The final season is currently underway, and Netflix has decided to drop a first look at Stranger Things 5.

Check this out:

Title reveals have also been made for the upcoming episodes of the fifth season, and it’s been confirmed that the story will take place on “The Fall of 1987”. Check out the reveal here:

Looking back at the photos though, it’s kind of odd that the school seems to be functioning like normal, seeing as there was a huge earthquake that split the town of Hawkins into multiple pieces.

We don’t know how the fifth season will actually handle it, but I do have a feeling that maybe the rift will somehow be fixed, but the Upside Down will just keep leaking into the real world and continue to mess everything up for the citizens of Hawkins.

By the end of the series though, fans are hoping that the show will answer all the definitive questions of what the Upside Down is and how exactly it functions in connection to our world. The Duffers have been said to know exactly what’s going on from the start, but the mystery has been going on for four seasons, and with this being the last one, fans think they deserve to have all their big questions answered.

Watch out for the final season of Stranger Things when it hits Netflix sometime in 2025.

A24 Crosses E.T. and Gremlins in New Trailer for The Legend of Ochi https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailer-for-the-legend-of-ochi-released/ Thu, 17 Oct 2024 10:33:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84811 Audiences were pretty clear on what kind of movies A24 would deliver, but the studio has since been expanding to accommodate different genres—like this year’s Civil War from Alex Garland. Now they want to move into magic-realism/kid-friendly territory, and they’ve dropped the first trailer for The Legend of Ochi starring Isaiah Saxon, Finn Wolfhard, Willem Dafoe, and Emily Watson.

Check the new trailer for The Legend of Ochi right here:

This looks to be the feature-length movie debut of director Isaiah Saxon, who does seem to have a penchant for colourful fantasy creatures.

Storywise, it does look like the usual fantasy trope of ‘a child saving a weird creature that the adults have told her all her life was dangerous’ which we’ve seen in a few films already like E.T., Pete’s Dragon, and Iron Giant. TV Tropes actually calls this trope “Humans are the Real Monsters”.

Though the trope has been seen time and again, the A24 branding does come with the promise of sweeping visuals and overall artsy vibe—which is pretty much showcased in the trailer.

Plus, it looks like The Legend of Ochi is supposed to be in a modern setting, but Willem Dafoe is running around in fantasy armor, so that should make for a very interesting story.

I also think it’s fascinating that Finn Wolfhard should be cast in the film, since his big break, Stranger Things was also considered to be a pseudo-remake of E.T.—only Wolfhard’s E.T. was a stranger girl named Eleven played by Millie Bobby Brown.

The Legend of Ochi is expected to hit theatres on March 27, 2025.

Netflix Drops Behind-The-Scenes Look at Final Season of Stranger Things https://www.geekfeed.com/bts-look-at-final-season-of-stranger-things/ Thu, 18 Jul 2024 10:32:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83345 Maybe any visuals aren’t ready for Stranger Things Season 5 yet, but Netflix has just dropped a new look behind-the-scenes giving us a status update on one of the most anticipated series on the platform.

Check this out:

We’re officially halfway through filming the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Take it all in nerds, we’re going on one last final ride!

We can’t really infer what to expect storywise when it comes to Season 5, but the trailer does confirm all of the returning cast mates including the original kids, as well as the teen characters.

The season is also introducing a new character played by Terminator icon Linda Hamilton. It’s unclear who she’s playing yet, but with Doctor Brenner gone, someone else has to be the face of the government, and Hamilton definitely has the screen presence for a no-nonsense military-type.

We don’t have much details on new characters, but we do see a chubby kid with glasses standing next to Erica (Priah Ferguson), so maybe the gang gets one more adorable kid to join all the weirdness that’s going to be ensuing in Hawkins for one last time (hopefully).

We don’t know when we can get a first official trailer, but with production ongoing and special effects expected to be extensive, Netflix may have to wait until later in the year to give fans their first look.

Stranger Things 5 is set to premiere sometime next year.

