That all changed though with the success of properties like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Last of Us.

Now Amazon is looking to adapt God of War with Battlestar Galactica  showrunner Ron Moore, and he confirms that Amazon was so confident in the project, that they already greenlit two seasons.

In a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff during her podcast, Moore explains, “Right now I’m working on an adaptation of this video game called God of War. It’s a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of. And They’ve asked me to come in, so I’m literally in the writer’s room working on that. That’s my new thing.”

Moore didn’t reveal any more details about the series, but it is said to be an adaptation of the more recent games which introduces Kratos’ son Atreus. Before that, the God of War games were mostly fantastical revenge stories where Kratos goes up against the Greek pantheon of gods only to have him murder each one in brutal fashion.

The reboot directed by Cory Barlog is considered to be a maturing of the series which actually explores Kratos’ personal relationship with his son. Even if that is the case, there’s still a lot of room for the series to explore Kratos more gruesome past.

It would be hilarious if the flashbacks were the exact same ones from the PS2 cutscenes, but someone will probably make that edit when the series officially releases.

No release date has been set for the God of War series, but watch out for it on Amazon Prime Video.

Jack Quaid Shares New Image of Himself from The Boys Season 5 https://www.geekfeed.com/quaid-shares-new-image-from-the-boys-season-5/ Sat, 22 Feb 2025 05:34:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86598 The finale of The Boys Season 4 had left everyone’s fate up in the air, and while we don’t have an official look at the final season yet, star Jack Quaid (Hughie) has given fans a look.

He posted this on his IG:

A post shared by Jack Quaid (@jack_quaid)

While Hughie being covered in blood seems to be normal for every season of the series, this is the first time we’re seeing Hughie with the full beard and moustache. It’s possible that this could be a disguise for him, but seeing that he spent the finale getting arrested, it’s possible that Hughie (along with other members of the team) has been spending months in a prison somewhere.

Besides the blood, it actually seems that Hughie is a bit more cleaned up than dishevelled, so maybe he’s being treated humanely. The show being what it is though, it’s very likely that Hughie is going to be put through the wringer again.

As for the rest of the team, MM and Frenchie have all been apprehended, but Starlight was able to escape—possibly going off to rendezvous with Maeve, who is in hiding. There’s also the case of Butcher, who is somewhat alive, but has turned into some kind of evil supe on his own. The series has been hinting at the death of Butcher for a while now, and fans are just hoping he goes off taking Homelander down with him.

No specific release date has been announced for The Boys Season 5, but fans are expecting it to come out sometime in 2026.

LOTR: Season 3 of The Rings of Power Officially Moving Forward https://www.geekfeed.com/lotr-season-3-of-the-rings-of-power-greenlit/ Mon, 17 Feb 2025 11:11:41 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86503 Amazon had us worried there for a second, but they’ve just officially announced the third season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and they’ve revealed where the series will start after the ending of Season 2.

Here’s the official post:

This synopsis does away with any more speculation as to when the One Ring is going to be crafted in the series. With the first season dealing with the making of the Elven rings and the second dealing with the ones made for dwarves; it was speculated that Season 3 was going to focus on the corruption of Men with their Rings. Now we can confirm that indeed can happen, and we’ll also be seeing the One Ring finally forged.

At best we know that the showrunners are looking to finish five seasons, but since it took a while to confirm the third season, some fans had feared for the worst.

Either way, it does seem like Amazon is committed to having this series properly finished. I’m just hoping they lock in on the planned seasons now instead of having the fans wait on the edge of their seat on whether the show has been cancelled or not.

We don’t know what else the time jump could entail, but hopefully we find Gandalf finally joining up with Elrond and Galadriel after he discovers who he is. Who knows, maybe there’s some adventure in there for pre-evil Saruman?

I honestly just want to see Harfoots again—or maybe this time they’ll have already turned into their signature Hobbit folk.

No release date has been set for LOTR: The Rings of Power Season 3.

Kumail Nanjiani has Allegedly been Cast in Fallout https://www.geekfeed.com/nanjiani-has-allegedly-been-cast-in-fallout/ Tue, 28 Jan 2025 13:12:29 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=86258 Fallout from Amazon Prime Video has managed to have a lot of great guest stars from Matt Berry to Chris Parnell, and with the second season incoming, it looks like one Silicon Valley star could be joining the ranks of Lucy and the Ghoul.

