Just in, a new teaser has been dropped, and it has Rick throwing some auditions for a character that the show is constantly shitting on—and it’s not Morty.

Check this out:

Though this can be chalked off as another bit where Rick just hates Jerry, a meta lens would read it as a joke about the recasting of original Rick and Morty voice actor Justin Roiland with Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden.

It’s ironic that Rick (voiced by Cardoni) is looking for someone to replace Jerry, since Rick’s voice actor was replaced; and Jerry is still pretty much voiced by his original voice actor Chris Parnell. In fact, the only original voice actors that are still attached to the show are Parnell, Spencer Grammer (Summer), and Sarah Chalke (Beth).

Though it was a huge surprise to fans that the show would go on without Roiland, a lot of reports have come out that the series has actually been functioning very well without him, and he’s been out of the writers’ room for a while, just providing the voices of Rick and Morty. After the whole scandal though, the series was finally able to cut the chord with him, and they found an excuse to find new voices to do the series leads.

It’s kind of funny how they decided to get two different people to voice Rick and Morty this time, so if one of them got cancelled (or died), they wouldn’t lose two characters.

No release date has been set for Rick and Morty Season 8, but hopefully it comes out early 2025.

Live-Action One Punch Man Movie Moves Forward with Justin Lin and Dan Harmon https://www.geekfeed.com/live-action-one-punch-man-movie-moves-forward/ Wed, 17 Apr 2024 09:45:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81962 The live-action anime adaptations have been getting a lot of wins recently with the success of One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and another property is moving forward with One Punch Man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Lin (Fast and Furious, Star Trek: Beyond), is set to helm the upcoming adaptation of the hit manga. What’s more, Rick and Morty writers Dan Harmon and Heather Anne Campbell are said to be currently rewriting the script.

The last big udpate we got for this movie was back in 2020 when it was first announced. By that time the script was said to come from Venom screenwriters Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.

For context, One Punch Man by authors Yusuke Murata and ONE tells the story of Saitama, a regular person who decided to become a ‘hero for fun.’ The main schtick of it is, Saitama becomes so powerful that he manages to defeat any kind of opponent with literally one punch. The real arc of the character comes with Saitama’s existential crisis and boredom that follows when he realizes he can’t find anyone that would give him a challenge.

We don’t know what kind of direction the live-action One Punch Man is going to go, but Harmon himself has been known to satirize the comic book genre with properties like Rick and Morty and Community. Even Rick and Morty have some jabs at anime from time to time.

What fans do know about Harmon is that he is very particular when it comes to proper character arcs, and him and Campbell may be the right people to try and flesh out Saitama’s story for the big screen.

No release date has been set for the live-action One Punch Man movie.

Six Seasons and a Movie!: Dan Harmon Updates on Community Movie Script https://www.geekfeed.com/harmon-updates-on-community-movie-script/ Tue, 27 Feb 2024 09:08:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81229 It’s been almost ten years since the cult show Community ended, but everyone is still waiting for the movie to finally come out. Donald Glover had recently said that the script for the film was already done, but show creator Dan Harmon himself has a more accurate update on the status of the film.

Talking to Variety, Harmon confirms that Glover was ‘almost’ correct in that the script was ‘almost’ finished. He says:

“I can confirm Donald Glover’s report that I told him the script was done, but I will also say Donald’s sources are so unreliable because the script is always ‘almost done,’… What can I tell you about it — it’s set on the campus of Greendale Community College. I’m super excited about it, and we’re almost done.”

We still have no idea what the movie will be about, but at least we can confirm that we are going to be headed back to Greendale, which the Greendale Seven will probably have to save again one way or another.

The movie is set to bring back all original main cast members which include Joel McHale (Jeff), Gillian Jacobs (Britta), Alison Brie (Annie), Danny Pudi (Abed), Donald Glover (Troy), Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley), Jim Rash (Dean Pelton), and Ken Jeong (Ben Chang). There has also been curiosity on whether Chevy Chase (Pierce) will make a cameo, but it’s likely he won’t be appearing especially with all the drama that came out while he was on the show.

“I’ve been having kind of a nervous breakdown the last couple of months just by working on it, and that’s a good thing because I’m having all kinds of flashbacks to 2009,” says Harmon about working on the film, “It’s gonna be awesome… I’m like, ‘Why am I crying about these characters?’”

