Simon Pegg Reveals His Character in Hogwarts Legacy

Simon Pegg had never been able to take part in any of the Harry Potter films, but he has somehow been cast in a secret role in the upcoming game Hogwarts Legacy.

Just in, we have the official reveal that Pegg is actually playing the part of the school’s headmaster at the time—Phineas Nigellus Black. Watch this:

Here’s the official description:

Join Simon Pegg as he takes us behind the scenes of Hogwarts Legacy and introduces the character he voices, the infamous Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black. Better known as the least popular headmaster Hogwarts ever had!

Though headmaster Black is considered an obscure character in the films, he actually had a more prominent role in the books, talking to Harry in Dumbledore’s office when he was learning about Horcruxes. It was actually Black who had revealed to Snape where Harry, Ron, and Hermoine were camping out; this allowing him to leave the sword of Gryffindor to them.

Since the character is mostly played for laughs at how silly being a racist to muggle-born wizards was, it’s kind of perfect that they cast Pegg in the role. Too bad we’ll never be able to see him perform it in live-action—but never say never.

With the Hogwarts headmaster character usually being portrayed as a noble mentor, I’m actually excited to meet one that’s a bit more silly and childish in the form of Phineas Nigellus Black.

Hogwarts Legacy is set to release for PS4, PC, and Xbox One on April 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 25.