According to The InSneider (via @DiscussingFilm), Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals) has been cast in the second season of Fallout. No details have been revealed about who he could be playing, but Nanjiani has been very open about working on so-called ‘nerdy’ properties. He worked on the Shadow of Mordor franchise, and he was also a supporting character in the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries.

If Nanjiani is playing anyone is Fallout, it’s very possible that it’s going to be a comedic character. I mean, he did deliver a serious take with the true crime drama Welcome to Chippendales, but Nanjiani’s real strength is in comedy—not just his Marvel Studios-mandated muscles.

As for Fallout, the second season teases that we could see the story going to New Vegas. After all, it’s been revealed that Lucy’s dad Hank is the actual villain of the story, and he’s been in cahoots with all the rich people who were behind the nuclear war. Now Lucy and the Ghoul are teaming up to catch him; but at the same time the conspiracy continues to build for Vault 33, which is revealed to be right next to the vault storing all of the people that Hank was working with.

The lore is rich and the humor is great, and I can’t wait to get back to the world of Fallout maybe sometime next year.

Keanu Reeves was Nursing an Injury While Shooting Secret Level https://www.geekfeed.com/reeves-injury-while-shooting-secret-level/ Sun, 05 Jan 2025 10:50:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85913 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 isn’t the only video game property Keanu Reeves worked on this year. He also had an appearance in Amazon’s Secret Level series, but what fans don’t know is that he was actually nursing an injury while shooting his episode.

According to series director Dave Wilson and creator Tim Miller, Reeves apparently ‘lived to the hype’ and toughed out all of his scenes for his Armored Core episode while he had injured his kneecap. In a recent interview with Collider, Wilson explained:

So, two weeks before filming, we get this email, and it’s like, “Dave, Tim, I got some bad news. I’ve fractured my kneecap,” and, and, blah, blah, blah. I’m skimming to the bottom of the email where he’s going to tell me he can’t do it, and he’s like, “But I’ve learned all my lines. I’m off book. I can take the brace off, and I can shoot for five minutes at a time…” And I was like, “Oh my God, he’s still going to do it.” And so I’m like, “Don’t worry about it. Keep the brace on. We’ll give your character a limp and a brace.”

While they were expecting to have Reeves shoot his part for a couple of days, Reeves apparently requested that they finish everything at that point, and he shot for 13 hours straight. Wilson continues:

… two hours in, I can tell it’s hurting, man. It’s very recent, and his knee’s about the size of Tim’s head. About two hours in, he’s like, “Dave.” And I’m like, “Do you want to come back tomorrow?” He’s like, “Let’s just shoot it all now.” And I’m like, “What?” And he shot for 13 hours straight with that brace, and he doesn’t leave set. He just nips out, has a cigarette, comes back in, and he’s like, “Let’s go again!”

We don’t know if Reeves would be willing to come back for another season of Secret Level, but so far, he’s been down to work on all kinds of video game properties. Besides Sonic, he’s also the face of the Cyberpunk 2077 game with his character Johnny Silverhand.

Admittedly, Secret Level didn’t earn the same level of acclaim as Love, Death and Robots, and a lot of criticism was aimed at the show being more action-focused—whereas LDR had a good mix of all kinds of genres. The good news is, a second season has already been greenlit, so Miller and his team can work on bringing more into the show that they haven’t done before.

A Second Season of Secret Level has been Greenlit https://www.geekfeed.com/a-second-season-of-secret-level-has-been-greenlit/ Thu, 19 Dec 2024 18:43:13 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85708 We may not be getting a new season of Love, Death, and Robots soon, but Amazon Prime Video is delivering on the animated anthology series genre with Secret Level. The series just premiered on the streaming platform, and it looks like we’re going to be seeing more of it.

According to Variety, Secret Level has already been renewed by Amazon for a second season. No new details have been revealed, but it is said that the show has managed to become the most-watched animated series debut on the platform. The series was apparently able to gather 155.3 million minutes watched in the US alone.

Though Love, Death and Robots was successful on its own, Secret Level has a major advantage in that every short is based on an existing IP, whether it be Warhammer, Pac-Man, or Dungeons and Dragons. A lot of fans have been asking for a Mega Man series for years and though it isn’t a full film, an entry in Secret Level is probably the next best thing.

