Avatar Studios – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com Entertainment News, Celebrities and Fandoms Fri, 13 Dec 2024 10:35:10 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://www.geekfeed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/cropped-Geekfeed-Favicon-White-32x32.png Avatar Studios – Geekfeed https://www.geekfeed.com 32 32 More Alleged Avatar Leaks Reveal Pavi’s Twin and Her Spirit Animal https://www.geekfeed.com/more-alleged-avatar-leaks-reveal-pavis-twin/ Fri, 13 Dec 2024 10:35:10 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85581 Just like they did with The Legend of Korra, it looks like Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are looking to bring something completely new with their avatar series after Korra.

While no official announcements have been made, leaks have started to come out online of the new Avatar Pavi; and while they only started as rumors, storyboards and concept art are starting to convince fans that all the leaks have been real.

Now a new leak reveals the rumoured twin that Pavi has—Nisha— as well as her spirit animal, Ruhi. Check these out:

The rumor has it that the new Avatar is actually going to be a pair of twins who both share the power to control all four elements. Some rumors have been mixed, suggesting that only one is the Avatar, or the other one is a Dark Avatar (harkening to the spirits of Raava and Vaatu). The spirit animals definitely visual the light vs. dark difference with Pavi’s Geet being white/grey and Ruhi being black.

It’s also just speculation, but Jae does look like a modern airbender, and the concept art reveals another likely airbender with Captain Karthik. With the world allegedly being transformed from the four nations to seven havens, it’s possible that only the airbenders are the ones to be able to travel from place to place.

So far, I think the series looks fantastic. Though there are some fans complaining about how a lot of the lore is destroyed, I think a constant reinvention of the world is neat whenever a new Avatar is introduced—raising the stakes and giving them different conflicts.

Besides, spinoffs focused on an adult Aang, Korra, and even previous avatars like Kiyoshi are said to be in the works, so the Four Nations aren’t going to run out of stories any time soon.

No release date has been announced for the Avatar series after Legend of Korra.

Possible First Look and Plot Details for Next Avatar Series after The Legend of Korra https://www.geekfeed.com/first-look-and-plot-details-for-next-avatar/ Mon, 09 Dec 2024 10:05:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85540 Avatar: The Legend of Korra may not have ended the way fans were expecting in 2014, but it still had its fans, and it is still considered part of the main Avatar canon. The cycle of the Avatar continues though, and Avatar Studios is said to be hard at work at a new series focused on the Avatar after Korra.

We don’t have any official details revealed, but Knight Edge Media has released some possible story details for the show. While some fans took this with a grain of salt, a following post was made on Reddit of some art and a storyboard that basically confirms a lot of details from the report.

The post has since been deleted, but the pictures of “Avatar Pavi” have already been going around online:

The original report from KEM had detailed that the new Avatar would be named Pavi, and she’s a girl that looks to be younger than Aang when ATLA started. She’s said to be an Earthbending girl, who is also a paraplegic; she has a metal prosthetic leg, and it’s implied that she could alter it with the use of metalbending.

The man standing besides Pavi is Jae, and he’s said to be a new generation of Airbender (thus the arrows on his outfit and yellow/orange color scheme.

As far as the setting goes, it’s said that during this time, the Four Nations no longer exist; a cataclysmic event was said to have split the world in several countries or ‘havens’. It’s also worth noting that this event was said to have been stopped by Korra, and is probably the reason she died. Pavi is living in one of the havens when we meet her, and she also has a cat/monkey spirit animal companion named Geet which is big enough to ride.

There is also something about Pavi having a twin who could also have Avatar powers and is raised by the White Lotus, but it’s not clear how they got separted or how Pavi ended up alone fending for her life.

Again, this is all just considered to be a rumor, but after the drop of the storyboards, fans are starting to think that there is a lot of truth to the site’s initial report.

Personally, I think it’s a great setting, and it’s exactly the kind of story subversion that I love about the succeeding Avatar series—plus it cements Korra as the most powerful Avatar.

