At some point, I wasn’t convinced the series was actually happening, but Spider-Noir is apparently in production, and first set photos of Nicolas Cage have come out online as Ben Reilly.
The photos come from Just Jared, and it has Cage in an old-timey 1950s outfit holding a newspaper from the Daily Bugle that says, “Silvermane Survives Skivvies.”
We have new photos of Nicolas Cage filming "Spider-Noir," and his Daily Bugle prop newspaper might officially reveal the show's villain!

The mention of Silvermane is actually interesting, because a possible synopsis did come out a few months ago about what the story could be, and Silvermane was said to be one of the main villains. Here’s what the leaked synopsis said:
“We follow Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a private investigator, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero. Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, which leads him to discover that the Mayor is up to something nefarious that involves crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.”
Admittedly, it’s disappointing that Cage doesn’t have his Spider-Noir costume on, but at his age, nobody is expecting him to be as nimble as one would expect Spider-Man to be. Some guess that Cage is going to be the main narrator of the story, and scenes where he’s Spider-Man are going to be flashbacks, played by a younger actor that can jump around and do more intricate fight scenes.
Seeing that Cage himself is a comic book fan, it’s great to see him working in projects like this. We don’t know exactly where it stands on Sony’s Spider-Verse, but I do commend them for trying some more experimental projects focused on obscure characters.
The Penguin is currently paying off for DC, and hopefully Spider-Noir does the same for the Spider-Man IP.
No release date has been set for Spider-Noir.