Not to mention the series has also managed to gather a lot of great talent. Besides the likes of Temuera Morrison and Ariana Greenblatt (The Mandalorian, Ahsoka), the series also has some A-listers like Arnod Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, and Keanu Reeves.

We don’t know what the next season could bring, but hopefully we get some great entries from incoming and existing IP. A lot of fans want more Warhammer 40,000, but an entry from The Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077 would be great. How about that Overwatch short finally, or a Marvel Rivals episode?

Walton Goggins Marks the Start of Production for Fallout Season 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/start-of-production-for-fallout-season-2/ Fri, 06 Dec 2024 11:21:14 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=85525 A lot of fans were worried that Amazon didn’t have enough faith on the Fallout series when they released the whole season in one day; but the show ended up a huge hit, and everyone can’t wait for the next season.

While we barely have any official updates from Prime Video, series co-lead Walton Goggins (The Ghoul) has shared on his IG that the show is now back in production. Here’s his post:

The caption reads: “Back in the saddle… #Deux. Gatdamn it feels good to slip on this skin. I do this shit for the love of the Game.”

Though the Ghoul acts as a semi-antagonist for Lucy in the series, the finale had the two teaming up so they can hunt down her dad, who has fled to New Vegas. As for the third lead character Maximus, it’s implied that he’s finally gotten the respect of the Brotherhood of Steel, and he could be in a higher-up position come next season.

As far as video game adaptations go, Fallout was considered one of the best to come out in recent years. The series may not be as dark as The Last of Us, but it does embrace the ironic quirkiness of the original franchise. Though everyone is living in an apocalyptic wasteland, there’s still plenty of room for shenanigans and very twisted social experiments.

We can only hope the next season is going to be as great as the first.

No release date has been set for Fallout Season 2, but fans are hoping we get a premiere sometime later in 2026.

Final Season of Good Omens Drops Neil Gaiman https://www.geekfeed.com/final-season-of-good-omens-drops-neil-gaiman/ Tue, 29 Oct 2024 16:45:39 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84947 With recent adaptations of American Gods and Good Omens, it seemed that there was a Neil Gaiman renaissance—until there wasn’t. After recent sexual assault allegations brought up against the fantasy author, it looks like one of his shows is going to be pushing forward without him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third and final season of Good Omens is going to be dropping Gaiman and will hire someone else to take on his role as executive producer; it is worth noting that Gaiman did do some writing for the third season though.

Probably the biggest change besides Gaiman getting dropped is that instead of a full season, the show is only going to have one episode which will run for 90 minutes. Production is set to begin in Scotland early 2025.

The third season had been announced way back in December 2023, and had originally been released as a limited series. But after the positive reception of the first season, the series got a greenlight for a second one, and now fans are waiting on a third.

While the story can get a bit Doctor Who-ish for some, Good Omens’ shining light is the chemistry between both leads David Tennant and Michael Sheen who play a devil and angel respectively as they live throughout history and suddenly have to try and stop Armageddon. It has all of the Gaiman-isms one can expect from his kind of story, with fantasy characters interacting with all kinds of mythological creatures.

It’s certainly a shame that fans won’t get a full season, but at least the series is getting a chance to come up with a proper ending. Just look at what happened to Netflix’s GLOW.

Mike Flanagan to Adapt Stephen King’s Carrie into a TV Series https://www.geekfeed.com/mike-flanagan-to-adapt-carrie-into-a-tv-series/ Wed, 23 Oct 2024 09:26:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84890 Mike Flanagan is no stranger to adapting Stephen King’s works with projects like Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, but now it looks like he’s ready to adapt one of King’s most infamous stories for Amazon Prime Video.

According to Deadline, Flanagan will be adapting Stephen King’s Carrie as an eight-episode series for Amazon. No further details have been revealed about the adaptation other than that it will be a “bold and timely reimagining”.

The original Carrie book by Stephen King was published back in 1974 and told the story of a young girl with psychic powers who has relentlessly bullied in school; what’s worse is, back home, she was also being abused by her overly religious mother.

The book was adapted by Brian De Palma into a movie in 1976 and is considered to be a horror classic; it even managed to spawn a sequel. A remake was also made in 2013 with actress Chloe Grace Moretz taking on the lead role.

