As it turns out, the WGA and SAG AFTRA strike have resulted in the series getting pulled from release.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ironheart, which had completed all its production before the strike, has been pulled from its fall release and currently doesn’t have a release window. We don’t know when the series could come out, but it would probably be dependent on the currently ongoing strikes.

If anything, Marvel has done a complete re-shuffle of their series, with Echo set to come out next year as well as X-Men ’97. Agatha: Coven of Chaos was also set to come out this winter, but now they’ve pushed the series back to next fall, and the show has also had its name changed to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.

The only show that is managing to keep its 2023 release window is Loki Season 2 which is still coming out in October. Besides that, it looks like the only other show that is coming out later this year is the second season of What If…? which we haven’t even got a teaser for yet.

Going back to Ironheart though, we don’t know the exact reason for the delay, but a lot of fans are hoping that it doesn’t suffer the same fate as DC’s Batgirl and gets cancelled completely even after production had finished.

Hopefully Marvel provides an update soon.

Watch out for Loki 2 when it releases on Disney+ on Oct. 6.

Ironheart: First Look at Riri’s Homemade Iron Man Suit https://www.geekfeed.com/first-look-at-ironheart-homemade-iron-man-suit/ Thu, 11 Aug 2022 10:41:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70488 Iron Man may be gone, but Marvel is already gearing up for the introduction of his protégé (in the comics) Riri Williams. The series is currently shooting, and some set photos have revealed a look at Riri’s homemade Iron Man suit.

These photos come from Just Jared:

The suit does look a tad more alien than Tony Stark’s original tech, but I guess that Ironheart will have some kind of access to Wakandan tech, seeing that she’s going to be introduced in the MCU via Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Besides that, the grey suit looks very similar to the comic version—which does have some Gundam flair to it, like the thin waist and ‘heels’. I guess the grey look is also a callback to the very first Iron Man suit that Tony Stark built in a cave (with a box of scraps!).

With Tony Stark not even meeting Riri in the MCU before his death, there’s definitely going to be some change when it comes to Riri’s Ironheart origin. I don’t really expect Robert Downey Jr. to show up in the series, seeing that Stark’s MCU protégé is Spider-Man, but it would be great if RDJ could officially pass off the Iron Man mantle to Riri.

No specific release date has been announced for Ironheart, but it is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in the fall of 2023. In the meantime, you can watch out for Riri’s debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which comes to theaters this Nov. 11.

Leaked Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Promo Art Gives First Look at Ironheart https://www.geekfeed.com/wakanda-forever-promo-art-showcases-ironheart/ Sat, 16 Jul 2022 03:21:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70051 We know that Riri Williams a.k.a. Ironheart will get her own Disney+ show, but the character is said to be making her debut in this year’s upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. We don’t have any official reveal from Marvel yet, but some leaked promo art may give us our first look at the MCU’s Riri.

Check the promo art for Wakanda Forever down here:

Since Riri’s origin is all about her building her own Iron Man suit, it would make sense that she would McGuyver something in the first movie that we see her in. The arc reactor on her chest does look like a heart, and based on what I’m seeing, it’s possible that they gave her some oversized shoulders like Samus from Metroid.

Besides Riri, the art also features other returning characters Shuri, Nakia, and Okoye. With rumors suggesting that Shuri will be the next Panther, I’m curious why she doesn’t have a black suit in this promo art. Is the movie going to make the audience guess who is up next for the BP mantle after T’Challa?

Going back to Riri, I am curious on how the MCU will deal with her taking up the Ironheart mantle, seeing that we barely see her make any kind of connection with Tony Stark. If anything, it’s Spider-Man who has been dubbed as ‘Iron Man Jr.’ by the fans, but with Peter Parker having been forgotten by the world, there’s a lot of room for Riri to be the next Iron Avenger.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on Nov. 11.

Ironheart will Debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever https://www.geekfeed.com/ironheart-will-debut-in-black-panther-wakanda-forever/ Sun, 22 Aug 2021 10:10:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61123 Dominique Thorne had been announced as the MCU’s Riri Williams a.k.a. Ironheart last December, and a lot of fans were wondering when she would make her debut. Rumors had come out that she would be appearing in the Armor Wars series, but it looks like we’ll be meeting this character by next year.

Talking to ComicBook, Marvel head Kevin Feige had announced that Thorne will be making her debut as Riri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Feige says:

“We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first… She started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series.”

With Shuri being touted as one of the smartest characters in the MCU, it would make sense that Riri should have some kind of connection. After all, she also has to prove that she’s worthy of the Iron Man mantle by constructing a suit of armor herself; then again, the MCU is free to take some liberties with the character.

I’m just hoping that the movie doesn’t lean in too hard on Vibranium being able to do whatever it needs to do. It’s a durable metal, it’s malleable, but it can also heal things—the rules are out the window. Part of what made Tony Stark so great is that he was able to make the first Iron Man suit “in a cave! With a bunch of scraps!” . Hopefully Riri can prove she has that same kind of mettle.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to come out on July 8, 2022.

Snowpiercer Writer to Pen Marvel’s Ironheart Series https://www.geekfeed.com/snowpiercer-writer-to-pen-marvels-ironheart-series/ Fri, 30 Apr 2021 11:04:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59283 Though it seems that Marvel has passed the Iron Man torch to Spider-Man, Marvel is working on a Disney+ series focused on Tony Stark’s comic successor—Ironheart a.k.a. Riri Williams. The show has already cast Dominique Thorne in the lead role, and now we have news on the show’s writer.

As per Variety, Marvel’s Ironheart has tapped Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer, Amazing Stories) as head writer of the series. We don’t have any more details besides that, but we’re sure to get them as development trudges along. Besides her TV credits, Hodge has also published two books, and plays titled Chasing Mehserle and Mirrors in Every Corner. She is also a founding member of the hip hop collective knows as The Getback.

In the comics, Riri Williams is an MIT student who was able to reverse-engineer the Iron Man armor and make a suit of her own. In the comics, she had actually interacted with Tony Stark who encouraged her to pursue superheroing, but with Stark dead in the MCU, Riri’s origin is primed for a rewrite.

With The Falcon and The Winter Soldier being open about racial issues and inequality, it’s going to be interesting to see Riri claim the Ironheart mantle without undergoing some significant struggle. It would be great if we could actually get to watch Tony’s protégé Spider-Man interact with Riri, but with Holland being such a high-profile actor now, I wouldn’t be surprised if he couldn’t find the time to make an appearance.

No release date has been set for Ironheart, but the next Marvel show, Loki, premieres on Disney+ on June 11.
