With Galactus just being a cloud in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, it looks like First Steps is going to be embracing the full wackiness of a giant alien guy in a suit. We don’t know exactly how he works yet, but I would love it if he was still just actor Ralph Ineson wearing a practical outfit rather than a full CG character.
With Fant4tic really trying to embrace the dark, edgy version of the Fantastic Four, it looks like First Steps is going to go the complete opposite direction by being colorful and hopeful, with fully comic-accurate villains.
In a comic book movie climate where realism has been king for so long, it’s kind of refreshing to see something that embraces the wackiness of the original comics, yet still taking it completely straight—based on what we see in the trailers.
With Marvel movies having become a mixed bag ever since Avengers: Endgame, it does seem like Marvel Studios really needs this win with Fantastic Four. Either way, the film still looks amazing, and could be the brand reboot that gets people excited about the MCU again.
Fantastic Four: First Steps comes to cinemas on July 25.
]]>While nothing official has been confirmed, a new clip from the film seems to suggest that Sue is indeed pregnant and will find out in the movie. Check this out:
— Fantastic Four (@FantasticFour) April 13, 2025
Funnily enough, there are some people complaining that the delivery of the lines is all wrong, but anyone who’s been dissecting comic book movies for years can simply infer from the clip that Sue is pregnant and Johnny has no idea.
It’s the reaction when Johnny says that she’s late, and she think he means her period, but he clarifies that they’re late for dinner and Sue tries to save her reaction by saying, “Yes, we are.”
There had also been speculation of Sue’s pregnancy way back during the release of the teaser where fans can notice that she kind of waddles like a pregnant person in the opening interview—and she’s using her powers to hide the belly bump.
Some fans have also pointed out that the clip itself has some interesting marketing going around it. One post says, “Clip is 4 seconds long, contains 4 camera shots, posted at 4:44 PM in PST, 44 minutes later than usual…… nice.”
With this being the third take on the Fantastic Four in cinemas, a pregnant Sue Storm hasn’t been tackled on the big screen before, and a lot think that this could have something to do with Franklin Richards being an important factor in the upcoming Avengers movies.
We don’t know much about what he MCU has planned, but hopefully the dust settles with a new status quo for Marvel that opens the door for more creative projects.
Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to come out in cinemas on July 25.
]]>Check them out here:
Johnny is a duelist in the game, and like Iron Man, focuses mainly on being a flighty hero, zipping around and throwing fire at enemies. What’s neat is that he also has a team-up with Storm where they can combine their attacks and make a fiery hurricane with added damage that can even destroy environments.
As for Ben, he’s a vanguard of the team, and while he’s not as mobile as the Hulk, he does make up for it for being literally solid as a rock; having a passive that doesn’t allow anyone to displace him from where he is. His melee attacks also seem to come out pretty fast, and his big health makes him very hard to kill.
It’s worth noting that the Fantastic Four also have a team-up with the Invisible Woman that allows for them to gain bonus health as long as they’re in the same team. Even with just four, they already make a well-balanced team with two duelists, a strategist, and a vanguard.
Hopefully players will find out who the optimal teammates for the Fantastic Four will be down the line.
Ben and Johnny come to Marvel Rivals on Feb. 21. Marvel Rivals is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
]]>Flash forward to 2025 and Marvel Studios is set to revamp the characters for the MCU. While Teller won’t be involved with the movie, he does have this to say to the team of the next film (via THR):
“I’ve known Pedro [Pascal] for a couple of years, man I’m wishing them all the best… I don’t wish anybody to be a part of a bomb… I just wish them the best. I saw the little trailer and I thought it looked fantastic, I’m very excited for them.”
Teller’s Fant4stic came out back in 2015 and starred himself as Reed Richards, Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm. There are probably multiple reasons why the film failed at the box office, but one of the most common problems cited is that of director Josh Trank who has somehow been chaotic throughout the process of making the movie (allegedly).
There’s also the case of Fox said to have been meddling with the original tone of the movie and demanding several (very glaring) reshoots.
For now, the new team consists of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It’s unclear if Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom is going to be making an appearance, but the main big bad for First Steps is going to be Galactus—and he won’t be a giant cloud this time.
Catch Fantastic Four: First Steps when it comes to cinemas on July 25.
