The series is set to premiere this November, and a new trailer has been dropped. Check this out:

With the Dune films taking place mostly on Arrakis, Prophecy looks to flesh out the world by bringing audiences to the headquarters of the Imperium, where the Emperor resides. While this series has the Bene Gesserit in focus, the Imperium in this show is being led by Mark Strong’s Emperor Javicco Corrino—who will likely be the sisterhood’s target as they plan to take control of the known universe themselves.

For now, it looks like the Harkonnen matriarch Valya (Emily Watson) is going to be the one leading the Bene Gesserit under the guise of it being some kind of specialty school. We don’t know exactly how they gain power, but by the time of the movies, the Bene Gesserit have successfully infiltrated powerful houses, and have even started a religious superstition on Arrakis that would result in the easier takeover of the Kwisatz Haderach—who they plan to successfully breed into existence.

If anything, the sisterhood is considered to be the basis of George Lucas’ Jedi in Star Wars, but instead of noble space knights, you have sneaky witch ladies who can force people to do their bidding literally.

It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Dune: Prophecy is set to release on Max this coming Nov. 17.

Anya Taylor-Joy and Florence Pugh to have Larger Roles in Dune: Messiah https://www.geekfeed.com/anya-florence-have-larger-roles-in-dune-messiah/ Tue, 17 Sep 2024 17:09:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84327 Princess Irulan may have been the ‘narrator’ of the Dune book by Frank Herbert, but her part (played by Florence Pugh) was pretty minor in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two.

With Dune: Messiah being officially greenlit by Warner Bros., it looks like the third film is going to see more of Irulan and another supporting role from the movie.

Talking to Vanity Fair (via @FilmUpdates), Villeneuve has confirmed that Princess Irulan and Alia Atreides (Anya Taylor-Joy) are going to be “prominent” roles in Dune: Messiah. No further details have been revealed about the parts, but Villeneuve does say about the status of the third film:

“First, it’s important that people understand that for me, [the first two movies were] really a diptych… It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished. If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”

For context, Part Two did end with the dark tease that an intergalactic Jihad was going to happen—just like in Paul’s vision—and the Fremen would be invading worlds and slaughtering others in Paul’s name. Though Paul had gained the power to avenge his family, the price would be the holy war where millions would be killed.

Though Irulan had been documenting Paul’s rise to power, Alia (at least, the grown up version) had only shown up in a dream sequence to Paul, saying:

“Now that you have seen out past, you can see out future. My brother, my dearest brother, you are not prepared for what is to come. You’ll now learn the truth about our family, and it will hurt you to the core. Paul, don’t worry. I’m with you. I love you.”

With Paul having lost himself by the end of the movie, it’s going to be interesting to see how Villeneuve treats the character and everyone around him moving forward. Until they make some reveals, we’re just going to have to wait and see.

As of now, Dune: Messiah is yet to receive a release date.

Dune: Prophecy Gives Look at New Character Constantine Corrino https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-prophecy-gives-look-at-constantine-corrino/ Thu, 12 Sep 2024 20:08:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84250 The Bene Gesserit in Dune are said to measure their plans in centuries, and this will be emphasized in the upcoming spinoff series Dune: Prophecy which is set thousands of years before the birth of Paul Atreides.

The series is expected to give audiences a look at the past of established houses, and HBO has just dropped a reveal for Constantine Corrino (Josh Heuston). Check this out:

So far, the only thing that’s been revealed about his character is that he’s an illegitimate son of the series’ current Emperor (Mark Strong), and he’s currently torn between wanting his father’s approval or seeking his own happiness.

It’s unclear how Constantine will factor into the plans of the Bene Gesserit, but seeing that their goal is to establish an Emperor which they can fully control, Constantine’s bloodline could prove to be useful for the sisterhood should they decide to do something about Emperor Javicco.