New York is Haunted Again in New Trailers for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire https://www.geekfeed.com/new-trailers-for-ghostbusters-frozen-empire/ Tue, 30 Jan 2024 09:55:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80830 Sony may have fumbled a Ghostbusters reboot back in 2016, but the sequel/reboot route seems to be working. After Afterlife, we’re now gearing up for the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Just in, Sony has dropped two new trailers (the second being an international trailer), and they both go at the story in different ways. Here’s the one for the US release:

Admittedly the official trailer does seem to lean to heavily on fanservice and everyone recognizing Walter Peck and all the other nods; but the international trailer does lean in more on the spooky/comedy vibes of the franchise, and we get to see a lot more including Winston’s new Ghostbusters lab. Check it:

With Afterlife leaning in on a returning villain in the form of Gozer, this sequel does promise to introduce us to some new ghosts (and some we’ve met before). While the Ghostbusters simply trapped the ghosts in earlier films, this new one is now all about studying them and finding out a place where they can be stored.

It’s also worth noting that James Acaster’s look as the new technician strongly resembles that of the animated Egon Spengler from the cartoons, with the wacky blonde hair and gray suit. Harold Ramis himself may be gone, but at least they found a way to bring Egon back along with the rest of the original crew.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Watch out for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire when it comes out in theaters on March 21.

Stranger Things Star Noah Schnapp Comes Out as Gay https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-star-noah-schnapp-comes-out/ Thu, 12 Jan 2023 16:22:50 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72864 The latest season of Stranger Things had given Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) a closeted gay arc, and fans had already suspected that Will was gay from the earlier seasons. What’s interesting is,  Schnapp had decided to recently come out of the closet as gay himself.

He posts on his TikTok who he had finally come out to his friends and family as gay with them replying, ‘We know.’ Here’s the post:

@noahschnappI guess I’m more similar to will than I thought♬ original sound – princessazula0

Schnapp had also captioned the clip, I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.”

Ever since the announcement, Schnapp had received a lot of support online, and a lot of fans have actually been reacting like his family, saying they were expecting it the whole time. Some were even joking that he plays Will Byers so well in the show because he himself was a closeted gay, but that’s probably just a coincidence.

Going back to the series though, it seems that Will Byers will once again be found in the spotlight of the final season focused on the finding of Will after he goes missing, it’s probably fitting that the show should end with Will confronting the monsters from the Upside Down.

I’ll admit, this is starting to look like the show is going to end with Will eventually dying, but I hope that the Duffer Brothers manage to get to a conclusion that’s a bit more hopeful and a lot less predictable.

The fifth season of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix sometime in 2024.

Netflix Reveals Title for Stranger Things S05 Premiere Episode https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-s05-premiere-episode-title-reveal/ Mon, 07 Nov 2022 14:58:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71915 The last season of Stranger Things had ended on a major cliffhanger, but we’ll have to wait until 2024 to see what’s going to happen to the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana. Since it’s Stranger Things Day, Netflix has decided to tease us with the title of the premiere episode of Stranger Things 5.

As per the official post, the first episode of the season will be titled The Crawl. Check this out:

We don’t really know what ‘The Crawl’ means yet, but the show has been notorious for these ambiguous episode titles—that’s why they can always reveal them before the season premieres. With a significant amount of the town going under, I wonder just what the title entails for the characters. Will someone have to crawl through some tight area to save a bunch of trapped people? Will the Upside Down slowly ‘crawl’ its way up to the real world?

With a majority of the last season consisting of the characters separated and going through their own arcs, I’m hoping that the final season will have everyone together this time around. Besides the exciting mysteries, a lot of fans think the winning formula of Stranger Things has always been the character chemistry, and I’m eager to see what Mike and his gang will be up to, now that they’re a bit more grown and the problems have just gotten way out of proportion.

Stranger Things 5 is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2024.

Stranger Things 5 will Take Place Entirely in Hawkins https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-5-takes-place-all-in-hawkins/ Fri, 08 Jul 2022 16:49:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=69946 [SPOILERS FOR THE STRANGER THINGS 4 FINALE]

Stranger Things 4 may have been spread out across multiple locations, but we should expect everything to stay in Hawkins when it comes to the final season.

Talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Discussing Film), Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that the story of Season 5 will take place entirely in Hawkins. What’s more the show will give us “a lot of the original groupings and pairings that we had in Season 1.”

Since the group dynamics have pretty much changed since the first season, it’s going to be interesting to see some old pairings come back together and see just how much the characters have grown. We should probably expect some more Steve and Nancy pairings in the next season, but I would love there to be a redemption arc for Jonathan, who was pretty much in the background for the fourth season. We might also get more of the original trio of Dustin, Mike, and Lucas, but I wonder where new characters like Max and Robin could end up.

With the way the fourth season ended, I’m curious how they could approach season 5. I mean, how are the characters supposed to have any kind of downtime with a huge portal having cut across Hawkins? Will there even be any room for mysteries this time around?

Personally, I think the Duffers have been hitting it out of the park with every season. Sure there have been stumbles, but overall each season has been an exciting watch, and the characters are all well-written and developed.

Stranger Things 5 is set to release in 2024, but you can watch the complete Season 4 now streaming on Netflix.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife Sequel Gets Release Date and Working Title https://www.geekfeed.com/ghostbusters-afterlife-sequel-gets-release-date/ Fri, 01 Jul 2022 07:03:35 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=68260 The Ghostbusters franchise may have stumbled back in 2016, but Afterlife was pretty well-received, and it’s lead to an introduction of an all-new Ghostbustin’ team. Though we haven’t had any update on the sequel since release, Sony has finally revealed just when Phoebe Spengler and he rest of the gang will be coming back to the big screen.

THR reports that the next Ghostbusters movie has been codenamed Firehouse, and it’s set to hit theaters December 20, 2023. Director Jason Reitman had this to say about the project:

“At the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ecto-1 is driving into Manhattan, returning to its home. And before anyone ever heard the title Afterlife, we called it Rust City. Which would not have made sense to anyone until they saw the movie. The code name for the next movie is ‘Firehouse.’”

There are just so many elements that make the Ghostbusters films what they are, and Afterlife didn’t really get that New York setting or that ‘getting-into-business’ vibe that the original had. With this sequel though, we are promised a return to the classic Ghostbusters HQ; and it’s possible that the Spenglers will try to make money out of all the ghostbustin’ equipment that they have in Egon’s farm.

Since we are back in the city, though, I hope that we get more involvement from vet actors Dan Aykroyd or Ernie Hudson. While it’s great that they appeared in Afterlife, it did feel kind of forced that they appeared mostly in the end. It would be great if they were more involved with the story this time around. At least, that’s what I think.

Catch the next Ghostbusters film when it hits theaters on Dec.20, 2023.

Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 Gets a New Trailer Ahead of Next Week’s Release https://www.geekfeed.com/stranger-things-4-vol-2-gets-a-new-trailer-ahead-of-next-weeks-release/ Sun, 26 Jun 2022 17:42:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66643 Netflix is doing something different with Stranger Things this season, what with the longer episode times and mid-season break, but the show is ready to come back next week, and everyone wants to know what will be up with all the characters spread throughout the state (or rather, the globe).

Just in, we have a new trailer for Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2, and it picks up on all the narrative threads from Volume 1:

While it did end in a cliffhanger, the trailer does confirm that Nancy manages to break out of Vecna’s trance, but we don’t know what kind of lasting effects that could be sticking with her after that Joyce, Murray, and Hopper are still in Russia, and they may have found a piece of the Mind Flayer that the commies have found to experiment on.

With us having watched all the characters come together in previous seasons, it looks like the Duffer Brothers wanted to up the challenge by having everyone go apart with their own separate missions. Even though a reunion is inevitable, I think that each group of friends is still fun to watch, and it’s going to be all the more meaningful when we finally see everyone come together.

Besides, the new characters that we’ve met have all been pretty fun to watch. Besides the return of Lucas’ sassy sister Erica, a lot of fans have also found themselves enamoured with Hawkins ‘freak’ Eddie. Not to mention the Duffers have created a great new character with Vecna.

Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 returns to Netflix this coming July 1.