]]>Looking at this specific clip from the film, some have guessed that Marvel may have hidden the fact that Sue Storm could be having a belly bump in this scene because she does a sort of waddle that only pregnant people tend to do. Check this out:
ever since someone said she’s clearly pregnant and they edited it for the trailer, it’s all I can see https://t.co/ll0BMCxjE8
— Vic
(@Alias_Trinity) February 10, 2025
Some fans in the comments have also pointed out the position of Sue’s shoulders which could mean that she’s trying to keep her balance with something heavy in the front.
Another interesting theory is that she’s actually supposed to look like that in the film, but she’s hiding her pregnancy with her powers. Since the Four are celebrities in this universe, it’s likely that they wouldn’t want the attention on a baby, so Sue and Reed decided it was best to hide the pregnancy until the time was right for them to announce it.
There have been rumors going around about the story including Franklin Richards, and so far, no kids have been shown in any teasers. It’s possible the movie could move around the timeline from their accident to their established celebrity, but having Franklin born at some point in the movie could be something new for the Fantastic Four after decades of adaptations over the years.

— Film Stories: magazines, podcast, live shows, web (@filmstories) February 4, 2025
According to The Wrap, a Marvel rep has confirmed that AI wasn’t used in the making of the posters, but to some fans, the images speak for themselves.
Admittedly AI has become such a hot-button issue when it comes to movies and entertainment. Besides the fact that some people consider it stealing; some artists consider AI to be used by companies to save money instead of using an actual artist to come up with their assets.
The Brutalist was considered to be an achievement before it was revealed that AI was used to alter the actors’ voices to be able to sound more authentic Hungarian. Late Night with the Devil would have been a charming low budget horror movie until fans pointed out that there was AI used in some images.
I’ll admit, some people can get a bit extreme when it comes condemning the use of AI, but with blatant errors like this from a multi-billion-dollar company like Marvel, fans and other creatives are sure to have a volatile reaction.

]]>Talking to Metro, game director Guangyun Chen has confirmed that NetEase Games plans to drop a new hero for Marvel Rivals every six weeks. “We’ll actually be breaking down each season into two halves,” says Chen, “The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero.”
For context, the drop of Season 1 a.k.a. Eternal Night Falls saw the release of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman as playable characters. Six weeks from that launch, fans are expecting to get the release of the Human Torch and the Thing. “
Despite the vampire theme of the season, the devs decided to release the Fantastic Four instead of Blade, who has already leaked last month. Chen even said, “Our choice of heroes will be guided by the overall gameplay experience or theme that we want to create for each season.” Either Marvel forced the Fantastic Four to be introduced right away to keep synergy with the movie coming in July, or they just wanted to introduce Doctor Doom’s rival Reed Richards early into narrative.
Either way, it does look like NetEase has a wealth of incoming characters to keep their roster stacked for the year. Besides the Four, there have also been leaks for characters like Hit-Monkey, Captain Marvel, MODOK, Angela, Blade, and Emma Frost.
My fingers are still crossed we get confirmation for Gwenpool soon; because you can’t have Jeff without a playable Gwenpool.
Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
]]>Though Serkis may have his Marvel days behind him, it’s been revealed that he’s actually had a hand at working on The Thing/Ben Grimm for Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. This was confirmed by actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Moss-Bachrach says:
“Andy Serkis, who’s sort of the godfather of motion capture, he’s got this company called The Imaginarium, which is at Pinewood Studio where we shot Fantastic Four, and he was very generous.”
While the Thing suit was originally practical for the 2000s Fantastic Four movies, this time he’s going to be completely motion capture—like Marvel did with the Hulk and Thanos. Moss-Bachrach describes the process:
“I’ve seen a very crude rendering as it takes a while to build this stuff. They have so many animators working on this. I wear these motion capture suits, two cameras right here so they’re capturing absolutely everything, every nuance, every expression, every thought in my eye.”
Though we’ve gotten a look at photos of the Thing for the movie, we have never really seen it in action yet. What we do know that he’s going to be fairly large—larger than the Thing in the 2000s movies—and he’s going to have the prominent brow that was a feature of the Thing in the comics.
With the movie set to come out in July, fans are wondering when Marvel is going to be ready to give fans the first official trailer for the film. If anything, they could be gearing up for the release of Captain America 4; maybe after that movie comes out, we can finally get a look at Marvel’s First Family.

]]>Here’s the breakdown for Mr. Fantastic (Duelist):
Though he’s classified as a Duelist, a lot of Marvel Rivals players note that Mr. Fantastic’s kit actually makes him a very versatile hero, with some abilities giving him traits that are closer to being a Vanguard. If anything, his Inflated form and power set have reminded other players of One Piece hero Monkey D. Luffy.
