Talking to GamesRadar, Kripke confirms:
“You know, what we realized was we really hadn’t explored the father-son relationship much between Homelander and Soldier Boy… There’s a lot of material there, how soldier boy feels about Homelander, how Homelander feels about his dad, and so we really wanted to dig into that relationship.”
With Homelander essentially messing up being a dad, it’s going to be interesting for him to have a father-figure this time around—and one that isn’t afraid of him at all.
Of course, there’s also the case of Soldier Boy now having beef with Butcher. Kripke continues, “Soldier Boy is really driven to kill Butcher after Butcher betrayed him in season 3… So he’s just an excellent antagonist, to switch sides and basically, you know, to be with the supes.”
With Kessler taking on Butcher’s body to be a supe killer, Soldier Boy could be going up against the wrong person; but some fans do believe that the real Butcher is still somewhere in there, and his final act will probably have him killing himself to get rid of Kessler once and for all.
As for Soldier Boy, it would be easy to see him take side with the supes, but the best thing about him is that he’s good for a laugh, and he doesn’t have the same filter that Homelander has when it comes to acting in public.
The Boys Season 5 is expected to come out around 2026 on Amazon Prime Video.

Apparently, a lot of people have been asking whose butthole everyone got a glimpse of, and showrunner Eric Kripke has confirmed that it’s not Butcher’s ass (nor is it Karl Urban’s). Here’s the post:
Because hundreds of you asked: the butthole from #TheBoys Season 4, Ep 1 is NOT Butcher's (or Karl's). We hired a model (I don't know his name). I chose the pic, based on about 20 different butthole shots. Yep, Hollywood is a glamorous dream factory. @TheBoysTV pic.twitter.com/VGY2NNAPkp

While Kripke didn’t confirm whose the photo belongs to in-universe, fans can be assured that Butcher as a character doesn’t just go around sending people pictures of his spread-open butthole. At best it was just something he picked out online; but it would be funny if he asked Frenchie for a photo and he just enthusiastically agreed.
For now, The Boys Season 4 is starting strong with the first three episodes, and everyone is back on the Vought hype train. With some new heroes (or rather villains) in The Seven and Butcher having a personal stake with the fate of Ryan, we should expect another bloody yet surprisingly emotional season for the ragtag group of superhero killers and the biggest superhero group in their universe.
Also, I wouldn’t say there would be another surprise butthole pic in store, but it’s best to be prepared that could happen again.

]]>Recently, a statement from Kripke (via Inverse) has fans speculating that the show could go further than the initially planned five seasons. This quote was going around:
“No one was more wrong in all of human history about how many seasons their show was going to go than this guy. So I am not going to make that same mistake twice… Guinness World Record of who is dumbest about how long their show should go, there would literally be a picture of me.”
While speculation was already flying everywhere on whether The Boys could be extending its run, Kripke himself has decided to post about it, clarifying that he doesn’t have a solid number of seasons planned, but he does know where the story is going. He posts:
You guys. If you read the article, all I said is that I won't speculate on when the show ends. No comment, basically. Trust me please. I got this. #TheBoys https://t.co/jpkdIGZg8M

We don’t know what the change of plans could have been for Kripke’s end, but I speculate that the success of spinoff Gen V might have something to do with it. Ideally I would think that they would end the arc of the shows together, but it’s very possible for Gen V to keep going even after The Boys has finally closed the book on Butcher and Homelander’s story.
I’m just hoping they finally kill Homelander this season. I mean, he’s a great villain, but every season so far has just been repetitive in a sense that they just keep telling us how they need to kill Homelander.
Watch out for The Boys when it releases on June 13.
]]>Variety reports that Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass) has joined the cast for the second season of Gen V. His character is described as:
“the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
Knowing just how nefarious the Vought machine is behind-the-scenes, it’s very possible that Cipher as a character will only have what’s best for the company in mind. Then again, with so many self-serving characters in the show, I think it would be interesting to find an authority figure that legitimately sympathizes with the students.
It’s likely that Linklater got cast because of his uncanny ability to portray a comforting figure onscreen then just slowly morph to an insane killer.
Though it wasn’t necessary for fans to watch Gen V to get into the next season of The Boys, the show did inform a huge plot point for the season—that being the supe-killing virus that Butcher suddenly has up his sleeve.
We don’t know what the series will do with it, but everyone is already hoping they finally kill Homelander this year. After all, it does look like there’s already a potential replacement for him in the form of his son.
No release date has been announced for the second season of Gen V, but you can catch The Boys Season 4 when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on June 13.