We don’t know when they’ll make an official reveal, but hopefully we get something before the year ends. Even a teaser would be nice.

No release date has been announced for the next Avatar series.

AAA Avatar: The Last Airbender Prequel RPG in the Works https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-airbender-prequel-rpg-in-the-works/ Mon, 07 Oct 2024 19:28:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84622 With the rich lore and vast world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, fans have been clamouring for years for someone to develop an open-world RPG. Multiple attempts have been made online, but it looks like Paramount is ready to throw some serious money at the project.

According to IGN, Paramount Games and Saber Interactive (World War Z: Aftermath, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered) are teaming up with Avatar Studios to develop an AAA Airbender game that’s set in the world of the Four Nations.

There’s no official gameplay or concept art to look at yet, but the story is said to be focusing on an “all-new, never-before-seen Avatar” who existed thousands of years before the events of the original show. As far as expectations go, the developers said that players can expect “to be immersed in a vibrant world, master all four elements, engage in dynamic combat alongside companions, and experience the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance in the world.”

So far, the oldest Avatar that fans have already met in the series is Avatar Wan, the first Avatar, who was introduced in The Legend of Korra. There’s probably hundreds (or thousands) of Avatars between Wan and Aang, so it’s likely that they could find someone that exists somewhere in the middle—way before the time of Avatars like Kiyoshi or Avatar Yangchen.

Paramount’s Doug Rosen said, “We know loyal fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been eager for more stories that bring them into the universe of the show, and through gaming, we’re able to expand the world-building and allow fans to experience the new content in a completely immersive way… Saber Interactive has a proven track record in bringing IP-based games to life, and we are excited to co-fund this AAA title alongside them and let fans experience this world first-hand.”

No release date has been announced for the game, but fingers are crossed we could get a first look sometime around next year. Hopefully they’ll be ready to release it in two years—lining it up with the hype of the live-action Netflix show.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Mobile Strategy Game Announced https://www.geekfeed.com/avatar-the-last-airbender-mobile-strategy-game/ Fri, 11 Aug 2023 14:33:55 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78190 It may be a while before we get some new Avatar material set in the world of The Last Airbender, but we do know that multiple projects are in the works including an animated film as well as a series that follows the Avatar after Korra.

According to Avatar News, a new mobile strategy game from Tilting Point and AN Games has been announced that will take place in the world of ATLA, but it’s unclear as to which era. The press release reads:

“The strategic mobile game will have players explore the Avatar world, interact with beloved characters and work together with other players to defeat a Barbarian Death Cult that worships an evil spirit set on dominating the world. Launching in 2024, the game’s official title and additional details will be announced in the coming months.”

Here’s also some key art that features characters from both The Last Airbender as well as The Legend of Korra:

via: Avatar News

We also don’t have a look at the gameplay of the new Airbender game yet, but players are said to be taking on the role of a leader who would be ‘building an army and community to restore balance in the Avatar world.’ Like every strategy game, we should expect to build cities, manage resources, and upgrade buildings. Players can also team up to manage resources and expand territories.

While fans think Avatar is really all about the benders and their abilities, I’m curious as to what a city-building strategy game could look like. Will it jump eras like Civilization? Or do we get to pick the era where specific avatars are active? I’m sure there are fans who would love to run around Avatar Wan’s world with the flying lion turtles.

Watch out for this Avatar strategy game when it launches sometime in 2024.

Avatar- The Last Airbender: First Images Releases for Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Zuko https://www.geekfeed.com/avatar-the-last-airbender-first-images-releases/ Tue, 20 Jun 2023 14:10:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77372 We’ve been getting news about Netflix’s live-action adaptation for Avatar: The Last Airbender for years, but only now has the streaming giant given us our first look at the show. Thanks to the TUDUM 2023 event, we know have our first images for Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), Sokka (Ian Ousley), and Zuko (Dallas Liu).