No release date has been set for the Community movie, but you can check out the entire series (sans one D&D episode) now streaming on Netflix.

Rick and Morty: Why They Decided to Replace Justin Roiland with Two Actors https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-why-they-replace-justin-roiland/ Wed, 18 Oct 2023 12:32:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79248 Besides being a co-creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland had also provided the voices of the main characters of the show—which is why it was such a huge deal when he was fired from the show and Adult Swim decided to keep making it without him.

Ultimately the series had found replacements for Roiland, but some are wondering why the showrunners decided to cast two different people to voice characters that were originally performed by one person.

Talking to THR, showrunner Scott Marder and co-creator Dan Harmon had explained that they cast two people because they saw the toll that the show was taking on Roiland as he was playing multiple characters. Marder explained:

“For sheer quality of life, it’d be easier for the amount of work required for both characters. We watched it over the years wear down on Roiland’s voice. It felt unfair to do that to someone.”

The series ended up with two relatively unknown actors to play the parts of Rick and Morty with Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden respectively. The premiere even had a third person voice the part of Mr. Poopybutthole, who was also originally voiced by Roiland as well.

Marder had apparently auditioned thousands of people for the roles, which they whittled down to a hundred until they finally got to Cardoni and Belden. While a lot of people still think Cardoni’s Rick has some differences from how Roiland performs the voice, Belden has been praised for his take on Morty which a lot of people can’t tell is not Roiland.

Catch new episodes of Rick and Morty when they come out on Adult Swim and Max every Sunday night.

Mr. Poopybutthole Returns in Cold Open for Rick and Morty 7 https://www.geekfeed.com/mr-poopybutthole-returns-in-rick-and-morty-7/ Sat, 14 Oct 2023 09:53:04 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79168 Fans know that Adult Swim had to replace Rick and Morty after they fired Justin Roiland, but there is a question of the other characters that he voices besides the titular pair.

As it turns out, the cold open answers that question with the return of Mr. Poopybutthole, who has apparently been living with the Smith family. Watch this:

The running gag with Mr. Poopybutthole is that though he seems like such a ridiculous cartoon character, he always finds himself in ridiculously serious predicaments. After being paralyzed and shot by Beth in the episode we first meet him, the show has had him teach kids at college, have a family of his own, and now be left by that family—resulting in him ending up with the Smiths.

We don’t exactly know if MPB will have a significant arc for the upcoming season, but his appearance does confirm the suspicions that fans have on how they will treat the other characters that were being voiced by Roiland.

If anything, the fans think that the replacement voices have been pretty great, and besides Rick, they got a pretty spot-on Morty impression. I guess to further avoid another scandal like Roiland, they also decided to just have two different people voice the two characters; which should be helpful if another one of them gets ‘cancelled.’

Hopefully we get the reveal of the replacements soon.

Watch out for Season 7 of Rick and Morty which premieres on Oct. 15.

Dan Harmon Breaks Silence on the Firing of Rick and Morty Co-Creator Justin Roiland https://www.geekfeed.com/dan-harmon-breaks-silence-on-justin-roiland/ Wed, 04 Oct 2023 08:01:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78984 Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland had been credited as the co-creators of Rick and Morty, but after Adult Swim cut ties with Roiland, everyone was wondering what Harmon had to say about his exit.

After months of silence, Harmon has finally opened up about Roiland’s firing, and he’s revealed that he actually hasn’t talked to Roiland since 2019. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon shares that a rift had started forming between the two around the second season of the show when Harmon brought in new writers from his other series Community—resulting in Roiland thinking that the show was being taken away from him.

Harmon shares:

“If anything, what I wanted was for Justin and I both to be able to be increasingly lazy and not show up for work. That was the dream… We’d be these rich idea men. He could roll around and go, like, ‘What if a genie had a butt instead of a dick?’ And I could be like, ‘Yeah, and plus, we’re going to make people cry about it, and that’s going to make them freak out. It’s a story about a genie butt dick, but then we’d win an Emmy, and it’d be more ironic than ever.’ And then I’d come to find out later that it was like, ‘Oh, Harmon brought in his Harmon writers,’ and, man, that is not how I saw it.”