With Flanagan at the helm, fans can only imagine that the series is going to have all these kinds of monologues explaining the theme of the show; but some do say that this adaptation should have a plus-sized actress in the role because one of the main reasons Carrie was bullied in the books was because she was heavyset.

https://twitter.com/rowina_blx/status/1848479486796353960

At this point, I don’t know how a Carrie series can be made without spoiling or changing the ending, but I think the themes are still pretty relevant, and I’m open to see how they’ll expand the story.

No release date has been announced for Flanagan’s Carrie series.

“There’s No Debate” on Whether LOTR: The Rings of Power will Continue https://www.geekfeed.com/lotr-the-rings-of-power-will-continue/ Wed, 16 Oct 2024 18:18:43 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84754 Everyone is still waiting for the official greenlight for the next season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and while some fans have been raving about the show, there is a chunk of the fandom that is trying to pull a Star Wars and be negative about the series—praying for its cancellation.

The good news is, it looks like Prime Video’s LOTR is here to stay—at least for the meantime.

In an interview with Variety, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke confirmed that “there’s no debate” on whether the series will continue. She says:

“Over 55 million people at this point have engaged since Season 2 launched. And if you look at the long-term trajectory, which is how this company looks at an asset like that, this is a long-term investment in that franchise […] There’s well over 150 million viewers watching and engaging with the show. So I feel really good. I think we all do.”

As far as we know, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were said to have an original plan for the series to last for about 5 seasons. Starting with the formation of the rings, then eventually building up to the War of the Last Alliance—the war that begins the Lord of the Rings trilogy where Sauron is defeated by Isildur.

While some have pointed out that the US market may not have the kind of numbers expected, the global market has been very positive about Rings of Power, and has already contributed to millions of minutes viewed. The statement continues:

“We’ll continue to make the show as long as we see global customers loving it and watching it to the point where — it is a business. Obviously, we need a large amount of people showing up. And there are a large amount of people.”

With such a high production value that’s evident with each episode, a lot of fans have been worried about Rings of Power being able to keep the quality at a certain point. If anything, the series looks amazing, but fans are starting to tire of having to wait two or more years before the following season comes out.

How has Abbott Elementary managed to release one season per year? It’s insane when you put it next to shows like House of the Dragon that need a lot of time to gestate.

For now, the complete two seasons of LOTR: The Rings of Power are now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

LOTR: Rings of Power Showrunner on Sauron Eventually Forging the One Ring https://www.geekfeed.com/lotr-sauron-eventually-forging-the-one-ring/ Wed, 25 Sep 2024 11:02:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84467 Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is definitely taking its time when it comes to the forging of the rings, but everyone is waiting on the eventual forging of Sauron’s “One Ring” which will be central to the plot of The Lord of the Rings.

Though the forging of the One isn’t hinted at in the series yet, showrunner Patrick McKay talks a bit about Sauron’s current state in the show and his reliance on Celebrimbor. He tells IGN, “I think we can only reflect on what the show has shown us so far, which is that Sauron needs Celebrimbor. So how does Sauron then forge a ring on his own? That’s a big question worthy of lots of dramatic exploration.”

Some fans are speculating that this means that Sauron will have to make a huge sacrifice to create the One Ring. After all, it was said that he had poured his entirety into the One Ring, and that’s why it was so powerful.

Just seeing how the forging of the Rings is also affecting Celebrimbor, it does look like he will completely lose himself once the Nine Rings for Men have been completed. While everyone who has read the books is already sure as to what Celebrimbor’s fate is going to be by the end of the season, McKay does hint that he could have some kind of win over Sauron in the end, with him saying, “How is [Celebrimbor] going to get out of this and find some kind of victory even in defeat… For us, it’s showing the off-ramps and the things that could have gone a different way and then taking it away… If only this had happened, then that could happen, and this could happen, that could happen. And playing with those what-ifs can drive a person crazy.”

So far, it looks like the Lord of Eregion is still under the grasp of Sauron. With two episodes left, hopefully Celebrimbor gets a satisfying arc, despite what fans know about his fate.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage are Criminal Twins in Trailer for Brothers https://www.geekfeed.com/brolin-dinklage-twins-in-trailer-for-brothers/ Fri, 20 Sep 2024 15:58:56 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84371 Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage may have always found themselves in opposite ends of the Marvel spectrum—Thanos and Eitri, Cable and Bolivar Trask—but the two are now teaming up for an upcoming crime comedy called Brothers.

