We’ve known for a while that Ewan McGregor will be back for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, but last week’s big reveal was that Anakin Skywalker Hayden Christensen will be part of the series too. Christensen talks a bit about his Star Wars return and what Kathleen Kennedy calls the ‘rematch of the century.’
Talking to StarWars.com, Christensen talks:
“It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker… Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”
Seeing as to how negative some fans were about Christensen when the Prequels came out, I’m very interested to know what Christensen really thinks about his Anakin Skywalker journey. Then again, the kids that have grown to love him in the role are the more vocal members of the fanbase now, and there’s nothing but love going toward the saga’s “Chosen One”.
We don’t know what the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will have specifically, but word has gone out that the series will tackle Vader trying to hunt down Obi-Wan as well as the other surviving Jedi. It will be interesting to watch both Vader and Kenobi’s journey mid trilogies, and I can’t wait to see one more lightsaber duel featuring the two.
No specific release date has been announced for Obi-Wan Kenobi, but the show is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2022.