As for the Invisible Woman (Strategist), here’s what she can do:
For Sue Storm’s kit, it was obvious that she was going to turn invisible, but her Force Fields actually have a lot of utility in the game, being able to create AOEs that damage enemies inside them, plus she can also pull or knockback enemies as well.
Her ultimate is pretty interesting in that it creates an area that heals teammates and makes them invisible. That being said, they can still be damaged, but it is a nice twist to the Invisible Woman’s skillset.
Why can’t Sombra do anything that useful?
Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman come to Marvel Rivals on Jan. 10. The game is now playable for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
]]>Here’s the official description for the season:
Darkness engulfs New York as the Timestream Entanglement leaves Doctor Strange trapped in the Entangled Astral Plane, scattering the Darkhold pages. Dracula and Doctor Doom disrupt the moon’s orbit, plunging the city into eternal night and unleashing an army of vampiric creatures. With the world on the brink, the Fantastic Four join forces with iconic Marvel heroes, standing together in the epic battle to break the mystical darkness with science. Ignite the battle against Dracula with the Fantastic Four in Marvel Rivals!
With the official launch of the season still a few days away, there’s still a lot of time for NetEase to drop some proper character ability breakdowns for the Fantastic Four. Though skills for Mr. Fantastic and the Human Torch have been leaked for weeks, we barely know anything about how the Thing or the Invisible Woman play yet; at best we know that the Thing will be a Vanguard, and Sue Storm will be a Strategist.
It’s rumoured that the Fantastic Four will be released two at a time; two dropping at the beginning of the season, and another two coming out mid-season. Though the Fantastic Four may be at the center of it all, some are hoping that the Battle Pass will also come with some good cosmetics for other heroes as well.
With the whole Dracula theme of Season 1, maybe fans can expect some more gothic outfits for some existing heroes.
Season 1 for Marvel Rivals begins on Jan. 10. Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.

We don’t have any details about what’s happening on the scene, but some are guessing that it will involve Johnny going ‘flame on!’ and flying off; some even speculate that this could be the first time that he’ll actually activate his powers deliberately or attempt to fly.
Just for context, this was Johnny’s first flight in the original Fantastic Four film:
It’s unclear yet on how Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm is going to be different, but when it comes to the character, he’s always been characterized as a mischievous younger brother of the bunch. With Evans’ Torch really embracing on the adrenaline junkie bad boy image of Johnny Storm, I am curious as to how Quinn’s character will turn out. Will he be a cool guy based on the retro 50s that the timeline is based on? Or will he just be a generic mischievous member of the Four who is constantly poking fun at Ben Grimm?
We don’t know when Marvel is ready to give us an official look at the movie yet, but hopefully when the preview finally drops we get to see more than just what’s been in the leaks.

]]>It’s not clear what Marvel has in store for the Scarlet Witch, but a rumor suggests that she could be teaming up with a major Avengers villain—Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Wanda is expected to be a “major player” in the Avengers movies, and she’ll be sharing a lot of screentime with RDJ. Here’s the post:
I hear Wanda will be a main player in both Avengers films
Will share a lot of screen time with RDJ's Doom (as his lover?) pic.twitter.com/y59oBx5qt0
— MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH) October 9, 2024
Admittedly MTTSH has been wrong in the past, but the pairing of Doom and Wanda has already happened in the comics. Plus, with Doom expected to be of a scientific intellectual, a team-up with Scarlet Witch could give him a huge advantage when it comes to magic—which Doom was also proficient in when it came to the comics.
https://twitter.com/TheBarzul/status/1819339211771691089
Already some are not a fan of the pairing since Wanda is supposed to be with Vision, but seeing as he’s dead and a version of him is flying around that doesn’t remember his relationship with Wanda, a short alliance with Doom could make the two a literal power couple.
Admittedly, I like when Doom is in a love triangle with Reed and Sue Storm, but they already did that in the original Fantastic Four movies, so pairing Doom with someone like Wanda could shake things up a bit romance-wise.
Avengers: Doomsday is expected to hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
]]>As it turns out, it’s possible that the two won’t even be rivals at all—at least, when it comes to the 616 timeline.
