Here’s the first trailer for Dream Productions starring Paula Pell (Girls5eva) and Richard Ayoade (The Mandalorian):

Here’s the official description:

Taking place in between the events of “Inside Out” and “Inside Out 2” is Pixar Animation Studios’ “Dream Productions,” an all-new series about the studio inside Riley’s mind where dreams really do come true—every night, on time and on budget. Riley is growing up and when her memories need some extra processing, Joy and the rest of the Core Emotions send them to Dream Productions. Acclaimed director Paula Persimmon (voice of Paula Pell) faces a nightmare of her own: Trying to create the next hit dream after being paired up with Xeni (voice of Richard Ayoade), a smug daydream director looking to step up into the big leagues of night dreams.

The series takes place before the events of Inside Out 2, and the cast of the movie is also set to reprise their roles as the core emotions of Riley in this show.

I have to say with shows like The Franchise and The Studio, this is the third movie to be a meta-series about filmmaking, complete with the clashing creatives and a writer’s room for dreams. It feels like they have a chance to flesh out more of Riley’s mind, but the film lover in me is just excited to see Pixar tackle a story about ‘filmmaking’ because it’s an art form about ‘making dreams come true’.

Dream Productions will only be a 4-episode limited series, and it comes to Disney+ on Dec. 11.

Watch: Parks and Recreation Reunion at the Agatha All Along Premiere https://www.geekfeed.com/parks-and-recreation-reunion-agatha-all-along/ Fri, 20 Sep 2024 10:01:28 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84346 Agatha All Along comes out this week, and it does feature a small Parks and Recreation reunion for Kathryn Hahn (Jennifer Barkley) and Aubrey Plaza (April Ludgate). What’s fun is, the premiere of the series actually featured some more Parks cast reuniting.

Check out Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope) and Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt) meeting up with Hahn and Plaza at the red (rather purple) carpet:

Admittedly, Hahn was more of a recurring character on the series, but the main cast members were able to get a photo of just the three of them:

When it comes to the four cast members, it is worth noting that Plaza has spent her time the longest with Marvel, as she had been cast in FX’s Legion series even way before the Fox merger. Hahn has been onboard since WandaVision, and Scott was cast as Ben Parker (not officially) in Sony’s Madame Web.

Let’s also not forget that one of Marvel’s biggest stars, Chris Pratt, was in Parks and Recreation as the loveable idiot Andy Dwyer before he became Star-Lord:

So far, Poehler is the only one in the mini-reunion who hasn’t jumped the Marvel ship, but she’s doing pretty well being the voice of Joy in Pixar’s hit franchise Inside Out. I wouldn’t mind if they cast her as a Captain Marvel variant because she can definitely be Brie Larson’s older sister.

For now, fans are waiting to see just how Agatha All Along pans out. It definitely is embracing its camp and attuning to its intended audience, but there’s always a chance some ‘anti-woke’ fans will review-bomb it to hell.

Let’s hope the gays won’t let that happen.

Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ this week.

Riley Gets More Complex Emotions in Latest Trailer for Inside Out 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/emotions-return-in-latest-trailer-inside-out-2/ Mon, 11 Mar 2024 16:30:00 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81424 Disney Pixar’s Inside Out had ended with a tease for Riley hitting puberty, and now it looks like she’s ready for a batch of all-new emotions in the upcoming Inside Out 2.

Disney Pixar has just released a new trailer, and it should get everyone excited for the film’s release this June. Check this out:

Here’s the official description for the story:

Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone

It’s funny that Joy and the other core emotions should get supressed in this sequel, since the first movie had Joy trying her best to surpess sadness in Riley’s life. With all of Riley’s emotions running smoothly though, it would make sense that someone like Anxiety should come in and start controlling everything—like it does with everyone on a daily basis.

Director Kelsey Mann had this to say about the new ‘antagonist’ of the show, “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat… That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”

Inside Out may not have been perfect, but I do hope that the sequel does manage to expand on the whole world of Riley’s mind rather than introduce a bunch of messy plotholes. Well, if Big Mouth can pull it off, I’m sure the heads at Pixar can do the same thing with a kid-friendly take.

