Star Wars: Daisy Ridley On Rumors of ‘New Jedi Order’ Movie Getting Delayed

Star Wars Sequel Trilogy fans have been getting their asses kicked since The Rise of Skywalker, and there has been rarely any Sequel Era content that’s been released since 2019.

It was announced that a ‘New Jedi Order’ movie was coming with Daisy Ridley onboard, but rumors have begun to swirl that the film has been put on hold by Lucasfilm, which have led some to think that there was a problem with the story.

Flash forward to Daisy Ridley talking to Premiere (via @sw_holocron), ensuring fans that she still believes in the story that she was pitched when they started development on the movie. She says, “If I didn’t think the story was worth telling, I wouldn’t have come back… If I hadn’t been convinced by the concept, the film wouldn’t have seen the light of day…”

No details have been revealed about the story yet, but fans do know that it’s going to come from writer Steven Knight, who is best known for his work on series Peaky Blinders. The director attached is also Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy who had recently collaborated with Marvel Studios for the series Ms. Marvel.

We don’t know what Rey could be up to right now, but it does look like she’s going to be following Luke’s steps and try to start her own Jedi order (again). I’m just hoping she does something different around this time because the ‘starting a new Jedi Order’ schtick is already Luke’s arc in The Mandalorian.

This is what Ridley had to say about what Rey could be doing right now: “…Two people told me in the same week that they would love to know what Rey was doing now. I had no idea that there was interest! People really like Rey. I think this new film will be exciting and will advance the franchise in an interesting way.”

No official canon updates have been made for Rey, but oddly enough, the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Specials do make room for her and is considered by some as ‘loose canon’.

Hopefully we get official updates soon.

Star Wars: New Jedi Order (tentative title) is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2026.
