As it turns out, the return of the old Marvel Fox heroes was a really big deal for the production, and director Shawn Levy has shared some official behind-the-scenes images of the Legacy characters coming together. Check these out:

Though fans may be familiar with Elektra and Blade getting their own films, Gambit was a movie that was announced but never got into production. The studio went so far as to have Channing Tatum announced as Gambit at a Hall H panel, but the movie went into Development Hell, and the acquisition of Fox by Disney didn’t help the film’s chances either.

Other heroes that were said to have been courted for an appearance was Ghost Rider, but Nicolas Cage declined an offer to return. There were also rumors that other Fantastic Four members would appear, but the only one that did was Chris Evans’ Human Torch/ Johnny Storm.

So far, Deadpool and Wolverine have been earning mixed reactions from fans with some saying that the movie relied too heavily on nostalgia and was setting a bad precedent for the future of the MCU; but the box office numbers don’t lie, and the film is going down to be the most successful R-rated movie of all time, beating Passion of the Christ.

Deadpool and Wolverine is now showing in theatres.

Bond Girl Lea Seydoux Admits She was in the Cancelled Gambit Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/bond-girl-lea-seydoux-admits-she-was-in-the-cancelled-gambit-movie/ Mon, 30 May 2022 14:57:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65405 Before Disney acquired 20th Century Studios, there were multiple spinoffs announced including New Mutants, X-Force, and Gambit starring Channing Tatum. While a lot of those projects didn’t end up happening, one star has revealed that she was originally attached to be in Tatum’s Marvel spinoff.

Bond girl Lea Seydoux has admitted that she was originally set to star as Bella Donna Boudreaux in the cancelled Gambit. She told IndieWire, “The script was really good…It had some funny bits in it, but they wanted to make more of a comedy. I feel that in America people have more imagination. I have been offered films very very far from what I’ve done and I’m like, ‘Oh. Interesting.’ I love to feel that I can adapt myself. For me, that’s very exotic.”

We don’t know exactly why Gambit never got off the ground, but Tatum has said that the heads thought that the project was too ‘flamboyant’. Tatum told Variety, “They would call him ‘flamboyant’ in his description… I wouldn’t — he was just the coolest person. He could pull anything off. Most superheroes, their outfits are utilitarian. Batman’s got his belt. Gambit’s like, ‘No, this shit’s just fly, bro! This shit walked down the Paris runway last year.’ He’s just wearing the stuff that’s so dope because he loves fashion.”

With Marvel possibly introducing the X-Men soon, maybe there could be space to introduce a Gambit revival, but with the way the MCU is so formulaic, I’d say the chances are pretty slim. Then again, Tatum is a huge star, and if he was attached to the project, maybe something could happen.

Who knows, maybe Gambit is exactly the kind of spice that the MCU needs right now, after the mid reception of properties like Eternals, Shang-Chi, and Doctor Strange 2.

Gambit Left Channing Tatum ‘Traumatized’ https://www.geekfeed.com/gambit-left-channing-tatum-traumatized/ Fri, 04 Feb 2022 07:14:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63813 Long before the Disney acquisition, 20th Century Fox had a lot of X-Men spinoffs planned from an X-Force film to another Deadpool movie. One other property that was in the works was Gambit with Channing Tatum, and though the movie was cancelled like all the rest, Tatum says that he took it particularly hard.

Talking to Variety, Tatum explained, “Once Gambit went away, I was so traumatized… I shut off my Marvel machine. I haven’t been able to see any of the movies. I loved that character. It was just too sad. It was like losing a friend because I was so ready to play him.”

We never really got a look at Gambit, but word was going around that the film would be a semi-musical—this was around that the time that Fox was trying to be more experimental with their comic book entries; that’s why New Mutants had a strong horror vibe. Gambit was supposed to be another stab at experimentation.

As for why the movie never took off, Tatum explains that, “The studio really didn’t want us to direct it,” They wanted anybody but us, essentially, because we had never directed anything.”

Though I was skeptical about the Gambit movie when it was announced, Tatum’s description of the character kind of has me interested. While the studio allegedly called the character ‘flamboyant’, Tatum retorts saying:

I wouldn’t — he was just the coolest person.

Maybe there’s room for Gambit once the MCU brings in their X-Men, but I have to say I’m kind of bummed that Tatum never got to make this movie.