Catch Inside Out 2 when it comes to cinemas on June 14.

Riley Gets New Emotions in First Teaser for Inside Out 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/new-emotions-in-first-teaser-for-inside-out-2/ Tue, 14 Nov 2023 16:14:12 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=79567 Disney Pixar’s Inside Out was a solid standalone movie, but they did leave the teaser for Riley hitting puberty near the end of the film. Now the time has come, and Riley is set to have a whole new bunch of emotions and feelings in Inside Out 2.

Meet Anxiety (Maya Hawke) in the first teaser:

Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

Besides Hawke joining the cast as a new emotion, two original cast members from the first film won’t be returning. Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader have passed, so now Liza Lapira is voicing Disgust, and Tony Hale will be the voice of Fear.

We don’t know what other emotions the film is going to introduce, but Anxiety did say that she came along with a bunch of other people.

With the first Inside Out already being very tricky with the way Riley’s mind works, I wonder how they’ll be able to expand on it when it comes to this sequel; after all there were already a lot of plotholes when it came to the first movie.

If anything, you can always expect a Pixar project to take great care when it comes to the writing, and though Inside Out 2 may have a lot of pressure to succeed, I’m just happy to see the cast of Riley’s head back on the big screen.

Inside Out 2 comes to theaters June 2024.

Nadia is a ‘Time Prisoner’ in Trailer for Russian Doll S02 https://www.geekfeed.com/nadia-is-a-time-prisoner-in-trailer-for-russian-doll-s02/ Tue, 12 Apr 2022 01:24:09 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64789 Russian Doll came out back in 2019, and audiences were enamoured by Natasha Lyonne’s highly cynical Nadia. While the first season already felt pretty self-contained, it looks like Nadia is going to be undergoing some more time-travel shenanigans with a second season. It’s set to premiere later this month, and we have a full trailer giving us a look at the show.

Check the trailer for Russian Doll season 2 down here:

Set four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaped mortality’s time loop together, season two of Russian Doll will continue to explore existential thematics through an often humorous and sci-fi lens. Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations. At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.

While we know that it’s Nadia that ends up in the time loop, it looks like she’s brought a lot more of the familiar characters from the first season. Even if that was the case, we should always remember that the main stars of the show have always been Nadia and Alan (Charlie Barnett), and it’s curious what ‘the universe’ has planned for them this time.

Though the first season followed a Groundhog Day format with Nadia repeating the same day, the second season has decided to go the classic time-travel route and have Nadia actually travel to the past. We don’t know exactly how she finds herself trapped this time, but it’s going to be fun to watch her brush it all off with her signature outlook and wit.

Catch Russian Doll 2 which premieres on Netflix on April 20.

Russian Doll Season 2 Announced with New Teaser https://www.geekfeed.com/russian-doll-season-2-announced-with-new-teaser/ Wed, 09 Mar 2022 00:42:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=64368 Russian Doll came out back in 2019, and though the first season was already pretty self-contained, Netflix is set to come back to Nadia’s world with an announcement for the premiere of Season 2.

Watch the new teaser for Russian Doll season 2 down here:

We don’t have any synopsis or plot for the second season, but it does come with the tagline:The universe is back on its bulls@%t.”

Natasha Lyonne will be coming back as her character Nadia, and we can only expect Charlie Barnett to return as Alan as well. With the connection between the two being so integral in the first season, it would make sense that we would only follow them and watch their struggle to become better people.

Admittedly, the first season of Russian Doll does leave a lot of audience members scratching their heads, and there’s a lot of wibbly wobbly, timey-whimey stuff that adds to the uniqueness of Russian Doll’s overall story.

We don’t know where the second season could go, but seeing as how the big mystery of how Nadia was found in the loop was the driving force for Season One, we should expect some kind of magic-realism to occur with Nadia once again. Based on what we see in the trailer, it could have something to do with the train, but maybe we get a preview soon that gives us a better look at where the story is going to proceed for Season 2.

It’s just so curious how a cynical programmer lady keeps finding herself in these existential shenanigans.

The second sseason of Russian Doll hits Netflix on April 20.
