Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was one of the best-received games from last year, but everyone remembers that it was a buggy mess before launch. What’s interesting to know is that the devs were aware of the problems, but they still needed to make the release date.
When asked about any considerations for a delay, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella told US Gamer, “Yeah, it was a conversation that we had and we decided that we wanted the game out there, we wanted to get it, you know, being out for the holiday…It’s a game that really fits that timeframe.”
It’s worth pointing out that the Star Wars game brand was at an all-time low, seeing as Battlefront II had been so poorly received. Not to mention several other games had been delayed like The Last of Us Part II and Cyberpunk 2077.
Game director Stig Asmussen also had this to say:
“I think we’re in a situation [where] we’re trying to build a game for several different systems and we wanted to hit a date, obviously… [W]e all look at it, and earnestly we feel like we could, if we had a little bit more time, it would’ve been better. But at the same time, we could play through it. It was good and we felt like fans were going to like it.”
Though Fallen Order did have its problems, it was overall well-received by the fans. Personally, I’m just happy to have a fun Star Wars game. I don’t really mind if characters T-poser for a while before they get to fighting. Hopefully Respawn can now take its time to try and brush things up before the next release.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is now playable for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
