Star Wars: Dafnee Keen’s Character in the Acolyte is Inspired by David Bowie

Logan’s Dafne Keen had moved on from Marvel to star in HBO’s His Dark Materials, but she’s going to be re-entering the Disney umbrella in the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte.

We don’t have official details for her character yet, but Keen does tell Empire (via Den of Geek) that her character is ‘David Bowie meets Star Wars… I have a little mullet, I have horns, it’s cute.”

Keen’s look in the series is said to be inspired by one of the dancers in Jabba’s Palace, specifically the Theelin with the pale skin, red hair, and spots. I’m guessing the Bowie-inspired look is going to be a callback to Ziggy Stardust.

I’m already very excited to see what Keen’s character could look like. She managed to pull off some solid fight scenes in Logan, but she wasn’t really that fierce when it came to His Dark Materials; and with that series ending, she’s very much welcome to go to Star Wars and start showing off her lightsaber skills.

Though some fans are expecting Ahsoka to be another cameo-fest no unlike The Mandalorian, series like Andor give hope for fans who are more focused on watching Star Wars for new stories. Let’s hope showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is up to the challenge. Maybe we’ll get a trailer before the year ends, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

No specific release date has been announced for The Acolyte, but we should expect it to release on Disney+ sometime early 2024.
