Rocksteady had redefined what a Batman game was supposed to be with their Arkham games, but they have since not been able to replicate that success—what with their latest failure with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
It’s not clear how Rocksteady is going to get out of the hole they’re in with the last game, but word has it that they’re going back to an ‘ol reliable title just like CDPR and their next Witcher game.
Replying to a post from The Game Awards, Xbox Era’s Nick Baker (@Shpeshal_Nick) has confirmed that Rocksteady is currently working on a new Batman game, and what’s more, Sony wants it to be a PlayStation exclusive. Here’s what he said:
Not sure which studio people’s dream is, but I heard Rocksteady are back making it. I also think Sony are trying to moneyhat it lol https://t.co/EfcyRKWdZI

So far, nothing official has been confirmed, but a new Batman game could be a good idea for Rocksteady. After all, he’s an established IP; but the spinoff games that were in the very same as the Arkham titles—Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad—didn’t really get the praise that the developers were expecting.
Then again, everyone thinks it has something to do with the developers forcing the games to do a live-service format. When it comes to the success of the Arkham games, they always had a great open world and some solid stories involving Batman and his roster of villains.
We don’t know how Rocksteady could approach a sequel, but they would need something new to make the series seem fresh. Even by Arkham Knight, the cracks were already beginning to show. How about a Batman Begins game set in Neo-Gotham?
A Batman game from Rocksteady has not been officially announced.