Here’s the trailer:

The official synopsis reads:

Brothers tells the story of a reformed criminal (Josh Brolin) whose attempt at going straight is derailed when he reunites with his sanity-testing twin brother (Peter Dinklage) on a cross-country road trip for the score of a lifetime. Dodging bullets, the law, and an overbearing mother along the way, they must heal their severed family bond before they end up killing each other.

Besides Dinklage and Brolin, the movie also includes performances from award winners Brendan Fraser, Marisa Tomei, and Glenn Close. The movie is also directed by Max Barbakow, who had done some fantastic work with the subverting of the Groundhog Day genre with Palm Springs.

I have to admit, Brolin has been kind of stereotyped into these hyper-serious grump characters, so it’s great to see him actually play against type and be the ‘stupid muscle’ of a crime duo. As for Dinklage, he hasn’t landed anything as big as Tyrion Lannister since Game of Thrones ended, but he’s managed to stick to non-stereotypical roles for little people, and you love to see it.

With a great cast and an interesting director, Brothers is looking to be an interesting comedy coming out amid the Halloween season. I wonder if there’s going to be any reference to Twins starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.

Catch Brothers when it hits Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 17.

LOTR: Rings of Power Showrunner Welcomes Haters of the Fandom with Open Arms https://www.geekfeed.com/lotr-rings-of-power-showrunner-welcomes-haters/ Fri, 13 Sep 2024 08:17:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84285 If your big fantasy IP can be enjoyed by middle-aged white men, there are chances that it has a toxic side of its fandom online which hates anything ‘woke’ or progressive. The same holds true for Star Wars and comic book movies, and it’s also true for the Lord of the Rings fandom.

Rings of Power had been met with aggressively negative ‘fans’ online who have started attacking the show for ‘wokeness’ ever since it was announced that Galadriel was the lead, but showrunner J.D. Payne is actually fine with the haters and is actually ‘happy’ that they’re writing about the show.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter Payne explains:

“… When we see that millions of people are watching this and responding so positively to it — that’s who we’re fighting for. And those who watch every episode and [negatively] write about it on social media and make YouTube videos, we’re happy to have you guys, too. It wouldn’t be a journey through Middle-earth without some trolls along the way.”

Admittedly, what fans of the show are worried about is that the negativity surrounding the series will push people away from checking out Rings of Power, and that could lead to the series’ cancellation before the story gets completed.

With Rings of Power though, it’s said that Amazon is committed to delivering five planned seasons for the show. It does help that a rumor suggests that Jeff Bezos is a Lord of the Rings fan, which means TROP is going to have a budget regardless of what the audience numbers are going to be.

Despite negative fans, there have also been some positive buzz around the show, and this would probably find its way soon to the audience that Rings of Power is looking to grow. Personally I love the series, and I think every character in it, new and familiar, is fantastic and really captures the vibe of the original Peter Jackson movies.

Amazon is Committed to Finishing 5 Seasons of LOTR: The Rings of Power https://www.geekfeed.com/amazon-5-seasons-of-lotr-the-rings-of-power/ Thu, 12 Sep 2024 20:21:40 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84259 Toxic fandoms are kind of expected with any huge IP, and The Lord of the Rings is not safe; especially after The Rings of Power dropped an Amazon.

Despite the supposed ‘terrible’ series getting constantly bashed online, it does seem that Amazon is set on completing the story that the series is trying to tell. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third season for Rings of Power has been in development for a while, and Amazon is apparently remaining ‘committed to the show’s original five-season plan.’

It’s not exactly clear what we should expect from all five seasons, but fans have guessed that each season of the show is going to focus on the creation of specific Rings of Power. The first season was for the elven rings, then this second will be on the seven made for the dwarves,  the third will be for the nine forged for men, the fourth could be focused on the forging of just the One Ring, and the final season could build up to the war where Sauron is defeated.

Admittedly, it has been confirmed in a trailer that Sauron demands for ‘The Nine’ which fans can only assume are the Rings, but there will have to be a story about how he manipulates these rings into the hands of Men, and we should also expect to watch them all get slowly corrupted.