It got so bad that Roiland apparently stopped coming into the studio, and a mediator got brought in when the series was greenlit for 70 more episodes.

When asked to comment about the reasons Roiland was fired—specifically accusations of sexual harassment and assault—Harmon had this to say:

“The easiest thing for me to say about Justin has been nothing. Easy because he isolated so well and easy because I’m nobody’s first choice as a judge of anything or anyone. This is where I’d love to change the subject to myself, to what a piece of crap I’ve been my whole public life… I would feel so safe and comfortable making this about me, but that trick is worthless here and dangerous to others. It’s other people’s safety and comfort that got damaged while I obsessed over a cartoon’s quality. Trust has now been violated between countless people and a show designed to please them. I’m frustrated, ashamed and heartbroken that a lot of hard work, joy and passion can be leveraged to exploit and harm strangers.”

For now, the series is said to have cast two different people to provide the voice for Rick and Morty, and their identities have been kept secret until the premiere of the first episode. We don’t know exactly where Roiland stands now, but it would be great if we could also get his side of this story so we can get a better picture of exactly what went down.

Rick and Morty 7 premieres on Adult Swim on Oct. 15.

Rick and Morty: New Voices Revealed in Trailer for Season 7 https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-new-voices-revealed-in-trailer/ Wed, 27 Sep 2023 09:19:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78906 It’s been months since Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland was removed from the show, and though we have been getting previews over the past few months, we have yet to get a sample of the new voices of the titular pair.

Now Adult Swim has dropped the trailer, and we have our replacements for Roiland, and they sound pretty solid. Watch this:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show has actually cast two new voice actors for the roles of Rick and Morty—as compared to having only one actor voice both. The studio is actually going to keep the identity of the voice actors under wraps until the premiere as well. An Adult Swim insider explained:

“We want the show to speak for itself… We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans.”

As far as fan reactions go, they say that they got pretty good sound-alikes for both Rick and Morty. Though Morty sounds almost identical (he’s a bit more high-pitched than Roiland’s original version), Rick’s voice really starts to sound different when he starts to scream.

It’s probably going to take an adjustment period for the fans, but so far everyone is onboard with he recasting and nobody has been clamoring to bring Roiland back.

Hopefully Season 7 manages to keep that signature Rick and Morty brand of adventures without Roiland onboard. Rick and Morty Season 7 premieres on Oct. 15 on Adult Swim and Max.

Justin Roiland’s ‘Created by’ Credit Removed from New Opening of Rick and Morty 7 https://www.geekfeed.com/roiland-credit-removed-from-rick-and-morty-7/ Thu, 21 Sep 2023 09:15:25 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78829 A lot of Rick and Morty fans have been nervous about the return of the show ever since co-creator Justin Roiland was kicked out, but the series moving forward and it’s set to come back this October.

Just in, Adult Swim has dropped the new opening sequence for the show, and not only have they removed Roiland’s name from the credits—but also his co-creator Dan Harmon. Watch this:

https://youtu.be/YVWSC7e2kTE

No doubt, Harmon is still working on the series, but it would be weird seeing his name along with the ‘created by’ credit when a lot of fans know that Justin Roiland helped create the series.

Everyone is still waiting to see what the show is going to do about Roiland’s replacement. Though some think they’ll just find a person who can do a good Rick and Morty impression, Roiland’s other show Solar Opposites had decided to recast the part of Korvo with Dan Stevens—who sounded nothing like Roiland, and even had a British accent.

If anything, Roiland does only have a handful of voices that he can do; but that’s why his voice has somewhat become iconic when it comes to modern animation. You can immediately tell it’s Roiland whenever your hear his signature shrieky voice and stuttering—whether he’s playing Lemongrab in Adventure Time or Blendin Blandin in Gravity Falls.

Hopefully we can get a voice reveal before the premiere, but I have a feeling the series is going lean in on the meta humor and have the whole episode about why Rick and Morty will have different voices.

Rick and Morty Season 7 premieres on Adult Swim and Max on Oct. 15.

