Sebastian Stan is no stranger to biopics having played Tommy Lee in Pam and Tommy and Tonya Harding’s ex in I, Tonya. Now he’s set to join the list of actors who have played Donald Trump onscreen, but this time, he’s going to be Young Trump.
Check out the trailer for The Apprentice:
Here’s the official description for the film:
A young Donald Trump (Sebastian Stan), eager to make his name as a hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today. Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé—someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win.
Admittedly, I was expecting Stan to sound different as a younger Trump, but it does feel like he’ll build up to the way he speaks by the end of the film after he’s influenced by Strong’s character Cohn.
Besides Cohn, the movie is also set to feature more of Trump’s family. Maria Bakalova (Borat, Bodies Bodies Bodies) is playing the part of Trump’s ex-wife Ivana Trump; and the movie will also feature Donald’s parents Fred Trump and Mary Anne Trump. Even Andy Warhol is expected to make an appearance in this film.
Though the premise does sound like a dramatic biopic, it does seem like The Apprentice is one of those more experimental movies in the same vein as I, Tonya. Hopefully this movie comes just in time for the US elections.
The Apprentice comes out in theaters on Oct. 11.