Check these out:

Netflix also dropped a teaser, but it doesn’t really have any footage from the series in it; what we do have are some animated insignias for each of the four nations; the Air Nomads, the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, and the Fire Nation.

Though some fans are excited for the series to come to live-action, a lot are admittedly cautious with their optimism. M. Night Shyamalan’s adaptation of the material is still poorly regarded by the fandom; and fans didn’t think it was a good sign that original Airbender creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko left the project back in 2020.

Even if you’re already not interested, Konietzko and DiMartino have teamed up with Netflix with Avatar Studios, and they’re looking to expand on the Airbender lore with a new series featuring the Avatar after Korra, as well as an animated film with the adult Team Avatar.

Either way, Airbender fans are sure going to have a lot of things to look forward to in the next few years.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender series is looking to premiere sometime in 2024.

Avatar Reveals New Look at Fire Lord Sozin’s Sister, Zeisan https://www.geekfeed.com/avatar-reveals-fire-lord-sozins-sister-zeisan/ Sat, 25 Mar 2023 14:08:24 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=75984 Avatar Studios is currently hard at work with new series and an incoming movie, but we’ll have to wait until 2025 before we see anything. What’s interesting is, we have a new look at a character that was introduced in the Avatar roleplaying game, and it’s possible that she could be showing up in a future project.

Here’s a look at Princess Zeisan, the sister of Fire Lord Sozin:

Though we never see Zeisan in the series, the RPG reveals that she was a rival to her brother Sozin (not unlike Azula to Zuko). Though Zeisan wasn’t a bender, she was adept in chi-blocking; she also has a love for the teachings of the air nomads and even got engaged to one.

it’s also worth noting that she is a bisexual character, having a female lover before she decided to get engaged to an Air Monk. I guess having her adapting the Air Nomad culture is supposed to add more fuel to the fire with her brother Sozin, since it was him that pulled off the Air Nomad genocide with Sozin’s Comet.

We don’t know how frequent these Avatar reveals are going to be, but it certainly is interesting to see the world get more fleshed out. For all the popularity that A Song of Ice and Fire has, it’s interesting to watch a fantasy IP get more characters and lore as extensive as The Last Airbender’s.

Catch the incoming Avatar properties when they release sometime in 2025.

Possible New Details about the Avatar Series After The Legend of Korra https://www.geekfeed.com/possible-new-details-about-the-avatar-series/ Wed, 04 Jan 2023 12:20:49 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72735 2025 will see the release of the new Avatar series that will focus on the Avatar after Korra, but so far, Avatar Studios is yet to give us some more details on the story. What’s cool is, a rumor is going around saying the series will now have a sort of Cyberpunk setting.

This comes from @MyTimeToShineH:

I guess the rumor does kind of track with what’s been reported before. With the assumption that the series takes place roughly 100 years after Korra’s time, we should be expecting a series that takes place around the present day—but when you throw bending in the mix, we can expect societies to evolve in a very different way.

Though bending is the big element of the universe that makes it unique, fans will also have to remember that Korra opened up the spirit world during her time, so we should expect a different kind of evolution for society moving forward.

Personally, I’m just excited to have a series that will push the story forward. Though I do love Aang and friends, I think they are leaning too heavily on him despite his arc being over. I would love to see more of Korra moving forward, but I’m also open to this new Avatar and waiting to see how their arc will be different.

The next Avatar series is expected to come out sometime in 2025.

Next Avatar Series Set After Legend of Korra has 2025 Premiere Date https://www.geekfeed.com/next-avatar-series-after-lok-set-for-2025/ Mon, 26 Dec 2022 17:04:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72638 The Legend of Korra ended back in 2014, and though there is another attempt to bring Aang to live-action, it seems that Avatar Studios is ready to jump forward in the timeline.

As per Avatar News, a new Avatar series is in the works, and it will now focus on the next avatar in the cycle after Korra—meaning that they’re going to be coming from the Earth Kingdom. Since there was a roughly 100-year gap between Aang and Korra’s story, we should expect the same thing for this new avatar, which means his story could take place in the present day.