Rick and Morty 7 Promo Still Won’t Reveal New Rick and Morty Voices https://www.geekfeed.com/promo-still-wont-reveal-new-rick-and-morty-voices/ Tue, 12 Sep 2023 08:26:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78690 The next season of Rick and Morty is set to premiere next month, and a lot of people have been waiting for their first look at the show. Now Adult Swim has dropped a new promo for Season 7 and it features Beth and Summer teasing all kinds of upcoming hijinks.

Check this out:

Of course, the big elephant in the room is how the show is going to be replacing co-creator Justin Roiland. Ever since Roiland got dropped by Adult Swim, fans have been wondering who would be taking over for the voice role for Rick and Morty since Roiland performed both. We know that Solar Opposites decided to cast a completely different voice for Roiland’s character, but it’s still unclear how Rick and Morty going to solve that problem.

Hopefully by the time the full trailer drops for season 7, we’ll finally have an answer. With the meta-nature of the show, the showrunners will have to address the real-world drama behind the series, and with Roiland playing the main characters, audiences have been itching to figure out just how Rick and Morty is going to handle the loss of its principal star. Will they go the direction of Solar Opposites and just hope that everyone won’t mind? Or will they cast someone who can do a perfect impression of Roiland—several of which are all over the internet.

Watch out for Season 7 of Rick and Morty when it returns on Adult Swim on Oct. 15.

Rick and Morty 7 Gets October Premiere Date https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-7-gets-october-premiere-date/ Tue, 29 Aug 2023 05:44:03 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78403 Ever since co-creator Justin Roiland was kicked out of Rick and Morty, a lot of fans have been wondering about the fate of the show. Luckily, the series will be moving forward, and we just got a release date for the next season this coming October.

Here’s the announcement with a Bad Boys-inspired poster featuring Rick, Morty, and Summer:

Though Rick and Morty tends to have an episodic structure, there is one overarching story that now has the show’s main Rick going after another ‘Rick Prime’—a Rick that was said to have killed C-137’s family. What’s more, Rick Prime is also the original Rick of the show’s main Morty.

We’ve yet to know exactly what that Rick’s deal is, but it does provide us with a new source of drama for the show. We don’t even know what’s happened to ‘Evil Morty’ ever since he jumped into that yellow portal in the second-to-the-last season.

For now, fans are just waiting for a trailer. It’s not clear what direction the show will go for recasting Roiland, seeing that he was the voice of the original duo (as well as several other characters). Solar Opposites had replaced Roiland with someone who sounded completely different; but some think that Rick and Morty will just settle with finding a new voice actor for both the titular characters.

You think they’ll consider using an AI voice-changer?

Rick and Morty Season 7 premieres on Adult Swim on Oct. 15.

Rick and Morty Producer Talks Losing Co-Creator Justin Roiland https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-producer-on-justin-roiland/ Mon, 14 Aug 2023 13:55:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78228 Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty was a cultural phenomenon, but after the series co-creator Justin Roiland was removed from the series, a lot of fans were wondering if the show could continue without him. As it turns out, the rest of the crew is pretty confident they can move forward sans Roiland.

Talking to The Los Angeles Times, series executive producer Steve Levy said, “We had a rug pulled from underneath us… The only people we could lean on were each other. It would have been very easy to just say, ‘I’m done and I don’t want to do anything with this show anymore.’ But our crew said, ‘No, we’re not going to let one person drag down all of our hard work.'”

For context, Adult Swim had cut ties with Roiland back in January because of a sexual assault case, and though the case was dropped eventually, the ties had been severed, and it had already been announced that the show would be moving forward without Roiland.

Despite Roiland voicing the two principal characters of Rick and Morty, it has been said that the series will be using someone else to do the same impression of the characters. Solar Opposites, another show starring Roiland, had decided to just completely change the voice and even gave Roiland’s character a British accent.

“This show is created by this team – this family of incredibly hardworking people, and we are going to push through and show the world that we aren’t going to miss a beat,” Levy continued, “The work that we’re doing across the board has only gotten better. When the new season comes out, we’ll focus on how amazing it all turned out.”

No release date has been set for the next season of Rick and Morty yet, but the show is expected to come back later this year on Adult Swim.