Though Denis Villeneuve did get his greenlight for Dune: Messiah, it’s going to be a while before we actually get to see that movie hit the big screen—a few years at least. For now though, just like with Star Wars and its Disney+ series, Prophecy promises to bring us back to the world of Dune, and it’s going to help flesh out the world more—which I really think is the entire franchise’s main appeal.

If Agatha All Along isn’t your jam, maybe Dune: Prophecy will be the series about witches that could captivate you this year.

Dune: Prophecy is expected to premiere on Max this November.

Sacrifices Must be Made in New Trailer for Dune: Prophecy https://www.geekfeed.com/sacrifices-in-new-trailer-for-dune-prophecy/ Fri, 19 Jul 2024 10:52:19 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83425 It could be a while before we get Dune: Messiah in theatres, but HBO is already filling in that gap for Dune fans with their upcoming prequel series Dune: Prophecy.

The series is expected to premiere this November, and they’ve dropped a new teaser showcasing the earlier days of the Bene Gesserit. Check this out:

Ten thousand years before Paul Atreides joined the Fremen to lead an uprising on Arrakis to take down House Harkonen, two sisters (Valya and Tula Harkkonen) create the mysterious all-female order called the Bene Gesserit. In Dune Prophecy, the siblings combat forces that threaten the future of humankind.

The biggest star in the cast is Mark Strong, and in this series he plays the part of Emperor Corrino, the current ruler of the Imperium. Besides Strong, the series also has Emily Watson (Chernobyl) playing the part of Valya Harkonnen. Other cast members in the series include Travis Fimmel, Olivia Williams, Camilla Beeput, and Sarah Lam.

With the world of Dune being as vast as it is, the Bene Gesserit is definitely a group that deserves its own kind of origin story. After all, they are the very basis of another more popular fantasy space cult—the Jedi. You can even say that the sisters in The Acolyte are more directly inspired by the Bene Gesserit.

The series definitely looks interesting, and should draw the audiences of the Dune franchise. With House of the Dragon expected to end soon, and Westworld and Raised by Wolves getting cancelled, Max needs another big sci-fi drama to fill that hole.

Dune: Prophecy is set to come out on Max this November.

The Sisterhood is Formed in First Teaser for Dune: Prophecy https://www.geekfeed.com/the-sisterhood-is-formed-in-dune-prophecy/ Sat, 18 May 2024 10:03:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82466 With Dune: Messiah officially underway, fans will have to wait a few more years before we can see just exactly where Paul Atreides’ arc as the Lisan al Gaib is going to lead. Fortunately, HBO has found a way to give us a good Dune fix as we wait for the third film in Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy.

Here’s our first look at Dune: Prophecy, a spinoff series focusing on the formation of the Bene Gesserit and the lie that would propel Paul Atreides to power thousands of years later. Watch this:

10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, before the universe knew them as the Bene Gesserit…

No doubt the biggest star in the teaser for Prophecy is Mark Strong who plays the part of Emperor Corrino, but the cast also includes the likes of Travis Fimmel, Olivia Williams, Sarah Lam, and Camilla Beeput. Chernobyl star Emily Watson is also playing the part of Valya Harkonnen—and it looks like she’s up to something devious when it comes to the plans of the sisterhood.

There are definitely a lot of interesting things when it comes to Dune, and the Bene Gesserit has always been one of the more interetsing elements—kind of like Jedi before Jedi were even a thing. They have all of these fantastical ‘powers’ but they also represent the power of religious influence on a state.

It was said that the Bene Gesserit were named after the real-life group of Catholic Jesuits who also had political motivations . You can see all that play out in another critically-acclaimed show—Shogun.

With all the hype that Dune: Part Two was able to generate, a lot of fans will be eager to check out Dune: Prophecy to help further expand the lore.

Dune: Prophecy is slated to premiere on Max this Fall.

Dune: Messiah Officially Underway https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-messiah-officially-underway-in-production/ Fri, 12 Apr 2024 10:35:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81849 Rumors of Dune: Part Three have been going around way back since December, but Denis Villeneuve fans can finally rest easy.

