While Superman does have a cameo in the end of Shazam!, we never really got to see his face since Henry Cavill wasn’t available to shoot the cameo. With all the excitement of Cavill’s return with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has decided to pander to fans and add Cavill to the end of his movie… sort of.
This is his post:
I know a lot of you asked for this but I’m not so sure this is an improvement. But hey, at least you can stop messaging me about it now. pic.twitter.com/Y4BdiJ2MjE

While I would definitely love to see Cavill in the film, I guess the cameo we got was funny enough and true to the nature of the movie. With rumors going around that Cavill is currently in talks with WB to make a Superman return, a lot of people are hoping that he makes some kind of cameo in the Shazam! sequel. While I don’t want to see a Captain Marvel v Superman yet, I think it would be cool if Superman would appear in some scenes to try and offer his advice to Billy; something in the same vein as Tony Stark appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
We don’t know where the sequel for Shazam! will go, but I’m guessing that we’re going to have Mister Mind take center stage as the main villain. While fans want a clash with the Rock’s Black Adam, it looks like we’ll have to wait for the third movie, seeing that Adam is set to get his own standalone first.
For now, Shazam! 2 is gearing up for a release in the fall of 2022. Henry Cavill’s Superman returns when Zack Snyder’s Justice League hits HBO Max in 2021.
