Christian Bale – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Tue, 22 Oct 2024 09:59:14 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Christian Bale – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Luca Guadagnino set to Direct Remake of American Psycho https://www.geekfeed.com/luca-guadagnino-remake-of-american-psycho/ Tue, 22 Oct 2024 09:59:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84866 May Harron’s American Psycho starring Christian Bale remains to be a cult classic, and with the movie turning 25 next year, news has it that a modern remake is in the works.

According to Deadline, Luca Guadagnino (Challengers, Call Me By Your Name) is said to be in final negotiations to do another stab an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho book. Besides Guadagnino directing, Scott Z. Burns is said to be providing the screenplay.

Lionsgate’s group chair Adam Fogelson had this to say about the remake:

“We are thrilled to add another elite filmmaker to our upcoming slate… Luca is a brilliant artist, and the perfect visionary to create a whole new interpretation of this potent and classic IP.”

We have no official details about the movie yet, but fancasts have already been going out online for who should be the next Patrick Bateman. Names like Austin Butler and Timothee Chalamet have been thrown around, but probably the biggest fan-favorite for the part is toxic boyfriend of the year, Jacob Elordi—who became the mascot of psychotic boyfriends thanks to his role as Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria.

I honestly don’t know how Guadagnino’s American Psycho could be different from the original, but a lot of fans think he’s definitely a great pick and can’t wait to see what kind of movie he’s going to deliver. The book has been said to be more violent, but maybe they could push the timeline forward if they want to say something more relevant to the times. The original did seem like a representation of the coked-up Wall Street that fuelled the 80s.

No release date has been announced for the American Psycho remake.

Robert Pattinson Trades His Batwings for a Heron’s in English Dub Trailer for Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron https://www.geekfeed.com/pattinson-in-the-boy-and-the-heron-english-dub/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 11:52:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79479 Hayao Miyazaki may have repeatedly said he was quitting movies, but here he is again with another highly anticipated animated film from Studio Ghibli. The Boy and the Heron is set to release in theaters this December, and we have a new trailer showcasing the star-studded voice cast which includes Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, and Mark Hamill.

Watch this:

Other voices in the English cast list also include Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, and Karen Fukuhara.

If you’ve watched Miyazaki movies before, you’ll notice that a lot of his signature elements are also in The Boy and the Heron from the fantastic visuals to all kinds of crazy creatures.

We don’t know exactly what the story of the film is yet, but it definitely looks like the titular boy in the film comes from a Japan that is undergoing the Second World War (the uniform looks pretty familiar); plus there is a lot of imagery with flames surrounding him which could allude to the bombs being dropped.

With Oppenheimer coming out last July, a lot of critics have said that the film kind of lacks the point-of-view from the actual victims of the bomb. Maybe The Boy and the Heron could be Miyazaki’s remedy to that; but we’ll just have to wait and see until the movie comes out.

Mahito, a young 12-year-old boy, struggles to settle in a new town after his mother’s death. However, when a talking heron informs Mahito that his mother is still alive, he enters an abandoned tower in search of her, which takes him to another world.

The Boy and the Heron comes to theaters Dec. 8.

Thor 4: Original Gorr Design Looked Too Much Like Voldemort https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-4-gorr-design-looked-too-much-like-voldemort/ Mon, 04 Jul 2022 04:09:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=69018 Christian Bale may look pretty freaky in Thor: Love and Thunder, but anyone whose read the comics knows that the character looks pretty different. When it comes to the change, Waititi explains that it had to do something with Gorr resembling a certain Dark Wizard.

Talking to IGN, Waititi reveals that they had to change Gorr’s look because he looked too much like Voldemort from the Harry Potter movies. He says: “His face in the comics, unfortunately does kind of resemble Voldemort. So I was like, people are just automatically going to make that connection. So we decided to depart from that design and sort of like, keep elements of the tone, and the fact that he had the sword—really it was about his story. That was the most important things for us.”

In the comics, Gorr had no nose and tentacles on the back of his head—kind of like a twi’lek from Star Wars. One thing was that he almost, always looked nude. With Christian Bale’s penchant for transforming his body, it was kind of a shame that they decided to cover up his entire body, but at least we really get to see Bale’s face and his expressions when it comes to the character onscreen.

While Marvel has been able to give us some memorable villains toward the end of the Infinity Saga, I think that the latest entries with Black Widow’s Dreykov and Eternals’ Ikaris  have been kind of forgettable, With Bale and Waititi onboard though, I’m hoping we have a memorable villain to really push Thor to his limits.

