After the smashing success of his biopic Oppenheimer, Nolan is now ready to sink his teeth into his next project, which has gathered an impressive cast including Tom Holland and Matt Damon. Now THR is reporting that the likes of Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron are also going to be part of the cast.
No details have been revealed about the roles, but when it comes to Pattinson’s character, some are expecting it to just be a small role. After all, he’s expected to spend most of his time next year shooting the sequel to The Batman with director Matt Reeves.
It’s also worth noting that Pattinson also worked with Nolan in his last action movie Tenet, which also had several A-list actors playing bit parts.
Besides the cast members mentioned, Nolan’s next movie has also managed to include Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, and Zendaya. No details have been revealed about the movie, but there are rumors going around that it would either have something to do with a high-tech helicopter or be horror film that’s also a period piece.
Based on Nolan’s repertoire, he’s managed to tackle most genres from sci-fi, including jumping forward in time and going back. Who knows, maybe this time he’ll take a stab at buddy comedies?
Christopher Nolan’s next movie is set to release in theatres on July 17, 2026.
]]>Discover how ordinary cars and trunks were transformed into badass combat machines that pushed the laws of physics in some of the most intense high-velocity action ever put on film.
Mad Max is admittedly a movie which tells its story without saying a word, so it’s great that we can have some insight on the designs used and how they were treated as extensions of a character’s costume.
It’s actually a neat concept that cars represent power in the Wasteland, and we see Max lose his when his car gets totalled. And when it comes to Immortan Joe who is no doubt one of the most powerful men around, he has a car that’s literally two of everything, from double the wheels to the two cars that have been welded together.
Like I said, Furiosa may not be doing Marvel numbers, but critically everyone has been praising the film. We don’t know if we’ll get a sequel to this, but so far, Miller has told a story that brings Furiosa’s arc full circle with this latest jump into the Wasteland.
Catch Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga now showing in theaters.
]]>Though a lot of fans think they should have just brought Charlize Theron back to reprise the role, Miller and Taylor-Joy have revealed that director Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho) had helped sell the role to Taylor-Joy to Miller.
Talking to MovieMaker, Miller explained, “I knew from Edgar Wright just how good she was. And so that proved to be the case on this film — very, very rigorous about her role.” Taylor-Joy also shared that it was Wright who told her that Miller wanted to meet with her. She shares:
“I got a text from Edgar Wright, who said George Miller wants to talk to you, and immediately, just my whole body felt electrified.”
We don’t know what Wright is doing now, but he has admittedly started taking it slow since the release of Last Night in Soho. He has two films in the works called The Chain and The Running Man, but we haven’t heard much about those projects yet. Wright did celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Shaun of the Dead —no doubt his breakout film— earlier this month.
Going back to Miller though, a lot of fans have been excited for the return of the Mad Max world since Fury Road came out in 2015. A Mad Max-centered movie may have had a hard time getting off the ground, but maybe a Furiosa spinoff would be just as exciting.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is expected to release in theaters on May 24.
]]>Here’s the first trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth:
The synopsis reads:
As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
In Fury Road, we know that Furiosa ends up working for Immortan Joe, but I guess it would be interesting to see just how she takes on Dementus—who is being played by Chris Hemsworth with a fake nose.
We know that Fury Road was praised for its practical action and production design, and we should expect even more of it when it comes to Furiosa. We don’t know where Miller wants to take the story, but I would mind a flash forward with Charlize Theron reprising the role and discovering what happened to her life after Max showed up and helped defeat Immortan Joe.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is set to come out on May 24, 2024.
]]>According to Deadline, Taylor-Joy has already wrapped work on Furiosa. We don’t have any more details on the film, but seeing as how much hype Fury Road was able to generate, we should expect some kind of huge announcement when the whole production wraps.
Here’s the synopsis for the film (via SFFGazette):
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus… Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
When we meet Furiosa in Fury Road, she’s already the ‘Imperator’ for Immortan Joe. Of course, she does conspire to save Joe’s wives from the fortress, and I guess this movie is going to show us why Furiosa had the drive to save those women despite thriving in the harsh conditions of Joe’s ‘kingdom’.
Besides Taylor-Joy, the movie also has Chris Hemsworth who will likely play the part of Dementus. We don’t have a look at him in the film yet, but I just love when Hemsworth plays a villain like in Bad Times at El Royale and Spiderhead.
Furiosa comes to theaters on May 24, 2024.
]]>This comes from WB Pictures (via CBR):
As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
Like I said, Taylor-Joy will be playing the younger version of Furiosa, but she will also be joined by Thor star Chris Hemsworth who everyone is assuming will be playing the Warlord Dementus. Since Hugh Keays-Bryne died in 2020, it’s possible the movie will cast someone else to play a youger Immortan Joe. Who knows, maybe this film can explain to us why Joe needs to keep on that mask in the first place.
Since Furiosa is one of Joe’s more trusted allies when we meet her in Fury Road, we can assume that we’re going to be watching her rise up the ranks over the course of the film. It’s possible that Miller could be planning more than just one film with the character, but for now it would be great if they just focused on telling a complete story.
Catch Furiosa when it hits theaters on May 24, 2024.
]]>As it turns out, Hemsworth will actually be playing the part of the villain in Mad Max: Furiosa. This comes from Kyle Buchanan’s book Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road (via /Film). In the book, producer P.J. Voeten shares:
“George saw Chris [Hemsworth] initially as a courtesy and then fell in love with the idea. He’s going to play totally against type, the lead baddie. Unfortunately, we’ve got to find all of our other characters that aren’t around anymore: a new Immortan, a new Bullet Farmer, and a few others.”
If anything, this isn’t the first time that Hemsworth has played a villain. He was the surprise villain of Ghostbusters 2016, and in a more serious movie, he played a Charles Manson type in Bad Times at the El Royale.
Hemsworth has certainly found a type to play over the years, but I’m interested to watch him disappear into a role—especially with a franchise like Mad Max. He doesn’t have to be Immortan Joe, but his character would have to be visually arresting just from one look.
Besides Hemsworth, Furiosa also includes Anya Taylor-Joy who will be playing a younger Furiosa (Charlize Theron). Tom Burke has also been cast in the film.
Furiosa is set to hit theaters May 24, 2024.