Deadline has confirmed that the third part of Villneuve’s planned trilogy, Dune: Messiah, is now official in development. This comes with the announcement that Villeneuve’s next project with Legendary after Messiah will be an adaptation of the nonfiction book Nuclear War: A Scenario written by Annie Jacobsen.

Dune fans will know that the first two movies are actually adaptations of just the first book (among a series of Dune novels). With Dune: Messiah, Villeneuve is expected to delve into the tragedy of House Atreides and where the story goes after Paul names himself as the new emperor of the known universe.

While the first two films were very direct adaptations, Villeneuve is expected to diverge even further from the source material with Messiah. The biggest departure was with the character of Chani (Zendaya). Though Chani was an unwavering supporter of Paul in the books, she had become the character to see the danger of what Paul was to become if they had won against the Harkonnens.

With Dune said to be a cautionary tale on the problem with ‘chosen ones’ and messiahs, Dune: Messiah is expected to drive the point home, complete with the thousands of years of the Atreides domination, and Paul’s son being a literal half-person, half-worm.

It’s going to be wild.

For now, you can enjoy Dune: Part Two which just became available on digital. No release date has been announced for Dune: Messiah.

Survive Arrakis in New Trailer for Dune: Awakening https://www.geekfeed.com/survive-arrakis-in-new-trailer-for-dune-awakening/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 10:36:57 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81337 With Dune: Part Two leading all of the internet hype since last weekend, now is the perfect time for Funcom to give us another look at their upcoming open-world game, Dune: Awakening.

Check this out:

Here’s the official description:

Rise from survival to dominance on the most dangerous planet in the universe. Arrakis is a test that few humans survive.

Dune: Awakening combines the grit and creativity of sandbox survival games with the social interactivity of a large, persistent multiplayer game to create a unique and ambitious Open World Survival MMO.

It’s unclear if the game is going to have an overarching story, but we do get to see that some houses from the film are also going to make their appearance in the game, what with the symbol for House Atreides.

Besides that, it does look like the game is going to focus on allowing players to build their own house and find their own kind of harmony with the desert. Maybe you can even form alliances with existing houses besides the Atreides. Who wouldn’t want to have access to the Imperium’s resources?

With all the hype surrounding the release of the Dune sequel, it definitely isn’t a surprise that Awakening would want to ride on that excitement. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long until the release.

No release date has been set for Dune: Awakening, but fans are hopeful that it will launch sometime later this year.

Denis Villeneuve Said it was ‘Painful’ to Cut Thufir Hawat in Dune: Part Two https://www.geekfeed.com/villenueve-on-thufir-hawat-cut-in-dune-part-two/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 09:49:42 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81321 Josh Brolin’s character Gurney Halleck made a return in Dune: Part Two, but another one of Paul’s mentors, Thufir Hawat (Stephen McKinley Henderson) was nowhere to be found.

As it turns out, Henderson did shoot some scenes for the movie with Austin Butler (Feyd-Rautha), but they were ultimately cut. Director Denis Villeneuve explains to Entertainment Weekly:

“One of the most painful choices for me on this one was Thufir Hawat… He’s a character I absolutely love, but I decided right at the beginning that I was making a Bene Gesserit adaptation. That meant that Mentats are not as present as they should be, but it’s the nature of the adaptation.”

In the lore, Thufir was a mentat, a human computer who was trained to store a vast amount of knowledge and make complicated computations. He had a small role in the first movie, and was expected to have an appearance in the sequel, but he ultimately ended up not showing up.

In the book, Thufir is taken in by the Harkonnens and is forced to be the baron’s new mentat (since his original mentat was killed in the first movie). Thufir would use some of his own skills to plot against the Harkonnens, but he ultimately kills himself to save Paul when he rises as the new leader of the Fremen.

