Scarlet Witch was introduced as a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron before she made the switch to hero, then back to villain in Doctor Strange 2, and while a lot of fans have been debating her fate in Multiverse of Madness, Marvel has decided to put the record straight via their official timeline book—sort of.

The MCU: An Official Timeline book is meant to explain the official canon of the MCU, laying rest to all kinds of fan arguments, and on the passage where it talks about Wanda ending herself, the book reads (via @ScarletWitchupd):

“Fall 2024 | 838-Wanda gathers the boys and assures the heartbroken Scarlet Witch they’ll be loved. [616-Wanda] destroys Wundagore—and collapses it upon herself—ending two great threats to all of the Multiverse.”

While some fans think this is the MCU officially confirming that Wanda is dead, other insiders believe that is not the case, and the wording is very specifically made to keep fans guessing still. @CanWeGetToast posted:

The way the multiverse is being set-up, it’s very likely that we can get another powerful Scarlet Witch variant to show up and do wreak all kinds of chaos magic; but it’s possible the fans would want a better fate for Wanda-616 who we’ve been following since Age of Ultron.

This is just speculation on my part, but I think the redemption of Wanda will have something to do with Vision, who is getting his own Disney+ spinoff show soon with Vision Quest.

For now, you can check Wanda out in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now streaming on Disney+.

Hayley Atwell Admits to Being ‘Frustrated’ with Cameo in Doctor Strange 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/atwell-frustrated-with-cameo-in-doctor-strange-2/ Mon, 17 Jul 2023 10:51:54 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77843 It was no mystery that fans thought the Illuminati was underused in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and apparently one star agrees with them—Hayley Atwell a.k.a. Captain Peggy Carter.

Talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Variety), Atwell expresses how she thought her character was underused in the Doctor Strange sequel. She says, “I’m like, ‘That wasn’t my choice!’… When she was like, ‘I could do this all day’ and then followed by she’s immediately cut in half by a frisbee. And the audience being like, ‘She can’t do it all day. Apparently you can’t, so, egg on your face.’ That doesn’t really serve Peggy very well.”

For context, Atwell made a cameo as an alternate version of Captain America called Captain Carter who served as a member of a council that oversees the multiverse called the Illuminati. When the Scarlet Witch attacks the Illuminati HQ, she makes quick work of the members, cutting Captain Carter in half with her shield.

if it’s any consolation, none of the Illuminati characters were given a proper time to shine since they were mostly just there to be cameos. If one Illuminati member got the spotlight, it was definitely Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, who even had a mindscape battle with Wanda—which he still ultimately lost.

Though Captain Carter may have only had minutes of screentime in MoM, her full fleshed out alternate timeline is explained in the animated Marvel’s What If…? on Disney+. It’s unclear if that’s the same Carter that got killed in the film, but there is definitely room for her to come back in the future.

We don’t know if we’ll see Captain Carter again in the future, but you can check out her full story in Marvel’s What If…? now streaming on Disney+.
