Star Wars Episode IX is one of the most anticipated films of the year, but so far Lucasfilm hasn’t given us a single teaser—not even an official title. While everyone expects the reveal to come during Star Wars Celebration, a rumor is going around that the first teaser can be dropping sooner than we think.
FanthaTracks writes:
A major UK cinema chain has received a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) from Disney this morning called TT1-SW9, (Teaser Trailer 1 Star Wars 9). It’s encrypted with a KDM (Key Delivery Message) so they can’t view the contents until they get the key.
No news on when they’ll get the key, but they had the Aladdin trailer DCP for two weeks before it came out on Monday…therefore, Friday might be the day, but that’s pure speculation.
If we do the math and say that the teasers drop two weeks after the DCPs are sent out, then we should expect our first look at Episode IX this March 1. My guess is we get a short teaser and title reveal just like with Avengers: Endgame, then we get a full trailer drop come Celebration in April.
Of course, it’s also likely that this will just turn out to be a rumor, but fans have been so starved for updates for the film that they just cling on to whatever news they can find. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait for too long.
Star Wars Episode IX comes out Dec. 20.
