Saturday Night Live may have premiered on October, but the show is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The three-hour special is set to broadcast on Feb. 16, and SNL has just announced their ridiculously star-studded cast.

Here’s the people announced in the teaser:
- Adam Driver
- Ayo Edebiri
- Dave Chappelle
- John Mulaney
- Martin Short
- Pedro Pascal
- Quinta Brunson
- Robert De Niro
- Sabrina Carpenter
- Scarlett Johansson
- Steve Martin
- Tom Hanks
The list includes a lot of former hosts for the series, and it’s possible that they were chosen for some of their skits being able to go viral including Adam Driver’s hit sketch with “Matt the Radar Technician” as well as Tom Hanks who has several memorable SNL skits.
No doubt, some people would be hoping for an appearance from some unannounced guests, but are otherwise iconic during their SNL run. Off the top of my head there’s Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, and Will Ferrell; but the series should probably bring in some of the OG cast members like Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, or Laraine Newman.
Maybe Conan O’Brien should also make an appearance. I mean, they’re trying to fill up 3 hours.
SNL has definitely changed over the course of its 50-year run, and while some think that the series is ruined, I think that it’s great that the show manages to keep bringing in new writers and voices and see what kind of humor they can draw from there. It’s not always been perfect, but it’s certainly an achievement when it comes to any long-lasting comedy show.
SNL 50 airs on Feb. 16.
