The movie is set to come out next week, and we have a new trailer showcasing Universal’s upcoming mini-monster. Check this out:

Children can be such monsters.

After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.

It’s worth noting that the movie is being directed by Radio Silence—a team of two directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet—the same people behind Ready or Not and the last two Scream films. The film also has a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton, Dan Stevens, and the late Euphoria star Angus Cloud.

Not to mention the titular Abigail is also played by Alisha Weir, who was the star of Netflix’s recent musical Matilda reboot.

If you’ve seen Ready or Not or any of the last scream films, you’ll know that Radio Silence has a penchant for bringing together horror and comedy. While we should expect some actual frights, you can get caught off-guard whenever somebody says something hilarious. Abigail should be no exception to their signature style.

Abigail is set to hit theatres on April 19.

HBO Head Updates on 3rd Season of Euphoria https://www.geekfeed.com/hbo-head-updates-on-3rd-season-of-euphoria/ Mon, 22 Jan 2024 09:59:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80668 Sam Levinson may have gotten a lot of flak for The Idol, but it doesn’t seem that HBO is done with him yet. After all, he is behind one of Max’s biggest shows, Euphoria, and we just got an update on the third season.

Talking to The Wrap, HBO CEO Casey Bloys shares an update on where Euphoria 3, and where it is in terms of development. Bloys explains:

“We’ll see how it goes. He’s writing Season 3 right now, [Sam Levinson’s] in the thick of it. So I don’t know that he is laying out what the future looks like. It’s just getting Season 3 done… I haven’t had a specific conversation with him about is this the end or what does it look like.”

We don’t know where the third season is going to go exactly, as each character seems to just be having their own drama regardless of what the other characters are up to. We know that Rue (Zendaya) is struggling with sobriety, and we see her kind of make amends with Jules (Hunter Schafer).

On the other hand, Nate (Jacob Elordi) has his father taken in by the police, and we see more drama brewing with Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Maddy (Alexa Demie). Probably the biggest loss was that of Ashtray (Javon Walton) who dies in a shootout with the cops as they try to arrest Fezco (Angus Cloud); though fans would have loved to see where Fez would be in the next season, the loss of Cloud last year will definitely have to be addressed.

For now, it does seem that Levinson is currently at a low when it comes to his online reputation, but if Euphoria 3 manages to impress, I can imagine him staying on for even longer.

No release date has been set for the third season of Euphoria.

Abigail Trailer: Move Over M3GAN, A New Tiny Movie Monster is Here https://www.geekfeed.com/abigail-trailer-a-new-tiny-movie-monster-is-here/ Tue, 16 Jan 2024 15:33:47 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=80590 Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) is the directing team behind Ready or Not and the last two Scream films, and they have one new horror movie that puts a twist on the classic genre.

Check out the trailer for Abigail starring Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Clous, and Alisha Weir:

The official description of the story reads:

Children can be such monsters.

After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.

If you’ve watched anything from Radio Silence before, you’ll know that they usually put an interesting twist to any established genre, and it looks like they’re going to be poking fun at vampires now. Though a lot of Abigail does seem pretty horrific, we can see some of the comedy elements actually shine a little in some of the dialogue.

I guess it’s just odd to watch the girl from Netflix’s Matilda actually be a killer vampire now. With her being all catty and loving to dance, I have a feeling that Abigail is going to be the next gay horror icon besides M3GAN.

Catch Abigail when it comes into theaters this April 19.

Euphoria Star Angus Cloud has Passed Away at 25 https://www.geekfeed.com/euphoria-star-angus-cloud-has-passed-away-at-25/ Sun, 06 Aug 2023 16:38:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=78065 Fans of HBO’s Euphoria have patiently been waiting for the third season, but it looks like one star won’t be appearing anymore.

Variety reports that Angus Cloud, who played Rue’s drug dealer Fez has passed away at the age of 25. A cause of death has not been released, but Cloud’s family did come out with a statement:

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today… As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.  Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

Though Fez is mostly a supporting character in Euphoria, he had found himself in the spotlight in the last season’s finale when his adopted brother Ashtray died in a gunfight with policemen. We don’t know where his character was going to go in the third season, but Cloud did share excitement for returning to the show. He told E!, “I can’t wait to get back to work with everyone… I feel like it’s been way too long. I just can’t wait to see everyone and working on set again.”

For now, tributes are going out to Cloud, with a lot of fans devastated that he would die at such a young age. We don’t know how the show will handle his loss, but the series has definitely lost a fan-favorite.

No release date has been announced for Euphoria 3, but you can catch Cloud in the first two seasons now streaming on Max.

Zendaya Stars in New Trailer for Euphoria S02 https://www.geekfeed.com/zendaya-stars-in-new-trailer-for-euphoria-s02/ Tue, 28 Dec 2021 04:56:37 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=63097 Spider-Man: No Way Home may have a lot of fans excited for Zendaya’s MJ on the big screen, but her more adult take on a high-schooler, Rue Bennet, is set to come back with all her dysfunctional friends in the second season of HBO’s Euphoria. We just got a new trailer, and it’s confirmed for a release this early January.

Check out the trailer for Euphoria season 2 down here:

We don’t have a synopsis for the second season, but it looks like Rue will be once again struggling with her drug addiction. Besides that, Rue also has to navigate the drama of her social circles; and her friends are all going through their own problems as well.

Besides the returning characters, the preview also seems to give us an idea of the music in the series. While the drama itself is interesting, Euphoria also stands out with its electronic, R&B soundtrack, which really adds a lot to its overall feel. You really have to hand it to series composer Labrinth; top it off with some trippy visuals, and you have what I personally consider “the thinking person’s Riverdale.

Jokes aside, Euphoria is the more artsy take on puberty and coming of age, and despite the target demographic, the show doesn’t seem to be talking down to its audience. If you want a more upbeat, positive take on modern puberty though, I suggest you go over to Netflix and check out Sex Education.

Catch Euphoria when it hits HBO Max on Jan. 09, 2022.
