We know that the second season of The Mandalorian is coming out this October, but people have their eyes set on another Star Wars series, Cassian Andor starring Rogue One’s Diego Luna. We don’t have any official confirmation of when the show is coming out, but Luna himself has confirmed that cameras will start rolling this year.
Talking to ET Online, Luna says, “We are doing it this year… It’s happening, and I’m getting ready for it.” He can’t really divulge anything that happens in the show, but he does say that he’s read some of the scripts and that he’s ‘really excited’ to be working on Star Wars again.
He continues:
“It is a different approach because of the beauty and it’s how things happen. It’s not just what happens. It’s not the typical way of approaching a story. It’s about how things happen, which in fact, is the same that happened in Rogue One… You know the ending, but you don’t know how it happened, and we have that challenge in front of us again, which is exciting.”
Besides Luna’s return, the series will also be bringing back Alan Tudyk to reprise the role of reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO. We don’t know how large his role in the film is, but I would love it if the series explored exactly how K-2 changed from being an Imperial droid to a Rebel ally.
With The Mandalorian focusing on the underground of Star Wars, I’m kind of excited to know more about the Rebel Alliance in Cassian Andor. Hopefully we get some great guest appearances from EU characters along the way.
No release date has been set for Cassian Andor, but you can catch The Mandalorian 2 on Disney+ this October.