The series is said to aim for a premiere in 2025, the very same year that the animated film centered on an adult Aang is expected to release. Though the wait is going to be long 2025 is considered to be the real debut of Avatar Studios. Though things didn’t work out for Netflix and Nickelodeon before, I’m hoping that Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino manage to launch a whole new, Star Wars-level franchise with the world of Avatar.

I’ll admit, I am still kind of a sucker for nostalgia-baiting with the upcoming Aang movie, but I am more excited to see the new avatar in the cycle after Korra. Though we should expect some present-day elements to make it to the new world, I think we’ll also be seeing some significant differences with the bending thrown in, and with Korra releasing the spirits during her time.

Watch out for the next Avatar series when it premieres in 2025.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Animated Movie Sets 2025 Release Date https://www.geekfeed.com/the-last-airbender-movie-sets-2025-release-date/ Wed, 16 Nov 2022 14:08:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=72017 It’s been fourteen years since we saw the ending of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but Aang and his friends are ready for a comeback, and on the big screen this time. We’ve known for a while that Avatar Studios is ready to bring back the OG Team Avatar, and now we have a release date for the movie.

According to Variety, the untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender film is aiming for a release on October 10, 2025. No other details have been released about the story, but we can bet that the film will give us appearances from Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko.

So far, the aftermath of ATLA has been pretty much laid out by The Legend of Korra, with us finding out that Aang helps build Republic City as a hub for members of all nations. We don’t know what part of the timeline this movie is going to be, but some guess that it could focus on an adult Team Avatar that could be reuniting for one more adventure.

With Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko greatly expanding on the ATLA lore with Korra, I seriously have no idea where they could go when it comes to Aang’s story. While I do think it’s great to see Aang and the others again, I think it would ultimately be better if we just had a story that pushed forward. But who knows? Maybe the duo has something up their sleeves. Fingers crossed Korra gets some more love in the future as well.

The Avatar: The Last Airbender film comes out Oct. 10, 2025.

Avatar Studios Developing 3 Animated Movies https://www.geekfeed.com/avatar-studios-developing-3-animated-movies/ Wed, 22 Jun 2022 03:04:44 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=66583 Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino may have had a falling out with Netflix, but this resulted in the two to getting their own studio working solely on Avatar content. Now we have news on the first movies coming from Avatar Studios.

According to The Wrap, Avatar Studios is currently working on three animated movies that will be set in the world of Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. While plot details are still under wraps, we do know that the first film will be directed by Lauren Montgomery, who had worked on The Last Airbender and Voltron: Legendary Defender.

President of Animation and Development at Paramount and Nickelodeon Animation Ramsey Naito says about the projects:

“As original creators Mike and Bryan expand the Avatar universe with us, we’re keeping it all in the family with Lauren bringing the same kind of expert, beautiful work she did on the original series to her new directing duties on the forthcoming theatrical [releases],”

While Netflix is gearing up to adapt the original series, it’s very likely that these movies will further expand the story. While I think it’s completely possible to tell the story of a whole new Avatar, I think there will be some fans who will want to know more about Aang’s adventures after the events of the original show. If anything, they can also continue the story of Korra, which kind of limped toward the finish line when the funding was cut with the final season.

With the world of Avatar so full of potential, hopefully Avatar Studios manages to grow the audience into something as big as Star Wars. We don’t know when we’ll get our first look at the films, but I’m crossing my fingers we get something before the year ends.

Azula, Suki, and More Cast in Netflix’s Avatar https://www.geekfeed.com/azula-suki-and-more-cast-in-netflixs-avatar/ Mon, 27 Dec 2021 15:20:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62994 The cast of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to grow, and the series has now cast someone in what some consider one of the most solid villains to ever grace the screen.