According to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, the relationship between Reed Richards and Victor is going to be more akin of that between Tony Stark and Thanos in the Infinity Saga. Here’s what he said:
“Doom and Reed don’t really interact in the Fantastic Four movie. I’d like to think of it more as Thanos and Tony in Infinity War, where like, Tony knew a threat from space was coming, but he didn’t know exactly who it was until Infinity War, yet Thanos knew nearly everything he needed to know about Tony. Just switch Thanos with Doom and Tony with Reed.”
This should be disappointing to a lot of Marvel fans since the Reed Richards/Doom rivalry in the comics is iconic; and while it’s not Thanos and Tony, the fact that the two kind of match each others’ freak is what makes watching them clash interesting.
Who knows, maybe there could be some changes when it comes to how they’re tackling the character. I mean, plot points change all the time with a franchise like this, but Marvel has done major origin upheavals for the big screen before.
One of the biggest examples was with Ultron. In the movies, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner create Ultron, but in the comics, he’s famously built by scientist Hank Pym a.k.a. Ant-Man a.k.a. Giant-Man.
Until Marvel gives us some more details regarding Reed Richards relationship with Victor, all we can really do is hang on to rumors.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theatres on May 1, 2026.
]]>According to insider @MyTimeToShineH (via @update_marvel), Morgan Stark may be set to return to the MCU, and she’s going to be played by Katherine Langford.
Just in case you’re wondering where Langford was in Endgame, her scene was actually deleted. She was originally cast to play an adult Morgan Stark who Tony sees in a vision after he snaps the Infinity Gauntlet —much like how Thanos sees a young Gamora when he erases half the universe.
Apparently, test audiences couldn’t make the connection that Langford was an adult version of Stark’s daughter, so they ultimately just decided to cut the scene.
Ever since Endgame, Morgan Stark hasn’t really been teased for anything in the future, but she could very well provide a kind of emotional anchor for a character like Doctor Doom. In the comics, Doom has an adopted daughter Valeria, who is actually the daughter of Reed Richards and Sue Storm.
So far, it’s unclear what would make RDJ’s Doctor Doom tick, but it has been rumoured that he does come from the same universe as Pedro Pascal’s Richards. So it’s possible that he could end up adopting Valeria after the Galactus incident, and she would grow up to be Katherine Langford.
It’s just a pitch for now, but after Langford got her scene left on the cutting room floor, having her play Valeria Von Doom in the MCU would be a neat piece of meta-casting.
RDJ is expected to appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps which releases in theatres July 25, 2025.
]]>No details have been revealed of Lyonne’s character in the film, but she does share this new photo that could give a hint at who she could be playing in the movie. Here’s Lyonne with Ebon Moss-Bachrach who plays Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing:
Natasha Lyonne with Ebon Moss-Bachrach in a newly shared photo!
The two will act alongside each other in Matt Shakman’s ‘THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS’ pic.twitter.com/VCBS23MQGi
— Fantastic Four Updates (@F4Update) September 2, 2024
It’s not clear if this is a set photo or just the two actors hanging out behind-the-scenes, but at least fans know that she’s going to be sharing scenes with Moss-Bachrach, which pretty much could confirm her character.
Ever since she was announced, fans have been speculating that Lyonne could be playing Ben Grimm’s longtime girlfriend in the comics, Alicia Masters. In the lore, Masters was blind, but she was also a gifted sculptor. She was played by Kerry Washington in the Fox’s original Fantastic Four films.
With Lyonne’s overall vibe, she could very much play a blind artist who spouts all kinds of philosophy and quips at Ben Grimm. Some are even guessing that it’s actually her that gets to coin the “It’s Clobberin’ Time” catchphrase—spoken in her signature New York accent.
Then again, this is all just speculation. For all we know, she could be playing HERBIE the robot. But who casts Lyonne is a role where she can’t play someone close to herself?
Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to come out July 25, 2025.

While some think that this would be a practical suit that will be used in the film like the 2005 Fantastic Four movies, this is actually more of a visual reference which would be used by VFX artists to figure out how to properly color the CG model when they add it to the frame.
It would also help the actors that are actually on set to know just what they’re looking at and what will be opposite them in the final product.
Admittedly, there are some fans (myself included) that would have loved a practical Thing suit. I especially love how they pulled it off in the 2000s films. But it was a very complicated process, and actor Michael Chiklis was said to have spent hours just putting the costume on; plus they would have to find ways to cool his body off because the suit doesn’t allow for much ventilation.
Hopefully with CG, we’re going to get a more comic-accurate Thing that will allow for a more subtle performance from Moss-Bachrach. We’re just going to have to wait and see till Marvel gives us our first official look.
