Cailee Spaeny – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Thu, 24 Oct 2024 11:42:33 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Cailee Spaeny – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 Cast for Beef Season 2 Announced with Oscar Isaac, Cailee Spaeny, and More https://www.geekfeed.com/cast-for-netflix-beef-season-2-announced/ Thu, 24 Oct 2024 11:42:33 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84909 A lot of fans thought that Netflix’s Beef starring Ali Wong and Steven Yeun had ended perfectly and a second season wasn’t really needed; but as it turns out, they’re going the anthology direction with this series, and the cast has just been announced for the second season.

As per the official Netflix announcement, Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton, and Cailee Spaeny will be leading the cast of Beef Season 2. Check this out:

Though the first season had two different people having ‘beef’ with each other, it does look like the second season is going to be featuring feuding couples this time around. Just based on the story description alone, it does look like class disparity will still be at the heart of the series, but with twice the number of leads, we should expect twice the amount of drama.

The first season of Beef had come out last year and was met with critical acclaim. Besides the overall artsy vibe and aesthetic, the series also featured some very high stakes drama that just kept escalating this odd rivalry between two miserable people.

Steven Yeun has been a beloved talent for a while, but Ali Wong really shined with the series, delivering a stellar dramatic performance—not so bad for someone who is best known for doing stand-up while pregnant.

I actually have my fingers crossed that the second season makes some kind of reference to Danny and Amy in some way.

It’s unclear when Season 2 of Beef comes out, but with the cast announced, I’m optimistic we can get the premiere sometime next year.

Alien: Romulus Director Confirms Who the Father of Kay’s Child Is https://www.geekfeed.com/alien-romulus-director-on-father-of-kays-child/ Sun, 25 Aug 2024 05:34:02 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83898 Alien: Romulus had started early with the revelation that Isabela Merced’s character Kay was pregnant, and while the identity of the father was brushed off as unimportant, director Fede Alvarez has confirmed that the father was in the movie all along.

As confirmed on Reddit (via @f0undfootage) before he was mistakenly banned by a mod, the father of Kay’s child is actually Bjorn. This was the exchange:

While some thought that the look that the characters shared with each other could have meant something, it had been brushed off by fans who had paid attention to the detail that the two were cousins. I guess them being related adds more to the reason why they would keep the baby a secret.

Plus, Bjorn was also being romantic with crew member Navarro, so it gave them another reason not to tell the rest of the crew about Kay’s pregnancy.

For now, Alien: Romulus is getting a lot of great praise online. Sure, the film has been getting bashed for committing the mortal sin of digital necromancy with Ian Holm, but besides that, the movie looks absolutely fantastic from the set to the creatures, and director Fede Alvarez continues to prove that he’s a modern auteur when it comes to the horror genre.

No sequel has been announced for Romulus yet, but the film definitely ends with the promise of more to come with the character of Rain. Hopefully they manage to close the storyline with David (Michael Fassbender) in the next film.

Catch Alien: Romulus now showing in theatres.

New Alien: Romulus Featurette Puts Spotlight on Cailee Spaeny’s Rain https://www.geekfeed.com/alien-romulus-featurette-cailee-spaenys-rain/ Thu, 08 Aug 2024 13:08:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83683 Fans may have watched Cailee Spaeny get terrorized by Elvis Presley in Priscilla, but now she’s going to be terrorized by a more literal monster in Alien: Romulus.

The movie is expected to come out later this month, and we have a new featurette focusing on the franchise’s new lead, Rain. Check this out:

Though the Alien franchise has had quite the story over the decades, Romulus is looking to go back to basics with the film looking like a horror movie set in space.

Just like Ripley, Rain looks to be another normal citizen who is just somehow thrust into this nightmare situation filled with aliens and facehuggers. But seeing as this is a big studio movie, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something special about Rain that the movie is actively hiding in the marketing.

Though I am happy that the Alien franchise is circling back to practical horror, I am hoping that they find a way to satisfyingly end David’s (Michael Fassbender) arc that was started in the Prometheus movie. Covenant had David incubating his ‘perfected’ xenomorph in a ship headed toward human civilization. Maybe it’s the very same ship that Rain and her crew will end up in.

I still have my fingers crossed that David will make one final appearance. You’d think Fassbender would be available for at least one scene.

Watch out for Alien: Romulus when it creeps its way into theatres on Aug. 16.