Though Thufir was cut from the film, fans of the movie would have definitely loved to see how his scenes played out. After all, you don’t just cast someone as endearing as Henderson and not have him do anything that significant in your franchise.

For now, Dune: Part Two is now showing in theaters.

Denis Villeneuve Says TV is ‘Corrupting’ Films https://www.geekfeed.com/denis-villeneuve-says-tv-is-corrupting-films/ Thu, 29 Feb 2024 16:56:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81258 Dune: Part Two is here, and everyone is excited to watch the rise of Paul Atreides on Arrakis. Everyone in the crew is doing their press tour, and director Denis Villeneuve has decided to share an interesting opinion on television and movies.

Talking to Variety, Villeneuve explains how he thinks that television has seemingly ‘corrupted’ his beloved film medium. He explains:

“Frankly, I hate dialogue. Dialogue is for theatre and television. I don’t remember movies because of a good line, I remember movies because of a strong image. I’m not interested in dialogue at all. Pure image and sound, that is the power of cinema, but it is something not obvious when you watch movies today. Movies have been corrupted by television. In a perfect world, I’d make a compelling movie that doesn’t feel like an experiment but does not have a single word in it either. People would leave the cinema and say, ‘Wait, there was no dialogue?’ But they won’t feel the lack.”

If you’ve watched Villeneuve movies, you can kind of understand where he’s coming from. His dialogue and character interaction during scenes is usually considered the weaker part of his movies, but he definitely makes up for it with sound, visuals, and overall atmosphere.

With him admitting that he doesn’t really prioritize dialogue, it kind of contextualizes that part about his films. Kind of like how Christopher Nolan also says that some movies need to be ‘felt’ rather than understood—specifically TENET.

For now, fans await Dune: Part Two, and hopefully Villeneuve immediately gets the greenlight for Dune: Part Three after the premiere.

Dune: Part Two comes to theaters on March 1.

Arrakis Awaits in Reveal for Dune Expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-expansion-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/ Wed, 14 Feb 2024 10:34:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81054 Gone may be the days of having full video games based on movies, and the industry has decided to settle on DLC expansions. With the release of Dune: Part Two incoming, Microsoft has revealed that they have a free Dune expansion for their Flight Simulator that will place players in the desert world of Arrakis.

Check this out:

For the first time ever, Microsoft Flight Simulator is taking you beyond Planet Earth into the harsh deserts of the world of “Dune” and the planet Arrakis. Aviators can put their courage and skills to the test in the cockpit of the Royal Atreides Ornithopter, mastering tutorials, time trials, and a daring rescue mission.

It’s not clear how exactly the controls will be different when it comes to an Ornithopter, but it’s likely that it will function like a plain what with the same wingspan—but planes’ wings never had to retract when the had to dive downward like a thopter does.

Though the trailer does give us some sandstorms and mountains, I was kind of hoping that they would include a sandworm to escape or fly around; but if they were to put that in the game, you would think that it would be in the reveal trailer.

Maybe somewhere down the line if Dune: Part Three gets greenlit.

The Dune expansion is available for free on Microsoft Flight Simulator today, and you can watch out for Dune: Part Two when it hits cinemas on March 1. Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available for Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.

Dune: Part Two Gives Closer Look at Princess Irulan and Feyd-Rautha https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-part-two-princess-irulan-and-feyd-rautha/ Sat, 03 Feb 2024 17:18:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80893 Denis Villeneve’s first Dune movie had already gotten delayed thanks to the pandemic, and the sequel, Dune: Part Two was delayed because of the SAG-AFTRA Strike.

Now the second part of what Villeneuve is considering to be a trilogy is going to release in a month, and everyone is excited to meet the new characters. Just in, we have some interesting character spots for Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (Austin Butler).

Check these out:

In the book, Princess Irulan is actually the one narrating the events as she chronicles the rise of Paul Atreides. Though we didn’t see her in the first film, we should expect her to do some sci-fi journalism to see just who Paul is before he goes after the emperor (Christopher Walken) himself.