Despite the active negativity online, Rings of Power has been getting positive buzz here and there. The series definitely does its homework when it comes to Tolkien, and treatment for characters like Tom Bombadil have been praised online.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

The Legend of Vox Machina Returns in Trailer for 3rd Season https://www.geekfeed.com/the-legend-of-vox-machina-returns-for-3rd-season/ Sat, 31 Aug 2024 18:37:07 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=84040 Amazon Prime Video may be spending the whole of August just hyping up the premiere of LOTR: The Rings of Power, but they’ve also dropped a new preview for another one of their fantasy series.

Check out the trailer for the third season of The Legend of Vox Machina:

Here’s the official description for Season 3:

Everything is at stake in the long-awaited Season Three of The Legend of Vox Machina. The Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction spreads like wildfire while the Cinder King hunts down Vox Machina. Our lovable band of misfits must rise above inner (and outer) demons to try and save their loved ones, Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria.

Seasons of Vox Machina usually released around January, but the third season had been pushed back to October this year. Though a lot of the characters do seem to look the same, there seems to be some changes when it comes to the overall look of some characters.

Grog particularly looks different this season thanks to his beard. While his kind is mostly hairless, it was his donning of the Belt of Dwarvenkind in the second season that gave Grog facial hair, and it looks like he’s keeping the look for the new season. Now he just looks like a Kratos from the new God of War games.

With Lord of the Rings more on the cleaner side of things, Vox Machina is a show that lets Amazon play around in the R-rated fantasy genre. It’s no House of the Dragon when it comes to intrigue and scandal, but the show is probably the best representation of a modern D&D campaign.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Oct. 3.

Love, Death, and Robots Meets Popular Gaming IP in Teaser for Secret Level https://www.geekfeed.com/love-death-and-robots-in-teaser-for-secret-level/ Fri, 23 Aug 2024 10:48:51 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83884 Multiple gaming franchises have been trying to get off the ground, but not every popular game can make the transition to movies or television easily. Luckily for Amazon Prime Video, they’ve found an interesting compromise.

Check out the first teaser for Secret Level which promises to bring Love, Death, and Robots’ animated anthology format and cross it over with popular IP like God of War, Mega Man, and Warhammer 40,0000:

Here’s the official description:

SECRET LEVEL is a new adult-animated anthology series featuring original stories set within the worlds of some of the most beloved video games. From the creative minds behind LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS, each of the 15 episodes is a celebration of games and gamers. Games that inspired the 15 epic stories include Armored Core, Concord, Crossfire, Dungeons & Dragons, Exodus, Honor of Kings, Mega Man, New World: Aeternum, PAC-MAN, various PlayStation Studios games, Sifu, Spelunky, The Outer Worlds, Unreal Tournament and Warhammer 40,000.

With LDR already looking like an avenue to publish cinematics for cancelled games, Secret Level does sound like the perfect idea for adapting certain gaming IP. Not everyone can get the greenlight like Fallout or The Last of Us did, but maybe it would be easier to get approval for a 15-minute animated short.

Though there is the promise of shorts that would cover more popular IP like Mega Man and ‘various PlayStation Studios games’, I’m more excited to get shorts based on more obscure IP like the Armored Core franchise and Sifu.

With the success of Love, Death, and Robots, it would be great to see just what titles can make it to Secret Level in the future.

Watch out for Secret Level when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Dec. 10.

Galadriel and Adar Team-Up in Latest Trailer for LOTR: The Rings of Power Season 2 https://www.geekfeed.com/latest-trailer-for-rings-of-power-season-2/ Wed, 21 Aug 2024 09:08:01 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83797 Talk about unlikely alliances. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to premiere on Prime Video next week, and they’re not holding back when it comes to the marketing.

Just in, they’ve dropped a new trailer that gives a good idea of what to expect this season, and fans were surprised to see a team-up between Galadriel and the Father of Orcs, Adar. Check this out:

Though Galadriel found herself almost killing Adar in the first season, her true enemy has always been Sauron; so it was natural for her and Adar to find a common adversary. With the orcs eventually working for Sauron by the time of Lord of the Rings, it’s likely Adar will meet a tragic end that would result in the orcs working for someone else.

Besides the two, the trailer also gives us a better look at the direct effects that the rings have on the races. We see that it’s already affecting King Durin in Khazad-dum, and it’s possible that we could see the fall of Moria around this time, what with the Balrog that was teased last season.

And while we see that the rings have also helped preserve the elves’ homes, we can also see the corruption that’s happening to the smith Celebrimbor, who was working directly with Annatar/Sauron.