The OG Sci-Fi Horror Icon is Back in Final Trailer for Alien: Romulus https://www.geekfeed.com/sci-fi-horror-icon-is-back-in-alien-romulus/ Fri, 19 Jul 2024 10:57:30 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83429 The Alien franchise has gotten in a pretty weird place since Prometheus, but now 20th Century Studios is ready to go back to its horror roots with the upcoming Alien: Romulus.

The film is set to hit theatres this August, and we have a final trailer showcasing all the horrors fans can expect from the Alien franchise. Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Alien: Romulus” takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The film stars Cailee Spaeny who has been having a remarkable year, being the lead in Priscilla and also appearing in Alex Garland’s Civil War. The cast also includes David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, and Spile Fearn.

What’s great is that director Fede Alvarez has also given an emphasis on the practical effects for this film—which really shine in the trailer. With the signature vibe of Alien mixed up with Alvarez’s penchant for gore, Alien: Romulus should be an interesting entry point into the franchise which should set the mood for future Alien movies—should they be making any more.

I’m just hoping that they somehow manage to close the book on Michael Fassbender’s villain David. Though the last Alien films haven’t been perfect, Fassbender’s David has been a very interesting villain, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was him who was actually running the Romulus lab before these characters got there.

Alien: Romulus comes to cinemas on Aug. 16.

Sci-Fi Horror is Back in Trailer for Alien: Romulus https://www.geekfeed.com/sci-fi-horror-in-trailer-for-alien-romulus/ Wed, 05 Jun 2024 10:56:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82756 We already saw Cailee Spaeny take on a predator in Priscilla, but now she’s ready to take on Xenomorphs in the next Alien film from director Fede Alvarez. Alien: Romulus is expected to come out this August, and we have our first full trailer.

Check this out:

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Alien: Romulus” takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Like the description suggests, this looks like a return to form for the Alien franchise. Though the last few films had focused on soldiers and scientists taking on Xenomorphs, a lot of people who remember the first film know that the original crew was just the sci-fi equivalent of blue collar truckers.

Though it does seem that Romulus is going to be steering away from the storyline established by Prometheus, I hope that we get at least some closure to David’s story from Alien: Covenant. We don’t know what’s happened to David, but it’s possible that this could be his lab, and these unlucky people just so happened to have stumbled into all these Xenomorphs.

I’ll admit, I was ready to see where Ridley Scott wanted to take the franchise with Prometheus, but this stylistic return to the original formula does feel like something I’ve missed as well.

Alien: Romulus comes to cinemas on Aug. 16.

Andrew Scott Joins Cast of Knives Out 3 https://www.geekfeed.com/andrew-scott-joins-cast-of-knives-out-3/ Wed, 29 May 2024 18:26:21 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=82665 We just got the reveal for the next Knives Out movie with Wake Up Dead Man, and now the cast is slowly being put together. What’s great for Sherlock and Fleabag fans is that there’s one fan-favorite actor that’s going to be sharing the screen with Benoit Blanc.

According to Variety, Andrew Scott has been cast in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.  He joins a cast which includes Josh O’Connor (Challengers) and Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla). Of course, it wouldn’t be a Knives Out movie if Daniel Craig wasn’t back to reprise his role as Blanc.

We don’t have any details on who Scott can be playing, but we know that he can play both endearing and threatening depending on what the role demands.

Though some may think that Johnson may be leaning too hard on these ‘whodunnits’ ever since Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he does say that he thinks that the genre is very diverse, and there are multiple ways that he can take a stab at the murder-mystery with this new IP. He says:

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is… There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”

Hopefully we get more cast announcments soon; fingers crossed Kelly Marie Tran or Adam Driver get cast in this one.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to come to Netflix sometime in 2025.

Beef Season 2 to Feature Two New Couples https://www.geekfeed.com/beef-season-2-to-feature-two-new-couples/ Fri, 01 Mar 2024 05:24:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81261 The Bear may be a series about a restaurant called ‘The Beef’ but Netflix also had a hit show called Beef about two feuding people played wonderfully by Ali Wong and Steven Yeun. Though the series was pretty much a well-contained story, it does seem that there is going to be a second season.

According to Deadline, Beef EP Lee Sung-jin is currently working on the second season of the show, and the story won’t be bringing back the characters of Danny and Amy. Rather, the second season is said to be focusing on two new feuding couples.

Though the casting isn’t solidified yet, it’s said that the four actors being considered for the part are Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Anne Hathaway. Melton and Spaeny had recently gotten the spotlight with films May December and Priscilla respectively, but Hathaway and Gyllenaal have already starred as a couple multiple times with Brokeback Mountain and Love & Other Drugs.