Here’s the spot for Butler’s Feyd-Rautha:

Originally played by Sting in the David Lynch movie, Feyd is considered to be the Harkonnen golden boy who has his fateful duel with Paul for the fate of Arrakis. Though Feyd’s fate is kind of obvious at this point, you have to commend Butler completely disappearing into the role. It’s hard to imagine he was flirting with 60s teenagers just a few years ago in Elvis.

Though the second movie is expected to complete the first book, Villeneuve and everyone else is hoping they will get to finish a trilogy with an adaptation of Dune: Messiah. We don’t know if WB will be up for it, but fingers crossed they get the greenlight soon.

Watch out for Dune: Part Two when it finally hits theaters on March 1.

Internet is Poking Fun at the Dune: Part Two Popcorn Bucket for Looking Like a Fleshlight https://www.geekfeed.com/poking-fun-at-the-dune-part-two-popcorn-bucket/ Tue, 30 Jan 2024 15:26:05 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80843 Dune may not have the same kind of merchandising power as Star Wars, but you can’t blame them for trying.

Just in, fans got a look at some promotional material for Dune: Part Two in the form of a specialized popcorn bucket in the shape of a sandworm; but audiences immediately thought that it looked like something else. Here’s a look at the bucket:

And here’s what everyone’s been saying about it:

Even the Gen V page had fun by posting that superhero that has to stick his penis into every hole that he sees:

We don’t know how much power the creative team behind the movie has over merchandising, but I have to admit, having a sandworm you can eat popcorn out of is a pretty fun concept. I guess nobody in the room saw the final product and immediately thought people would associate it with a fleshlight.

As for Dune: Part Two, the film is expected to finish the events of the first Dune book, but director Denis Villeneuve is said to be planning a trilogy with the third being an adaptation of Dune: Messiah—a story where all of Paul’s visions of a holy war in his name come true.

Hopefully Part Two manages to hype up enough people that a third movie gets greenlit immediately by WB Pictures. Fingers crossed.

For now, Dune: Part Two is expected to release on March 01, 2024.

Dune 3 Already Greenlit? https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-part-three-already-greenlit-by-wb/ Thu, 21 Dec 2023 12:11:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80201 Dune: Part Two is set to close the original book in the series from Frank Herbert, but director Denis Villeneuve has revealed that he would want to make a third Dune film to explore the events of Dune: Messiah.

Naturally, fans though that WB would wait for the reception of the second Dune before they would make a choice, but it looks like they’ve already made a decision. According to Jeff Sneider’s newsletter, WB is already looking at Dune: Part Three to have a release around 2027. The post read:

“… I’m already hearing rumblings that WB is so bullish on Villeneuve’s vision for Dune that Part Three has been already been greenlit with a 2027 release date in mind. WB sees Part Two as a home run, and internally, I’m hearing the studio is already projecting an opening north of $100 million. That may be optimistic, but given the trailer above, hardly out of the question.”

Anyone whose done their research on the Dune series will know that Herbert wanted to criticize the ‘chosen one’ trope with Dune. Though Paul did want to save the Fremen, his victory will lead to another holy war in his name. Part Three is said to explore that downfall, and it was all teased way back in the first movie.

With the next Star Wars still being pretty far off, it would be great to see another huge sci-fi franchise come to the spotlight. Let’s just hope Villeneuve finds a way to pick up the pace because for all the beauty of the first Dune, a lot of fans can admit that it is definitely a slog to get through—much like Blade Runner 2049.

Watch out for Dune: Part Two when it releases in theaters on March 01, 2024.

