After Bob Chapek’s short run as Disney CEO, some fans were actually pleased to watch Bob Iger take over Disney again, but with the current strike from the WGA and SAG AFTRA, he’s somehow become another mascot for studio greed; outraging actors with his quote about the strikers being ‘unrealistic’ with their negotiations.
Multiple people have spoken out about Iger’s comments, and one of them is She-Hulk herself Tatiana Maslany. Maslany took to the picket lines to protest for better wages, and talking to THR, she shares her sentiments on Iger’s comment:
“I think he’s completely out of touch. He’s completely out of touch with the workers who make his shows happen, who make people watch these shows, who bring viewers to him and him money,” said Maslany, “I have friends who have been doing this for 30 to 40 years and have lost their health care because the minimums are so relatively low, but wages have gone down, people’s quotes no longer stand for anything… It’s just like we’ve been completely cast aside.””
Maslany is just one of several actors who have been protesting for better wages. A few weeks ago, Guardians of the Galaxy actor Sean Gunn had also gone off on Iger’s comments about the writers’ and actors’ strike being ‘deeply disturbing.’
For now, the strike has been going on for two months, and it doesn’t seem that the industry heads have shown any sign of backing down. You think they’ll really just use AI to replace everyone?
You can catch Maslany in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law now streaming on Disney+.
