Ever since the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer dropped, there have been thousands of analyses online looking for any Easter Eggs and references in the movie. One popular theory was that the trailer has Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil talking to Peter in police custody, and though it seemed plausible, the IMAX trailer for No Way Home has confirmed that it’s someone else.
As pointed out by @Crustrocket77 on Twitter, the increased aspect ratio of the trailer in IMAX has revealed the face of character Peter talks to, and sadly it isn’t Matt Murdock. Here’s the post:
Saw #Shangchi in imax and they played the #SpiderManNoWayHome trailer before and because of the increased aspect ratio I was able to see the face behind the arms and can confirm it is NOT Charlie Cox #Daredevil pic.twitter.com/5l9r8aOQQ0

Though it does come as a bummer for a lot of fans of Cox’s Daredevil, that doesn’t mean that he won’t be appearing in No Way Home. Matt could still pretty much arrive in a different scene in the film. With Marvel also being infamous for altering trailers to hide spoilers, it’s possible that this could be a double with the intention to replace the character during post. It’s not impossible.
Also, if it’s any consolation, there is still word going around that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will be making a comeback in Disney+’s upcoming Hawkeye series. Even if Cox doesn’t appear in No Way Home, there’s still hope for fans that characters from Marvel Netflix will find a way to the bigger MCU overall. I mean, if Raimi’s characters can come back, they can do the same with something more closely related like the Netflix shows.
Catch Spider-Man: No Way Home when it comes out in theaters on Dec. 17.
