated film with the cast returning to provide their voices. The way things are though, I think Snyder taking on a DC project after all this seems like an impossibility.
Then again, that’s just my guess.
Watch out for Snyder’s big Darkseid announcement coming April 28–30.
]]>Talking to GQ, Druckmann and Mazin confirmed that The Last of Us Part II’s story will take place around multiple seasons. Here’s the exchange:
GQ: People are also speculating how Season 2 will encompass such a large game. Will the next season span the entire course of the second game?
Mazin: [shakes head] No. No way.
Druckmann: It’s more than one season.
GQ: Can you tell us if it’s two or three seasons?
Mazin: You have noted correctly that we will not say how many. But more than one is factually correct. [Laughs].
We don’t have any specific details as to where the second season will go and how much Part II will cover, but gamers know that the seeds have already been planted in the finale. Druckmann does continue to tease, “Some of the stuff I’m most excited for [in Part 2] are the changes we’ve discussed and seeing the story come to life again in this other version. And I think it’s exciting because it leans into those feelings you had from the game, really heavily, in a new way.”
What’s amazing about the series was how it was able to introduce so many changes from the original game without making it unfaithful to the source material; like Sam being deaf and Bill’s entire arc. It’s unclear what kind of changes Druckmann wants to include, but I would love to know more about the origin of the Seraphites and maybe Abby’s dad.
The Last of Us Season 2 has no release date yet, but you can catch the completed first season now streaming on HBO Max.
]]>Just in, we have the new preview for Episode 9, and it confirms that we’re going to see a pregnant Anna Williams being attacked by infected. Check this out:
Fans who have already played the game could piece together the some pieces from the final act of the story, but it seems that we’re going to be getting an extensive flashback featuring the circumstances of Ellie’s birth, as well as Marlene’s decision to have her sent to FEDRA’s military school.
So far, even the games have been mysterious when it comes to Ellie’s immunity, but maybe the show could go the extra mile and reveal what could have made Ellie immune. Did it have something to do with her mother getting infected during the pregnancy? I’m honestly not expecting answers, but maybe the show would be willing to explain something.
I didn’t think that the first season would be able to encapsulate the whole game, but they managed to cut through the David arc in one episode. Hopefully we get a satisfying finale, especially now that the series has established the closeness of Ellie and Joel. I wonder what they’ll have in store for Season 2?
Catch the finale of The Last of Us when it steams on HBO Max this Sunday.
]]>In a recent article from Rolling Stone, it has been revealed by several members of the crew that The Idol has been a nightmare for the production, and it’s all thanks to co-creators Sam Levinson and Abel Tesfaye. From what was expected to be the next Euphoria, the series has apparently been written and rewritten over and over again and has been reduced to what some are calling ‘Torture Porn.’
Members of the crew had been opening up about how director Amy Seimetz had left the project due to creative differences, and everything just started going downhill when Levinson had taken over and decided to do a massive overhaul of the story (which was allegedly 80 percent done).
It was also said that Tesfaye was also responsible for the change in the script because he felt the show as ‘heading to much into a ‘female perspective’’. The show was said to have originally featured a smart satirization of the current fame culture, but now it’s just being described as this male rape fantasy where the protagonist woman is happy to be used by a cult leader (played by Tesfaye).
if anything, this shouldn’t come as a surprise for some people who have been following the news for Euphoria. Levinson was also said to have made shooting that series difficult as well, coming into the set with no plans and stretching production more than it needs to.
What’s terrible is, since Euphoria is a hit, and the show makes money, it’s said that Levinson is free to do whatever he wants, and HBO won’t really do anything about it. One source said, “I got the vibe that the mood on set was, ‘What’s HBO gonna do, pull the plug? Yeah, right. If they want a third season of Euphoria, they’ll give me what I want… We’re just gonna shoot what we want and if [HBO execs] have a problem with it, that’s their problem.’”
As of now, there is still no release date for HBO’s The Idol.
]]>As fans have pointed out online, the girl with a braid that Ellie tells off could be Dina a.k.a. Ellie’s love interest in the sequel.
https://twitter.com/codykenoboob/status/1627497753885675521
There’s even some dialogue from Part II where Dina describes seeing Ellie for the first time, trying to steal as much food as she could. It’s not exactly what happens in the series, but showrunner Craig Mazin has noticed the similarity and has mentioned it in the podcast by saying, “That doesn’t mean that that’s Dina, but it doesn’t mean it’s not.”
The posts even got the attention of Dina actress Shannon Woodward:
Oh damn was that Dina
— Shannon Woodward (@shannonwoodward) February 20, 2023
It’s definitely a neat Easter Egg, and with The Last of Us having been renewed by HBO, it’s only a matter of time before we meet Dina.
We don’t know when the series is going to start adapting Part II, but I already have a feeling that we’re going to get the season finale without having the big finale with the Fireflies like what happened in the game.
For now, watch out for new episodes of The Last of Us on HBO Max every Sunday.
