Unfrosted: Seinfeld Directs Star-Studded Movie about the Creation of the Pop-Tart

Jerry Seinfeld may not have the same hold on pop-culture that he had back in the 90s, but he’s going to be coming back with a movie that’s filled to the brim with stars, on a topic that Seinfeld also has an infamous bit about—the Pop-Tart.

Here’s the trailer for the Seinfeld-directed Unfrosted:

Michigan, 1963. Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast. A tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar, and menacing milkmen, Unfrosted stars Jerry Seinfeld in his directorial debut.

Just in case you didn’t know about the connection between Seinfeld and Pop-Tarts, there is a video breakdown of him talking to The New York Times about how he wrote his bit about the breakfast food. Watch this:

Besides Seinfeld himself, the movie is chock full of stars including Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Fred Armisen, Cedric the Entertainer, Hugh Grant, and more. It’s unclear how much of this movie is going to be based on real life, but it’s funny to think of rivaling cereal companies and several different people representing cereal mascots like Snap, Crackle, and Pop as well as Tony the Tiger.

Admittedly, Seinfeld is not best known for his directing projects, but he is known to be a great writer; and it should show off in Unfrosted when it finally comes to Netflix in a few months. I’m just hoping Larry David shows up one way or another.

Unfrosted is set to hit streaming on Netflix this coming May 3.
