We don’t know what the future holds for Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad in James Gunn’s DCU, but we are getting quite unique take on the IP from the creators at WIT Studio.
Here’s the announcement for Suicide Squad ISEKAI featuring a new anime design for Joker and Harley Quinn (plus Amanda Waller). Check this out:
The series logline reads:
Suicide Squad rampages into Japanese anime in SUICIDE SQUAD ISEKAI, an all-new original anime series collaboration with Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio!
The logline doesn’t give us much details about the story, but just from the word Isekai, anime fans can already tell that the series is going to be taking these modern DC characters and bringing them into an anime fantasy land filled with all kinds of creatures—and we can only imagine what kind of havoc someone like Harley can wreak on them.
So far, we only have a look at three characters, but hopefully WIT manages to reveal who else is going to be in this Suicide Squad roster. So far, the designs all look pretty unique, and I’m loving how Harley kind of harkens to 2022’s waifu of the year—Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Just in case you’re unfamiliar WIT Studio has brought us television series including Attack on Titan and more recently Spy x Family. The series is also directed by Eri Osada who has worked on Kobato. and The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat.
