Star Wars: The Last Jedi had come out back in 2017, and the movie had just reached its 3-year anniversary. Though the film is a huge source of disdain from the ‘Fandom Menace’, there has been an outpouring of love for TLJ online, and director Rian Johnson has come out to thank the fans for all the support.
Plus, he makes the announcement with some photos he took during production. Check these out:
I’ve said it before and I ain’t done saying it, Star Wars fans are the BEST. Thanks for sharing all the kind thoughts today, can’t believe it’s been 3 years. Love you guys. pic.twitter.com/OhA2Q5G3Q2

Though a lot of the fandom online like to make out that The Last Jedi had ruined the Sequel Trilogy, it’s still a fact that the movie was a critical and financial success. We don’t know where these angry fans have all the energy to hate on the film after all these years, but you have to hand it to Johnson’s resilience. The fandom may have scared the likes of Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran off the internet, but Johnson is still making posts and even has the mettle to call Star Wars fans the “BEST.”
What an absolute madlad.
Though we haven’t gotten any updates on the trilogy that Johnson was announced to helm, a lot of people are still holding out hope that it’s going to happen down the line. With the way The Rise of Skywalker was so poorly received, a lot of people consider Johnson’s deconstruction of the Star Wars mythos to its core elements as the right direction. Hopefully Disney and Lucasfilm agree to that moving forward. I mean, the Disney+ series should keep ‘fans’ satiated so they don’t trash on the films too hard.
In the meantime, catch The Mandalorian Seaosn 2 now on Disney+.