As per Variety, Elizabeth Yu (All My Love) has been cast as Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. She is the younger (by two years) sister of Prince Zuko who is a fire-bending prodigy and all-around sociopath. While Azula doesn’t really play a huge part in the first book, she becomes a major threat in the next two seasons, with her battle with Zuko being one of the highlights of the finale.

Besides Azula, the series has also found some other familiar characters. Maria Zhang will be playing the part of Suki, leader of the Kiyoshi Warriors; and Yvonne Chapman will play the part of Avatar Kiyoshi. Gran Gran has also been cast with Casey Camp-Horinek, and the show will also give us Suki’s mother Yukari with Tamlyn Tomita.

While the cast continues to grow, there is still some uneasy animosity coming from the ATLA fandom toward this upcoming live-action adaptation. With original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko leaving the series, a lot are wondering what exactly Netflix did to get them to leave. Either way, the pair are now working on expanding the Avatar brand for Nickelodeon with Avatar Studios. Netflix better hope this series works because kicking out the brains behind the original IP better have been worth it.

No release date has been set for Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Nickelodeon’s Avatar Films will be CG-Animated https://www.geekfeed.com/nickelodeons-avatar-films-will-be-cg-animated/ Sat, 04 Sep 2021 05:20:46 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61311 Netflix may have found principal cast members for their live-action Avatar series, but original ATLA creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have once again teamed up with Nickelodeon to make a whole bunch of new content with Avatar Studios.

Though we don’t have a look at any of the content that AS has come up with yet, we do get a status update on the upcoming animated Avatar films.

Talking to ViacomCBS, Nickelodeon president and CEO Brian Robbins has confirmed that the films that will be produced by Avatar Studios will be CG-animated. He says:

“… One of the other big projects that we’re working on, on the theatrical front is Avatar. We signed a deal to bring the original creators of Avatar back into the studios. They started Avatar Studios, and they’re well on their way in development on a series of CG films and a new Avatar series.”

With the franchise having such a huge emphasis when it comes to visuals, fans should expect that Nickelodeon will up the ante when it comes to their animated films. If anything, they need to have something that looks a lot closer to Raya and the Last Dragon and not the latest Spongebob film.

Personally, I would love a 2D animated film, with minimal CG. With Avatar taking influence from anime, it would be fantastic if we could get a movie on the same par with Your Name or A Silent Voice. Hopefully DiMartino and Konietzko will consider it down the line.

No release date has been set for the theatrical Avatar movie.

Netflix Reveals Cast for Live-Action Last Airbender Series https://www.geekfeed.com/netflix-reveals-cast-for-live-action-last-airbender-series/ Fri, 13 Aug 2021 10:19:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=61022 Original Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino may have left Netflix to work on Avatar Studios, but the streaming giant is pushing forward with their adaptation of the cult series. Now news has come out that they’ve found their live-action actors for Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Zuko.

Here’s the official announcement:

The Last Airbender live-action series will have Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), and Dallas Liu (Zuko). No news has been revealed about any other cast members like Uncle Iroh or Princess Azula, but hopefully the show will manage to find the right people for the role.

Though Konietzko and DiMartino may be gone from the series, the show has found a new showrunner in the form of Albert Kim (Sleeping Hollow, Deadly Class) who writes:

This is all my daughter’s fault. She’s the one who got me hooked… I began watching along with her with the thought of helping her understand what was going on…

Flash forward 15 years. Netflix offers me the opportunity to develop a live-action remake of Avatar. My first thought was, “Why? What is there I could do or say with the story that wasn’t done or said in the original?”

…But the more I thought about it, the more intrigued I became… a live-action version would establish a new benchmark in representation and bring in a whole new generation of fans. This was a chance to showcase Asian and Indigenous characters as living, breathing people. Not just in a cartoon, but in a world that truly exists, very similar to the one we live in.

Of course, there are still some fans who have opted to boycott the show after the original Avatar creators left, but as long as there are earnest creative behind it, I think a live-action Airbender could still be pulled off.

As of now, no release date has been set for Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender.