Watch First Look at Rick and Morty: The Anime https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-first-look-at-rick-and-morty-the-anime/ Tue, 25 Jul 2023 16:12:20 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77930 The weekend came with a lot of great reveals, and while we don’t have a release date for the next season of Rick and Morty yet, we do have a first look at an anime spinoff based on the show.

Watch this:

We don’t have a story for the anime yet, but if you watch Rick and Morty, there’s a good chance we’re going to get the same sci-fi shenanigans with just an anime twist. While it does look like Rick, Morty, and the rest of the Smith family will be appearing in the show, it does seem that the series is also going to be introducing some new characters who are specific to the anime.

This isn’t the first time the series has spun-off into anime either. A few years back, we also got the short Rick and Morty vs. Genocider which probably gives us a good idea of what to expect from the show.

Despite the anime branding, the show does have a very unique look compared to other mainstream anime, and it does incorporate some character designs from the original series. With the original show having made some parodies of anime, it’s going to be interesting to see just how the anime is going to tell its story. Is it going for the same level of meta? Or will it rely solely on sci-fi/visual adventures?

No release date has been set for Rick and Morty: The Anime, but we should expect the show to premiere on Adult Swim sometime later this year.

Rick and Morty Justin Roiland’s Assault Case Dropped https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-roiland-assault-case-dropped/ Tue, 28 Mar 2023 15:09:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76020 Earlier this year, Rick and Morty fans were distraught when it was announced that Adult Swim was cutting ties with Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. The whole issue stemmed from Roiland being sued for domestic abuse and grooming, but it looks like he’s coming off free from one of these problems.

As confirmed by Roiland online, the domestic case against him has been dismissed. He posts:

Despite the charges being dropped on Roiland, the online community is still questioning him about the DMs that he allegedly sent to underage women. If anything, fans thought that those were the real reason why Adult Swim dropped him, alongside the domestic abuse case.

It’s also worth noting that Adult Swim hasn’t made any kind of statement about Roiland as well. You’d think that they would want him back on the show after everything was cleared up, but I guess not everyone has James Gunn’s luck. As it stands, it seems that the network is still looking for someone to replace Roiland as the titular Rick and Morty. If anything, I think Solar Opposites is still fine with Roiland providing his voice for one of the lead characters; there’s also all the different games that Roiland has been working on like the recent High on Life where he voices a bunch of alien guns.

We don’t have a premiere date for the next season of Rick and Morty yet, but hopefully the show comes back later in the year.

Adult Swim Cuts Ties with Rick and Morty Co-Creator Justin Roiland https://www.geekfeed.com/adult-swim-cuts-ties-with-justin-roiland/ Thu, 26 Jan 2023 15:31:22 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=73088 Rick and Morty fans have been slowly getting concerned with the past weeks reporting that co-creator Justin Roiland had been sued for domestic abuse and possible grooming, and today’s news just seems to be the final nail in the coffin of Roiland’s career.

As per an official announcement, Adult Swim has officially cut ties with Roiland. Here’s the post:

With Roiland being the voice of both titular characters Rick and Morty, the post confirming that the show will continue means that the part has to be recast. Even if they did manage to find someone who could do Roiland’s voices, his unique sense of humor, which was integral to the tone of the show, will ultimately be lost with his departure.

As of now, co-creator Dan Harmon is expected to stay on Rick and Morty as sole showrunner, but the show still has a crew which includes a lot of great artists and writers who all help bring Rick and Morty to life.

Who knows, James Gunn was able to come back to Marvel Studios after he was initially fired, so maybe there’s room for Roiland to return after this fiasco, but based on the tweets that have been coming out, it’s going to be a major uphill battle.

I wonder why Hulu hasn’t dropped him from Solar Opposites yet.

For now, Rick and Morty is expected to run until Season 10. We don’t have a release date yet, but with Roiland gone, we should expect some kind of delay with the series.

Watch the Crazy Cold Opening for Rick and Morty 6 Part 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-crazy-opening-for-rick-and-morty-6-part-2/ Fri, 18 Nov 2022 09:34:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72084 Like Better Call Saul before it, Rick and Morty Season 6 had decided to take a mid-season break. Now the show is set to come back this Sunday, and we have a new cold open that could be one of the most unique yet.