I’ll admit, I kind of wanted to see where Danny and Amy were going to go in the series,  after the finale, but it does feel like the entire point of their ‘beef’ was already done. I can accept the series being an anthology of people just constantly feuding over each other in more spectacular ways every season.

Here’s the synopsis for the first season:

Two people let a road rage incident burrow into their minds and slowly consume their every thought and action.

No release date has been set for the second season, but you can catch the fantastic first season of Beef now streaming on Netflix.

Cailee Spaeny Reveals New Plot Details for Alien: Romulus https://www.geekfeed.com/spaeny-reveals-new-plot-details-for-alien-romulus/ Wed, 29 Nov 2023 16:34:48 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79883 It was back in 2017 when we got Alien: Covenant, and the film was so poorly received that it effectively stopped the franchise in its tracks. Even if that is the case, 20th Century Studios is still going to give us Alien: Romulus, and we have some new plot details thanks to star Cailee Spaeny.

Talking to Variety, Spaeny revealed that the film will be taking place between the events of Alien and Aliens—the first two films in the franchise. She says, “It’s supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie.”

Granted there is 57 years between the timeline of Alien and Aliens, so there is a lot of room for Romulus to tell its story—it can even tell a whole new trilogy should things go right.

Admittedly, Covenant did end with the tease that David (Michael Fassbender) was planning to cause some chaos with the new Xenomorphs that he’s breeded. With a whole new cast of characters being focused on for Romulus, I’m just hoping they manage to tie up any loose ends, because he’s undoubtedly one of the best characters to come out of the franchise ever since they rebooted the whole thing with Prometheus.

If anything, David has already transcended two different crews with Prometheus and Covenant, so it does kind of track that he would be facing a new cast of characters. But until it’s officially revealed, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Alien: Romulus is aiming for a release date on Aug. 16, 2024.

Watch Behind-The-Scenes Look at A24’s Priscilla https://www.geekfeed.com/watch-behind-the-scenes-look-at-a24s-priscilla/ Mon, 16 Oct 2023 14:34:07 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79217 Elvis Presley got the spotlight again with last year’s Elvis film from Baz Luhrmann, but A24 is going a different direction with the King’s story with their upcoming movie with Sofia Coppola—Priscilla.

The film is set to come to theaters this November, and we have a new behind-the-scenes look with Coppola and Priscilla Presley herself. Watch this:

When I read Priscilla’s memoir, I was just struck with what an unusual, wild her life has been,” says Coppola.

Though their romance was kind of watered down for the Elvis film, this movie is set to really embrace just how absurd the notion is of a 14-year-old Priscilla somehow finding herself as the would-be wife of one of the biggest icons of the US at the time—who was 24 when they met.

Butler’s Elvis may have been played in a more sympathetic light for his picture, but it’s very likely that this movie is going to have Elvis be more of a sinister presence in Priscilla’s story. I mean, why else would they cast Jacob Elordi, arguably the toxic boyfriend of the decade, to play the King of Rock and Roll?

With Coppola’s reputation as a filmmaker, a lot of fans are excited to see how she’s going to be presenting this story, what with her teaming up with A24. After the success of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie earlier this year, 2023 is coming out great for feminist movie lovers.

Watch out for Priscilla when the film comes out on Nov. 3.

Priscilla Trailer Shines Different Light on the ElvisxPriscilla Romance https://www.geekfeed.com/priscilla-shines-light-on-the-elvis-romance/ Thu, 05 Oct 2023 09:37:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79023 Audiences were wowed last year when Austin Butler acted his heart out for Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, but now director Sofia Coppola is looking to tell the same kind of story from a different angle with the film Priscilla.

Watch the new trailer here starring Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown) and Jacob Elordi (Euphoria):

The official synopsis for the movie reads:

When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend. Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.

Though the Elvis movie had portrayed the romance of Priscilla and Elvis as nicely as they could, they did leave out some very key details—specifically the fact that Priscilla was only 14 when she met 24-year-old Elvis Presley.

With the Elvis biopic pretty much focusing on the story of the King of Rock and Roll, it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of film Sofia Coppola is going to deliver with the lens now through Priscilla’s eyes.

I also have to say kudos to Jacob Elordi who plays Elvis pretty well in the trailer; sure he could add a few pounds, but everyone is already commending him for his accent and secretly threatening vibe. What else would you expect from one of the most toxic characters in Euphoria?

Watch out for Priscilla when the film comes to cinemas on Nov. 3.