The Kwisatz Haderach will Rise in Latest Trailer for Dune: Part Two https://www.geekfeed.com/the-latest-trailer-for-dune-part-two/ Fri, 15 Dec 2023 09:49:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80120 Dune: Part Two may have been delayed to March, but WB is still trying to get everyone excited for the rise of Paul Atreides. Possibly jumping in on the hype surrounding the release of Wonka, we have a new trailer for the next Dune film, and it showcases all of the sci-fi action you can expect from a planet filled with giant sand worms.

Watch this:

The second movie effectively ends the story of the first Dune from author Frank Herbert, but director Denis Villeneuve is said to be planning an entire Dune trilogy with a third film following the rise of the tyrant Paul Atreides.

After all, the entire point of Dune is considered to be a critique on the notion of stories with ‘chosen ones’ and ‘destiny’; and Paul is supposed to evolve from the prince to the face of a new intergalactic war—the very thing he was panicking about when he got a hit of spice in the first movie.

We don’t know if a third movie will be greenlit, but fingers crossed that Dune: Part Two will manage to bring in an audience post-pandemic.

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Dune: Part Two is set to release in theaters on March 1.

Denis Villeneuve Wants to Make Dune Messiah https://www.geekfeed.com/denis-villeneuve-wants-to-make-dune-messiah/ Tue, 29 Aug 2023 15:12:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78430 Dune: Part Two may have been delayed to next year, and a lot of fans think this will mark the end of the adaptations of Frank Herbert’s seminal book. What’s interesting is, director Denis Villeneuve actually wants the franchise to be a trilogy.

Talking to Empire, Villeneuve says that he wants to adapt Dune Messiah, Herbert’s follow-up to the original Dune. Villeneuve explains:

“If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream… Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero… Which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning… After that the books become more… esoteric.”

As of now, there hasn’t been anything announced about a sequel, but Villeneuve is already preparing. He couldn’t go into much detail, but he does confirm, “I will say, there are words on paper.”

It has been said that Dune was considered unadaptable by movie standards since the property was more about ideas and thoughts rather than action, but you can’t deny that the world-building is definitely fantastic, and there are still spectacles to be had with the story.

It was actually surprising for a lot of audiences that a Dune sequel was greenlit, given how niche science fiction has become as a genre. I guess the studio is really hoping that if the IP isn’t enough to bring people in, then the star power of Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and the rest probably would.

Dune: Part Two is set to hit cinemas on March 15, 2024.

Dune: Part Two Delayed to 2024 Amid Strike https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-part-two-delayed-to-2024-amid-strike/ Tue, 29 Aug 2023 08:04:34 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78406 The WGA and SAG AFTRA Strike rages on, and while some studio heads may be content with waiting for the writers and actors to run out of steam, it looks like the industry has just taken one massive blow with a delay of one of the biggest movies of the year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two has been moved from its November release date to March 15, 2024. This has also caused the studio to push back several other films including Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire as well as the animated Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.

Suprisingly, the studio is still keeping their releases set for December which includes movies like The Color Purple, Wonka, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Actors for Dune: Part Two were expected to start promotion next month, but seeing that the strike still has no end in sight, it looks like the studios don’t want to risk the marketing of the film—which is half the battle. Some actually speculate that part of The Flash’s poor reception and hype was because star Ezra Miller wasn’t allowed to do any of the press; and the only thing audiences were hearing about them online were their altercations in Hawaii.

With Dune: Part Two having a star-studded cast which includes Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem, Austin Butler, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Lea Seydoux, and more, the studio may not want to waste all that star power when it comes to the promotion of their big-budget sci-fi epic.

Watch out for Dune: Part Two when it comes out March 15, 2024.

The Spice Must Flow in Latest Trailer for Dune: Part Two https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-dune-part-two-released/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 16:30:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77530 Dune fans held their breath when Denis Villeneuve’s Dune released mid-pandemic, but we’re getting a sequel, and we’re set to see the rise of Paul Atreides and the Fremen. Just in, we have a new trailer, and it gives us our first look at Christopher Walken as the Emperor and Austin Butler as the Harkonnen golden boy, Feyd Rautha.