Watch the cold opening for Rick and Morty’s season 6 return here:

The cold open starts out like your standard series recap, but Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have decided to turn it into a plot point and have Rick and Morty trapped by some kind of narrative alien, and they go so far as to have them zip through the opening credits.

It’s a pretty fun way to get back into the show. If you’ve been following the series, you’ll know that Rick and Morty loves to play with narrative devices and incorporates them into the main story all the time. We always have the random snippet episodes like Interdimensional Cable and Morty’s Mind Blowers, and we also had several flashbacks with the parasites in Total Rickall.

We haven’t had that episode for the season yet, but with this thing that can alter narratives, I think the second part of Season Six will be starting with the snippet episode this time.

Hopefully the second part of the season will tackle the new villain that’s been introduced—the Rick that murdered Rick C-137’s family. So far his motivation is still a mystery, but we do know that he’s smarter than out main Rick. What could he be up to?

Rick and Morty 6 returns to HBO Max on Nov. 20.

Rick and Morty 6 Returns with New Promo https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-6-returns-with-new-promo/ Tue, 08 Nov 2022 15:20:17 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71932 We’ve had to live with uneven releases of Rick and Morty over the years, but now adult swim is ready to push forward with one of the most celebrated sci-fi properties later this month.

Just in, we have a new announcement trailer for the return of Rick and Morty Season 6. Watch this:

With the first half of the season dealing with Rick losing his portal gun, the last episode has him fixing it, meaning that he and Morty can once again travel dimensions—and maybe this time, find the Rick that killed Rick Prime’s family—the very same Rick that’s supposed to be the grandfather of Morty Prime.

Though the series has been known for its episodic nature, I was kind of interested to see where the story would go with the concept that Rick has lost his portal gun. If anything, the writers were still able to keep things interesting, and we were able to get some very high-concept sci-fi episodes like Rick: A Mort Well Lived and Night Family.

Admittedly there are some fans online who have said that the show is apparently ‘dead’, and while not every episode has been perfect, the series has still been able to deliver some very interesting episodes that are very much in the vein of what makes Rick and Morty a unique show. Hopefully Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have some more interesting explorations down the line.

Rick and Morty returns to HBO Max on Nov. 20.

Dan Harmon on Returning Cast Members for Community Movie https://www.geekfeed.com/dan-harmon-on-cast-members-for-community-movie/ Tue, 11 Oct 2022 04:43:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=71507 Ever since the show ended back in 2015, fans had been demanding a Community movie, with the mantra #SixSeasonsAndAMovie frequently coming out online. Now Peacock is moving forward with the film, and fans are wondering, “Who are they bringing back?”

While the series is expected to bring back the regulars who stayed until the end like Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, and Danny Pudi, there is a question of whether the series will bring back actors Donald Glover, Yvette-Nicole Brown, and Chevy Chase, who were all central cast members who left before the series ended.

During a panel at the New York Comic-Con (via Variety), Dan Harmon explained that bringing back Donald Glover was a necessity, but the same can’t be said for Chevy Chase. Harmon explains:

“I think that Donald is coming, based on word of mouth, but it’s just the deal isn’t official or wasn’t official. It would be difficult to really commit to doing this thing without Donald… So I believe he is coming back. I think if there’s names missing from a list, it’s because the names that are on the list, their deals are agreed upon enough that it’s OK to say they are on the list, and anybody that’s not on a list, it’s just not the case yet. So there is nothing official about anybody being out”

As for Chase’s inclusion, Harmon said, “I don’t even know if it’s legal for him to come back… That may be out of my hands. There may something I sign for with an insurance company.”

Though Chase did have his infamous falling out with the show, I am actually kind of hoping that he makes a small appearance just to start mending fences. Pearce Hawthorne could be dead in canon, but he was such a central part of the series that they have to make some kind of mention about him in the film.

No release date has been set for the Community film, but it’s set to release on Peacock sometime in 2024.

Rick and Morty 6: Get Inside the Premiere Episode https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-6-get-inside-the-premiere-episode/ Wed, 07 Sep 2022 16:10:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70897 Evil Morty may have escaped to an alternate reality while destroying the Citadel of Ricks, but the Season Six premiere may have presented us with the show’s new villain with ‘Rick Prime’.