Watch out for The Fantastic Four: First Steps when it hits theatres on July 25, 2025.
]]>While fans can be heads-or-tails about the news, Downey himself has explained what Marvel’s approach was when it came to bringing him back. Talking to THR’s Awards Chatter podcast, Downey explains, “[Marvel head Kevin Feige said] how can we not go backwards, how do we not disappoint expectations, how we can continue to beat expectations … Let’s get Victor Von Doom right”
We don’t know what ‘getting Victor Von Doom right’ means for Marvel, but we can only surmise that they’ve come up with an angle that they think isn’t going to disappoint by bringing RDJ in. A lot of fans do think that it’s ironic that they would try not to ‘go backwards’ but still end up bringing back the guy that started this whole MCU in the first place.
For now, everyone is just speculating on how exactly Marvel is going to pull off Robert Doom-ney Jr. The easiest explanation would be that Doom is a variant of Tony Stark from a different timeline, but some are suspecting that this Doom was Tony Stark if he never got to have his experience as a hostage in a cave way back in the first Iron Man. He would have just kept making weapons until he got filthy rich enough to buy a country and become its ruler.
For all the things that can go wrong with the casting, RDJ’s talent alone makes fans hopeful that he’ll be able to pull this off. While I’m in the camp that wanted a new actor, I’m willing to let Marvel cook with this casting in the meantime.
Avengers: Doomsday is expected to come to theaters on May 1, 2026.
]]>While we’ve already been introduced to celestials in this universe, this Galactus apparently has a very unique trait—one that he shares with Doctor Strange’s America Chavez.
According to The Cosmic Circus, Galactus is the only version of himself in the multiverse—meaning he doesn’t have any variants, pretty much like America. The source says, “Galactus is going to be the only individual from—in the entire multiverse. This is the one. There is no Galactus variant. This is him. Period.”
It’s unclear how that story element is going to affect how Galactus is treated within the context of the movie, but I imagine that if there’s one Galactus, that means there isn’t an alternate Galactus that the Four could study and figure out how to defeat. Also, if a Galactus comes to the 616 timeline, that means it’s going to be the same one that the Four have faced before.
Seeing how massive Celestials can be in the MCU, it’s going to be interesting to watch just how the Fantastic Four will be facing this threat. People are currently expecting them to lose their universe in order to bring them into the main timeline, but this just raises the stakes on how important it is for them to defeat the Devourer of Worlds.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.
]]>During an appearance on The Daily Show, Moss-Bachrach shared, “I’m playing Ben Grimm, who becomes The Thing, who is a man encased in rock. So, yeah, I don’t know, I’ve just been looking at rocks.”
https://twitter.com/F4Update/status/1804565103901016556
Joking aside, Moss-Bachrach did add, “I’ve been reading a lot of comics. It’s really nice. They gave me this Marvel Unlimited thing, so I can just go on my iPad, and go to any comic book that Marvel’s ever released.”
Though Moss-Bachrach is mostly expected to provide the voice for The Thing, the officially released poster also confirms that he’s going to be the face of the human Ben Grimm. By the looks of it, he’s also going to be providing the motion capture for the character. Let’s just hope he’s more involved with the process unlike Rocket Raccoon who’s played by two different people (Sean Gunn as the mo-cap stand-in, and Bradley Cooper as the voice).
We don’t know when Marvel is going to give us our next look at Fantastic Four, but everyone is expecting there to be a whole lot of reveals after Deapool and Wolverine hit cinemas.

]]>Five years later, and the movie looks like it’s still not moving forward. According to The Wrap, the film has just gone through another major snag by losing director Yann Demange. We don’t have much details about Demange leaving, but it was said to have been amicable with the studio. Demange had replaced Bassam Tariq who was the original choice to helm the film.
For now, Eric Pearson is currently working on the script. Pearson is also said to be the one behind another upcoming MCU project with Fantastic Four. Previous drafts of Blade came from writers Michael Green, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Starrbury.
We don’t know what could be taking Blade so long to get off the ground, but it’s possible that it could have something to do with the character’s branding. We know that Snipes’ version was all about wearing trench coats and fighting vampires with techno music in the background; but the superhero landscape has definitely changed throughout the decades, and it’s unsure if Blade the way it was established is a right fit for the MCU.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see. So far it does look like Mahershala Ali is still onboard. With Marvel slowing down their releases moving forward, maybe this will allow for Blade to have some more time to develop into a proper story.
Blade has no release date.