Eleven Doesn’t Have Powers in New Stranger Things 4 Trailer https://www.geekfeed.com/eleven-doesnt-have-powers-in-new-stranger-things-4-trailer/ Wed, 13 Apr 2022 17:28:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64852 The pandemic may have caused a major delay, but Stranger Things is finally coming back to Netflix, and fans can’t wait to see what happened to our favorite gang of kids from Hawkins, Indiana. We just got a new trailer for the fourth season, and it reveals a lot of the plot—as well as the appearance of a whole new villain.

Check the Stranger Things season 4 trailer down here:

With mystery being a very integral part to the success of Stranger Things, the new trailer didn’t come with an overall synopsis for the season. Instead, fans are left to put together pieces of the story, with the reveal that Eleven has lost her powers and teases of Hopper’s time in Russia.

We also get a look at the season’s new villain, which is suspected to be the biggest bad of them all. With the Demogorgon revealed to be a mindless beast and the Mind Flayer actually having sentience, we should expect this new villain to really give the gang a run for their money, seeing as they’re now dealing with something that knows exactly what the Upside Down is and how it’s connected to their world.

Stranger Things has been confirmed to only last five seasons, but that doesn’t mean we’ll get shorted on episodes. The fourths season has been split into two with the second half set to come out in July. We should also expect the same with Season 5, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Catch Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 when it releases on Netflix on May 27.

Duffer Brothers Say Upside Down will Finally be Fully Explained https://www.geekfeed.com/duffer-brothers-say-upside-down-will-finally-be-fully-explained/ Tue, 12 Apr 2022 11:17:52 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64804 We’ve known about the ‘Upside Down’ since the first season of Stranger Things, and over the course of four seasons, this alternate dimension has remained mostly a mystery. With the show having two seasons left, creators the Duffer Brothers promise that audiences will be getting solid answers as to what the Upside Down is.

Speaking to Deadline, the Ross Duffer explained, Back when we did Season 1, Netflix just kept going ‘Can you explain all this mythology to us?’… So we wrote this giant 20-page document, which talked about everything in terms of what was going on and what exactly the Upside Down was. And then each season we’re just sort of peeling back the layers of that onion, so to speak. But this season, we really wanted to really get into it and [revealing] some of those answers. But to do that properly, we needed time, so it just became bigger and bigger.”

The Duffer Brothers say that the upcoming season has been one of the longest they’ve ever made, and there aren’t any episodes that have a runtime of less than an hour. With the characters also having spread very far away from each other—Hopper the farthest in Russia—the two have compared the scope of the season to that of Game of Thrones.

While the entire series hasn’t been perfect, Stranger Things remains to be one of the biggest shows on Netflix. We don’t know if the showrunners will be able to pull off that perfect ending, but at least we know they have this whole thing planned out to the end.

The fourth season of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix this May 27.

Watch the First 10 Minutes of Ghostbusters: Afterlife https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-the-first-10-minutes-of-ghostbusters-afterlife/ Sat, 08 Jan 2022 16:45:01 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63367 Ghostbusters: Afterlife had just hit digital, and with some fans not being able to catch its theatrical screening last year, Sony has released the first 10 minutes of the film to get people hyped for the home release.

Watch the Afterlife video down here:

Having already seen the film, I thought that the epilogue itself was already 10 minutes long, but it looks like the released clip is extensive enough to have us meet our cast of main characters including Carrie Coon’s Callie and her children Phoebe (McKenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard). We even manage to get far as them moving into the spooky house from the epilogue.

Though Ghostbusters (2016) tried to reboot the franchise, poor reception has opted for Sony to take a step back and just continue the canon of the first two Ghostbusters films. At least Afterlife was better-received, and while some fanservice scenes felt kind of off, the film does set the stage for a new generation of Ghostbusters and we also have a lovely tribute to the late Harold Ramis who died back in 2014.

As of now, no follow-up to Afterlife has been announced, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too long until Phoebe and her family come back for some more spectral ass kicking.

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is now available on digital.

Eleven is Back in New Teaser for Stranger Things 4 https://www.geekfeed.com/eleven-is-back-in-new-teaser-for-stranger-things-4/ Tue, 09 Nov 2021 15:13:45 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62330 We may not be getting Stranger Things this year, but Netflix is making sure to keep audiences hyped for the return of their biggest show. While we didn’t get to see Eleven in the TUDUM 2021 teaser, we do have a look at her life with the Byerses in California in a new teaser for Stranger Things 4.

