Yesterday Kelly Marie Tran took the spotlight when she shared an essay of her speaking out since she quit Instagram earlier this year. A lot of fans have supported Tran, and now Star Wars: The Last Jedi co-star Mark Hamill has something to say about Tran coming out.
Hamill shares:
I said it before & I'll say it again: WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE? 😍
I love you, Loan… we don't deserve you & you ARE just getting started.#ReelLifeHeroRoseTico #RealLifeHeroKellyMarieTran https://t.co/wH7Hs4CQKT— Mark Hamill (@MarkHamill) August 21, 2018
Ever since the release of The Last Jedi, Tran had been receiving a lot of harassment from angry fans who didn’t like her character of Rose Tico. After months of negativity, she decided that the best way out was just to quit social media all-in-all.
Tran’s exit has become some type of double-edged sword to the fanbase. Though, we did lose her online, this lead to an uproar within the Star Wars community prompting everyone to try and smoke out the toxic fans who have contributed to Tran’s exit.
It’s worth noting that Tran isn’t the only one who has been getting all this hate. Daisy Ridley had also quit social media after The Force Awakens came out, and prequel actors Hayden Christensen, Jake Lloyd, and Ahmed Best have admittedly had ruined careers ever since they did Star Wars.
Hopefully the fanbase is headed the right direction moving forward, and hopefully actors like Tran and Ridley will once again try to reconnect with the fans that do like them on social media soon.
Catch Tran, Ridley, and Hamill in Star Wars Episode IX coming out Dec. 20, 2019.