Catch Thor: Love and Thunder when it comes out July 8.

Christian Bale had No Idea What the ‘MCU’ was https://www.geekfeed.com/christian-bale-had-no-idea-what-the-mcu-was/ Sun, 26 Jun 2022 17:01:53 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66637 While everyone is excited to see Chris Hemsworth back as Thor in Love and Thunder, a lot of people are curious what kind of performance ex-Batman Christian Bale has to bring to the table. Though some think he would have qualms entering an opposite comic universe after DC, he says he never really shut the idea down.

Talking to Total Film (via Games Radar), Bale was asked whether he was hesitant to join comic movies after the Dark Knight trilogy, to which he replied, “Absolutely not, no. That didn’t even enter into my head at all.” The funny thing is, Bale also had no idea what it meant when people were saying he joined the MCU. “I’d read that, and people would go, ‘Oh, look at this! He’s entered the MCU!’ And I’d go, ‘I’ve done what? I haven’t entered shit, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.”

WIth Bale being known to be such an intense method actor, a lot of people were wondering how he was going to get in touch with the role of someone who wanted to murder gods. While he really wanted to iron something out with director Taika Waititi, it looks like they never got to be as extensive as they wanted to be. Bale says:

“There’s obviously sort of a Nosferatu slight attitude. Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, which we didn’t get to do, but we had all this sort of Kate Bush stuff that we worked at. But I think he just realised he was never going to be allowed to put that in the final film. I would say that the most common thing I was staring at was the Aphex Twin video of ‘Come To Daddy’. But I don’t even know if that will be in the final film.”

Fingers crossed the trailers didn’t spoil too much. While I thought Gorr’s look was originally underwhelming, the trailers make me feel that Christian Bale is going to steal the scene whenever he shows up.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.

Latest Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer Gives First Look at Christian Bale’s God Butcher https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-thor-love-and-thunder-trailer-gives-first-look-at-christian-bales-god-butcher/ Wed, 25 May 2022 14:06:38 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=65342 A month ago we got our first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder, and though we expected to get our next preview sometime around June, Marvel Studios has just dropped a new trailer for the movie, and it gives us a good look at all the returning characters as well as Christian Bale’s new villain—Gorr the God Butcher.

Watch the new Love and Thunder trailer down here:

Here’s the official synopsis:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a search for self-discovery. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

I’ll admit, I was initially skeptical about Gorr’s appearance after the toy leaks, but we can see that Bale is going all-in with the character’s look in the movie. While he does look a tad like Voldemort from the Potter films, I hope that Marvel allowed Bale some leeway when it came to bringing the God Butcher to life.

On the other side of things, we did get more of Natalie Portman in the trailer, but her arc is still pretty much a mystery. With her expected to take the Thor mantle moving forward, I wonder what kind of story they have in mind; because Jane Foster is admittedly one of the blandest characters in the MCU. I mean, who even missed her in Thor: Ragnarok?

Catch Thor: Love and Thunder when it hits theaters on July 8.

Thor: Love and Thunder Toy Leak Showcases Incoming Characters https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-love-and-thunder-toy-leak-showcases-incoming-characters/ Tue, 12 Apr 2022 10:49:16 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64801 With barely three months until the movie comes out, Marvel Studios has really kept their lid shut on Thor: Love and Thunder. It’s likely we’ll get our trailer with the release of Doctor Strange 2, but some new Marvel Legends leaks have given us a look at some incoming characters like Thor, Star-Lord, and Christian Bale’s villain Gorr.

Check these out:

While Jane Foster had brown hair in the films, it looks like her hair will be more blonde when it comes to this movie. We also have a good look at Thor’s ‘Ravager’ outfit which includes the classic yellow wrap around his boots like in the classic Thor comics.

Star-Lord and Groot look pretty much the same as the last time we saw them, and Valkyrie is sporting the same blue sword from Ragnarok. It’s odd that the new armored Thor doesn’t come with an unmasked head, but maybe the helmet is removable. We also see that Korg is the build-a-figure, and he’s covered his outfit in more fur.

Probably the biggest reveal with these toys is that of Gorr the God Butcher, who honestly looks like a smaller version of the engineers from Prometheus. We don’t know why Marvel didn’t want to go with a more comic-accurate look, but I guess Bale has the acting chops to bring this character to life. Hopefully it’s not a one-off bland Marvel villain which we’ve gotten with entries like Black Widow and Eternals.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to release in theaters on July 8, but fans are hoping we get the preview when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes out May 6.