Watch the teaser down here:

Though the show’s main setting has been Hawkins, Indiana for three seasons, this is the first time we actually get to follow some characters outside of the town. Granted, it’s very likely Eleven and Will will be coming back to hang out with Mike and the gang when spring break arrives.

There is also the case of the subtle tease of “004/004” in the video description. While I thought that it was a hint that the series could be dropping on April 4, it’s likely to mean something else. Some suspect that it could be teasing more of Eleven’s ‘siblings’ making their debut, but since the last episode featuring “008” was one of the weakest episodes in the entire show, fans are hoping that the Duffer Brothers find a more creative approach when it comes to bringing out more characters from the Hawkins lab. Could “004” be twins? Or could they be the first ‘evil’ test subject that Eleven and the others have to band against?

Though the show has been very obvious with their inspiration, Stranger Things actually shines by making their homages feel more fresh and original. Stephen King easter eggs aside, it was actually pretty fun how they managed to include the freaking Terminator in their last season without it feeling too obvious.

Stranger Things returns to Netflix the summer of 2022.

New Stranger Things 4 Sneak Peek Confirms 2022 Release https://www.geekfeed.com/new-stranger-things-4-sneak-peek-confirms-2022-release/ Mon, 09 Aug 2021 17:48:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60952 While Netflix shows are hit and miss, one hit is definitely the nostalgia-fuelled adventure romp that is Stranger Things. After a delay from the pandemic, the show is back on track, and we now have a small sneak peek as well as a release window.

Watch the Stranger Things sneak peek down here:

We don’t really get much from the video, but we do see how all the Stranger Things kids have aged up. We also have a look at Hopper with a flame thrower. No explanation has been given to his return, but I’m waiting to see what the Duffer Brothers have in store for him. Could it be time travel? An evil clone borne of the Upside Down?

We also get the tease of more of Eleven’s ‘siblings’. Though the meeting of one was the weakest point of the season, hopefully the show has learned a more interesting way to introduce these kids with special powers. With the show’s reputation for paying homage to several other properties, I wonder what Season 4 is going to be calling back to this time.

While nothing was confirmed in the video itself, the description reads, “uʍop ǝpᴉsdn ǝɥʇ uᴉ llɐ,ʎ ǝǝs Stranger Things returns in 2022.” Though the last season got a summer release date, I’m hoping the release of Season 4 will line up more closely to Halloween.

No specific release date has been set for Stranger Things 4, but the show is expected to come back sometime in 2022.

New Ghostbusters: Afterlife Trailer Features Returning Cast Members https://www.geekfeed.com/new-ghostbusters-afterlife-trailer-features-returning-cast-members/ Wed, 28 Jul 2021 10:07:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=60765 Ghostbusters: Afterlife was originally set to come out last June, but the film had been delayed to November due to the ongoing pandemic, and studios trying to fix their release schedules. With the opening of cinemas on the rise, Sony has seen fit to drop a whole new trailer giving us a better look at the film.

Watch the trailer for Afterlife down here:

Though we’re not expecting a return from every original cast member, we do have the appearance of Annie Potts, who plays the secretary Janine in the original films. With Egon and her teasing a romance in the original films (and consummating them in the animated one), it looks like she is the Spengler matriarch. The end of the preview also teases the return of Dan Aykroyd’s Ray who seems to be the running an occult book shop.

Besides that, we also have a statue that looks a lot like Gozer from the original film, complete with the flat top. We don’t know if she’ll be making a comeback in the film, but we do see Paul Rudd’s character being chased by one of the demon dogs.

After the failed reboot of 2016, it looks like Sony is backtracking on its direction for Ghostbusters and going the sequel/reboot route. With a young cast at the helm, we could be looking at a whole new generation of Ghostbusters. Hopefully this time the story will manage to properly revive the franchise.

When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Catch Ghostbusters: Afterlife when it comes out this Nov. 11.
