According to Deadline, Luca Guadagnino (Challengers, Call Me By Your Name) is said to be in final negotiations to do another stab an adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho book. Besides Guadagnino directing, Scott Z. Burns is said to be providing the screenplay.

Lionsgate’s group chair Adam Fogelson had this to say about the remake:

“We are thrilled to add another elite filmmaker to our upcoming slate… Luca is a brilliant artist, and the perfect visionary to create a whole new interpretation of this potent and classic IP.”

We have no official details about the movie yet, but fancasts have already been going out online for who should be the next Patrick Bateman. Names like Austin Butler and Timothee Chalamet have been thrown around, but probably the biggest fan-favorite for the part is toxic boyfriend of the year, Jacob Elordi—who became the mascot of psychotic boyfriends thanks to his role as Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria.

I honestly don’t know how Guadagnino’s American Psycho could be different from the original, but a lot of fans think he’s definitely a great pick and can’t wait to see what kind of movie he’s going to deliver. The book has been said to be more violent, but maybe they could push the timeline forward if they want to say something more relevant to the times. The original did seem like a representation of the coked-up Wall Street that fuelled the 80s.

No release date has been announced for the American Psycho remake.

Zendaya Joins a Throuple in Trailer for Challengers from Call Me By Your Name Director https://www.geekfeed.com/zendaya-joins-a-throuple-in-challengers/ Sat, 24 Jun 2023 16:40:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77413 It’s going to be a while before we get the next season of Euphoria, and if The Idol on HBO isn’t really your thing, you can catch Zendaya in some more drama with the upcoming movie from director Luca Guadangnino.

Check out the trailer for Challengers:

The official description of the film reads:

From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – West Side Story), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor – The Crown) – his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. As their pasts and presents collide, and tensions run high, Tashi must ask herself, what will it cost to win.

Guadagnino is no doubt a critical darling when it comes to indie drama, so I can imagine a lot of fans that follow his work will be excited for Challengers. It’s kind of funny that Zendaya would find herself as the lead, seeing that Guadagnino’s most highly-regarded films star Timothee Chalamet—who is Zendaya’s love interest in Dune.

Who knows, maybe Chalamet could make some kind of small appearance, like he did in Don’t Look Up.

Challengers is set to hit theaters on Sept. 15.