While the show had its ass kicked by House of the Dragon in its first season, I am hoping that they manage to gain some more traction with Season 2. Despite the gatekeepers in the fandom, I think Rings of Power has a great set of new characters and is a great welcome back to Middle-earth.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 comes to Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 29.

Rings of Power Featurette: How Heavy Metal Became the Theme or Damrod the Troll https://www.geekfeed.com/rings-of-power-featurette-heavy-metal-theme/ Fri, 09 Aug 2024 11:23:26 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83716 Composer Bear McCreary is probably best known for his work on the God of War soundtrack, but Amazon was right to hire him to provide the music for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

With the second season comes new music, and a featurette has been released showcasing how McCreary and his team decided to bring heavy metal into the musical landscape of Rings of Power. Check this out:

Though the series has pretty much nailed the same kind of themes that Howard Shore had introduced with the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, McCreary just ups the ante by introducing some new musical elements himself—and heavy metal would have been the last thing on the list of music that went along with Lord of the Rings.

The featurette doesn’t give us the final sound for Damrod’s theme, but it’s going to be interesting to see him enter the battlefield for the first time. I feel like it’s going to be the same amount of hype Wonder Woman’s entrance in Batman v Superman was able to get thanks to the mood set by the theme as well.

The second season of TROP can’t come soon enough.

Here’s the official description:

Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.

New LOTR: Rings of Power Featurette Highlights the Creation of the Rings https://www.geekfeed.com/new-lotr-rings-of-power-featurette-highlights-the-creation-of-the-rings/ Wed, 31 Jul 2024 16:54:23 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83573 House of the Dragon is about to end, and Amazon is now ready to strike while the iron is hot for the next season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Reveals have been going steady for the show to hype up the August premiere, and we just got a new featurette highlighting the creation of the rings. Check this out:

With the first season ending with the creation of the elven rings, this featurette confirms that the dwarven rings will also be forged in this season.

I’ll admit, I’m kind of confused about Celembrimbor working with Sauron again since he got outed in the first season, but it looks like the elven blacksmith just doesn’t realize that this new ‘gift-giver’ wasn’t the same guy that screwed them over back in the first season.

With the first season of TROP having to compete with House of the Dragon when it came out, it was pretty smart for Amazon to actually wait out the second season of HOTD before premiering TROP 2. Despite the prestige of the LOTR franchise, it doesn’t manage to generate as much online buzz compared to the more scandalous plot points like a dragon princess getting seduced by her uncle.

After some time with the first season to rest, maybe more people are now ready to jump back into Middle-earth with the next season of Rings of Power.

Here’s the official description for Season 2 of TROP:

Soldier Boy’s Role Teased in the Final Season of The Boys https://www.geekfeed.com/soldier-boys-role-in-the-final-season-of-the-boys/ Tue, 30 Jul 2024 12:23:15 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=83541 Jensen Ackles Soldier Boy was one of the more memorable parts of The Boys Season 3, and while he was absent for the fourth season, his return for the final season has been confirmed. It’s not entirely clear what SB’s motives will be yet, but showrunner Eric Kripke gives a hint of how they’re going to use him next season.

Talking to GamesRadar, Kripke confirms:

“You know, what we realized was we really hadn’t explored the father-son relationship much between Homelander and Soldier Boy… There’s a lot of material there, how soldier boy feels about Homelander, how Homelander feels about his dad, and so we really wanted to dig into that relationship.”

With Homelander essentially messing up being a dad, it’s going to be interesting for him to have a father-figure this time around—and one that isn’t afraid of him at all.

Of course, there’s also the case of Soldier Boy now having beef with Butcher. Kripke continues, “Soldier Boy is really driven to kill Butcher after Butcher betrayed him in season 3… So he’s just an excellent antagonist, to switch sides and basically, you know, to be with the supes.”

With Kessler taking on Butcher’s body to be a supe killer, Soldier Boy could be going up against the wrong person; but some fans do believe that the real Butcher is still somewhere in there, and his final act will probably have him killing himself to get rid of Kessler once and for all.

As for Soldier Boy, it would be easy to see him take side with the supes, but the best thing about him is that he’s good for a laugh, and he doesn’t have the same filter that Homelander has when it comes to acting in public.

The Boys Season 5 is expected to come out around 2026 on Amazon Prime Video.
