Rick and Morty has tackled several holidays before from Christmas to Thanksgiving, and in a recent preview for the 8th season, it looks like they’re going to have their own special sci-fi twist with Easter.

The clip is essentially Rick and Morty finding a literal Easter Egg that could have some kind of galactic consequences, then they find themselves facing off with ‘space Christians’ who look to be sci-fi versions of the Knights Templar—complete with Cross Guns.
Besides the gag, the most important thing from the preview is that the 8th season is set to premiere on May 25. After skipping out 2024, it’s great that the series is coming back this year. Let’s just hope that Dan Harmon and his team have found a way to get the series coming out annually.
At this point, though there is a kind of serialized story that Rick and Morty has been following through the years, the series has been wild enough to be comfortable with standalone, conceptual episodes—which seem to have become co-creator Harmon’s signature style when it comes to the series.
With the last season being the first one without co-creator Justin Roiland, it does look like the team behind the show is committed to moving forward without him. Though it’s a shame that Roiland had to be fired from the series, the last season does prove that the series is more than just him.