Just in, Adult Swim has given us an inside look at the making of the Season 6 premiere episode, and how it kind of forces Rick, Morty, and somehow Jerry to relive their pasts and revisit their original realities. Check out the video here:

Writer Albro Lundy, co-creator Dan Harmon, director Jacob Hair and showrunner Scott Marder dig into the season 6 premiere and discuss Morty’s return to the Cronenberged dimension, Rick’s grand mission, and the episode’s shocking reveal.

While the show has pretty much been keeping the dynamic the same between the Smith Family, it seems that the last season really did change the status quo, what with Rick losing his ability to portal anywhere and being faced once again with the elusive version of himself that killed his family.

What are Rick Prime’s motivations, and why did he choose Rick C-137 specifically for his scheme?

Even if the show is going into more serialized territory this time around, I think there’s still a lot of room for the writers to play around with the more conceptual episodes. We’ve done a lot of character work with the Smith family over the years, but I love how the show has been expanding roles for side characters like Rick’s car and Morty’s crush Jessica.

Catch the sixth season of Rick and Morty now streaming on HBO Max with new episodes every Sunday.

Community Movie Gets Update from Dan Harmon https://www.geekfeed.com/community-movie-gets-update-from-dan-harmon/ Tue, 23 Aug 2022 12:38:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70692 #SixSeasonsAndAMovie has been the rallying cry of Community fans since the show ended back in 2015, and we’ve been getting vague updates over the past few years. What’s great is, show creator Dan Harmon has finally given us some solid updates on the status of the movie and says it could only be a matter of time when it’s finally made.

In an interview with The Wrap, Harmon has confirmed that a story already exists for the Community film. He explains:

There’s a story—who knows if we’ll end up sticking to it, but it was something we had to compile in order to take it out and court various venues. And now negotiations happen.”

As far as the release, Harmon didn’t give out anything specific, but he does say that, “…as far as the industry is concerned, this is a matter of when and not if, for sure.”

Though the series never ended up as huge as Rick and Morty, Community remains to be a cult favorite, and was said to have a lot of renewed interest ever since it premiered on Netflix. Though it does start out as a typical sitcom, the series is chockfull of ‘Harmon-isms’ that have become prevalent in his other work from ridiculous parody episodes to clip shows that were the early versions of Rick and Morty’s Interdimensional Cable episodes.

We don’t know what a movie could be about, but I’m hoping we get a lot of elements that made the original series great. Could it be a huge parody film about movies based on TV series? Is there going to be a clip show? Could the Russo Brothers come back to direct?

If you ask me, I’m just hoping they bring back all the original cast members like Donald Glover and Chevy Chase. Fans have been aching for a Troy and Abed reunion and it’s high time we got one.

No release date has been set for the Community movie.

New Trailer for Rick and Morty 6 is Absolutely Bonkers https://www.geekfeed.com/rick-and-morty-6-trailer-is-absolutely-bonkers/ Mon, 15 Aug 2022 06:31:18 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=70548 September will see the return of Rick and Morty, and we finally have a new trailer to hype up the release. Watch Rick, Morty, and the rest of the Smith family jump through some outrageous sci-fi hoops with some sharp meta-humor.

Check out the Rick and Morty season 6 trailer down here:

We don’t have an official synopsis for the sixth season, but Rick and Morty has usually just been moderately serialized. A lot of the episodes don’t really have any connection to one another—save for a few callbacks here and there. If there was an overarching story, I guess the closest thing would be Evil Morty and his takedown of the Citadel of Ricks.

If anything, the season does look to have some callbacks to some older episodes. Space Beth does make a return (possibly in a more involved episode), and we also have Rick and Morty plugged into a console that looks pretty much the same as the Roy game from Blips and Chitz.

Besides that, we have some more crazy, never-before-seen moments in the trailer that all lines up with the show’s signature brand of humor. I am curious about the Jerry wearing a sweater and glasses. My guess is he’s an alternate, successful version of Jerry that exists in a reality where Rick isn’t a ‘god’. With Evil Morty destroying all those realities in the last season’s finale, the show really is opening up to more opportunities to test Rick’s ego.

Rick and Morty Season 6 premieres on Adult Swim and HBO Max on Sept. 04.