Thor: Love and Thunder LEGO Set Features a New Monster and Gorr the God Butcher https://www.geekfeed.com/thor-love-and-thunder-lego-set-features-a-new-monster-and-gorr-the-god-butcher/ Mon, 28 Feb 2022 16:14:49 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64270 With Marvel busy hyping up the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we’ve barely gotten a look at Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Promo materials have been coming out online though, and the latest one features a huge monster as well as Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale.

The set is called Attack on New Asgard, so it’s safe to assume that this scene takes place on Planet Earth. With Thor blasting off during at the end of Endgame with the Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s possible he could be summoned back to Earth as Gorr comes to New Asgard looking for him.

It’s not entirely clear what kind of story arc Love and Thunder will have, but we can assume that Taika Waititi will be embracing the more humorous tone that Ragnarok was full of. Personally, I would love it if Waititi would take some scenes more seriously, as his indie films have done before. Sure, Thor has become silly, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be injected with some more serious, heartfelt moments. There’s just so much potential there, with Jane coping with cancer; maybe even with Gorr, who must have his own good reason for wanting to kill off gods.

It will be a while before we get a look at Love and Thunder, but hopefully we can get some kind of teaser after Multiverse of Madness releases in May.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to come out on July 8.

Vengeance Descends in New Poster for The Batman https://www.geekfeed.com/vengeance-descends-in-new-poster-for-the-batman/ Fri, 28 Jan 2022 15:17:58 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63667 January is about to end, and March is almost here, which means that Matt Reeves’ The Batman is finally going to hit theaters. WB has been steadily building on the hype, and we have a new poster featuring all the main players of the upcoming film, Batman, Catwoman, Riddler, and the Penguin.

Check out the new poster down here:

While the recent Batman films (including The Dark Knight trilogy) have always had end-of-the-world stakes, it’s said that Reeves’ Batman movie will be more of a slow burn which will focus on Batman’s detective skills. There’s also been word going around that it’s inspired by the comic The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.

If anything, Reeves’ Batman is going to bring a brand new take on the Caped Crusader. With Ben Affleck playing an old and grizzled Batman, and Christian Bale having fully learned the ropes by his second movie; this film looks to focus on a younger Batman in a transitional period. We don’t have to find out his origin story, but we do get to watch him kind of find out who the Batman really is the middle of the late night brawls and sleepless nights.

Let’s just hope this film is the crowd-pleaser WB needs it to be without having to follow that Marvel formula of kid-friendly one-liners.

In his second year of fighting crime, Batman uncovers corruption in Gotham City that connects to his own family while facing a serial killer known as the Riddler.

Catch The Batman when it hits theaters on March 4.

Chris Hemsworth Looks Massive in Thor 4 Wrap Photo https://www.geekfeed.com/chris-hemsworth-looks-massive-in-thor-4-wrap-photo/ Thu, 03 Jun 2021 08:34:52 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=59786 A rumor may be going around that Taika Waititi is in trouble with Marvel/Disney, and while nothing has been officially confirmed, Thor: Love and Thunder has just crossed a major milestone.

As per Chris Hemsworth himself, the fourth Thor film has officially wrapped, and he shares this photo of himself alongside director Taika Waititi who is wearing what looks to be his Korg get-up. Check it out:

While it’s no mystery that MCU stars like Hemsworth and Evans put in a lot of work on their physique for each Marvel film, this is probably the largest we’ve seen Hemsworth. If anything, he looks like he jumped right of an 80s comic, what with those massive arms.

As for Waititi, it looks like they’re going to go a different approach when it comes to his performance as Korg. Before, we usually just see him in a mo-cap suit when he’s filming the part, but now it looks like he’s in full hear, with mo-cap dots on his face. It’s likely the character will still be fully CG, and I guess the costume is lighting reference for the VFX artists; if they’re going to mess with Kord’s height though, it’s funny to think that he’s lost weight as well ever since his days just eating junk food and playing video games in New Asgard.

We don’t have an official plot for Thor: Love and Thunder yet, but the story is said to be a ‘passing of the torch’ from Thor to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who will be taking on Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale).

Catch Thor: Love and Thunder when it comes out Feb. 11, 2022.