We don’t know exactly what the show is building to yet, but knowing the Vought brand, we know that there are all kinds of dirty secrets when it comes to superheroes and the real dangers they can pose to regular people.
Not only do we get a cynical look at superheroes, but the show definitely likes to put a lens on the big capitalist franchises as well, and makes audiences watch as the heroes try to fight for fame and have to swallow all kinds of terrible behavior just to keep themselves on top—kind of like what happens to all the other supes we meet in The Boys.
With the next season of The Boys still far off, Gen V does offer something around the same vein. The characters are great, and it does offer a neat expansion of the world that builds on what came before and sets up new things that the original show could pay off.
Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally.

Transparency has always been our core value at Vought. That’s why ahead of our Q1 earnings call, we’ve prepped this summary for all shareholders to enjoy. Here’s CEO Ashley Barrett, who has the board’s full confidence and was just given a new seven-month contract!
We don’t really have any major plot points revealed, but I guess it does confirm a lot of things that the last season ended with, including the supposed death of Maeve, the trashing of Starlight, and the continuing support for Homelander.
I guess it’s a plot point that we know that Ashley has risen up the ranks, but unlike Stan Edgar who is unfazed with Homelander’s antics, we know that Ashley is terrified of him, and having her in a seat of power means that Homelander is just getting a more powerful grip over Vought—which he honestly has no idea how to run.
So far, things are getting more chaotic as the Vought circle grows, and with Ryan officially embracing Homelander as his father, we could have the potential to see another uncontrollable, needy super sociopath. Let’s hope Butcher and the Boys will be up to the challenge.
No release date has been announced for the next season of The Boys, but fans are hoping for a return sometime later this year on Amazon Prime Video.
]]>The next season is set to introduce us to a bunch of new characters, and we now have a look at incoming supes Sister Sage and Firecracker. Check them out:
Meet Sage. She’s already a thousand steps ahead of you.
And let's just say Firecracker has a short fuse. pic.twitter.com/Ci3li8j1LJ
— THE BOYS (@TheBoysTV) October 10, 2022
Based on the character descriptions, I have a feeling that Sage will have something to do with Super Speed (like A-Train) or time travel; and Firecracker will have some explosive, fire-based powers—that, or she’s a play on X-Men character Jubilee whose powers look like fireworks.
It’s unclear whether these two will have some significant role in the upcoming season, but seeing that details about them are being kept under wraps, they could end up being major players. Who knows, maybe they could be characters from the upcoming spinoff Gen V, which is said to focus on a group of heroes-in-training under the watchful eye of Vought.
The Boys has been having a phenomenal run so far, and is kind of the perfect series to poke fun at the ever-massive superhero movie franchise. After Jensen Ackles’ run as Soldier Boy in the last season, everyone is wondering what kind of other superhero sociopath showrunner Eric Kripke has under his sleeve. We know that Homelander’s son Ryan is being touted as this would-be villain, but hopefully Butcher and his team aren’t too late to save him from the brink.
No release date has been announced for the next season of The Boys.

Though we don’t have an official synopsis of the plot for the third season, we do have some promo material from ‘Vought International’ giving us an idea of where the world of The Boys is at now.
Admittedly, the last season of The Boys has left a lot of us to unpack. The biggest concern is probably that of Congresswoman Neuman, who is revealed to have psychic powers in where she could literally blow people’s brains out. We don’t know her motive as of now, but the recent ‘report’ has revealed that she will be working with Vought to regulate superheroes.
One villain that’s also been fun is Aya Cash’s Stormfront, and though she was pretty beat up by the end of Season 2, fans have a feeling that she’ll be making a comeback at some point in the future, maybe even later in the season. What we do know is that this season will feature the debut of one of the earlier heroes in the world, Soldier Boy, and he’ll be played by Jensen Ackles (Supernatural).
While shows like Jupiter’s Legacy have come and gone, The Boys still feels fresh, and has brought audiences some pretty great satirical superhero content. Not to mention we have some great characters with Billy Butcher and Superman-gone-wrong Homelander.
No release date has been set for The Boys 3, but you can catch the first two seasons now available on Amazon Prime Video.