Check this out:

Here’s the synopsis:

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Though cast members from the first movie like Jason Momoa and Oscar Isaac won’t be coming back, the trailer does confirm that Josh Brolin’s Gurney Halleck will be coming back, as well as Dave Bautista’s Glossu Rabban.

As for new cast members, we have Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan as well as Lea Seydoux who is playing another member of the Bene Gesserit. Tim Blake Nelson was also said to have joined the cast, but we have yet to see what his character will look like in the movie.

Admittedly, fans were surprised when Dune managed to get a sequel greenlit. Though Villeneuve is a critical darling, his projects are known to be theatrical flops, like with Blade Runner 2049. Hopefully Dune: Part Two manages to engage a bigger audience this time around.

Dune: Part Two releases in theaters on Nov. 3.

The teaser also gives us a look at some new incoming characters, including Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) who was actually the narrator of the books. Dave Bautista Teases a Future Project with Denis Villenueve After Dune: Part Two https://www.geekfeed.com/bautista-teases-a-future-project-with-villenueve/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 03:25:07 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73179 Dave Bautista has been working with director Denis Villeneuve since Blade Runner 2049, and a lot of people are excited for him return as ‘The Beast’ Rabban in the upcoming Dune sequel.

Though Dune: Part Two is set to mark the conclusion of Villneuve’s Dune adaptation, Bautista does tease that he has a future project in the works with the sci-fi auteur. He tells Collider:

“I got to spend much more time with Denny, which I crave for because I love working with Denny. And Denny, again, he just brings out the best in me and this was such an amazing experience… Before I left the film—[we were] talking about something else and I’m not gonna say until it actually happens, but he knows that my dream is to work with him as a number one because I really think that Denny will show me how good I can be.”

If anything, Bautista’s role as Rabban was kind of small in Dune, since all of his scenes are really just him reporting to Baron Harkonnen. With the sequel, it would be great to actually see Rabban in the battlefield and finding out how he got the nickname, “The Beast”.

So far, Bautista’s career is considered to be one of the most interesting ‘wrestler-turned-actor’ stories. While the Rock pretty much plays the same role in all his blockbuster films, Bautista is focused on building a fimography which includes some of the most celebrated modern directors today. He’s worked with Denis Villenueve, Rian Johnson, Zack Snyder, and M. Night Shyamalan; I’m just waiting for that Christopher Nolan or Robert Eggers collaboration.

Dune: Part Two comes to theaters on Nov. 3.

Dune: Part Two has Wrapped Filming https://www.geekfeed.com/dune-part-two-has-wrapped-filming/ Wed, 14 Dec 2022 09:30:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72464 Fans breathed a sigh of relief when a sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune was announced. The movie had been in production over the past few months, and now we have news that it’s ready to start post-prod.

Franchise star Timothee Chalamet has confirmed that Dune: Part Two has wrapped filming, and shared this image of himself with his father Marc Chalamet:

We don’t have an official look at the sequel yet, but the film is set to cover the second half of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic Dune. With the first movie having Paul Atreides (Chalamet) joining the Fremen into the desert, we should expect the sequel to have him fulfil the prophecy of the Kwizatz Haderach and take on the Emperor of the known Universe.

Besides returning cast members like Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson, the sequel is expected to give larger roles to Fremen characters played by Zendaya and Javier Bardem. Of course, we are also expected to meet some new faces in the film, including Florence Pugh who will play Princess Irulan and Christopher Walken who is playing the Emperor Shaddam IV. It’s also worth noting that we’re also going to be meeting the Harkonnen’s golden boy Feyd-Rautha who is going to be played by Elvis actor Austin Butler.

With a release set for November 2023, we might have to wait further into 2023 before we get our first teaser. My guess is we get something six months before release—so maybe sometime around May. That’s just speculation on my part.

Dune: Part Two is slated for a release in theaters on Nov. 3, 2023.
