Red Band Trailer for Gen V Promises More R-Rated Superhero Hijinks

Fans may have to wait a bit longer for the next season of The Boys, but Amazon Prime Video is looking to milk the Vought Universe with spinoffs galore. This month will see the premiere of the college-level spinoff Gen V, and the series promises all the kinds of superhero shenanigans you can expect from The Boys only this time, everyone is in college.

Watch the latest Red Band trailer:

Here’s the official description for the series:

Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally.

Though we won’t expect to have appearances from characters like Billy Butcher or Homelander, the trailer does confirm that we’ll be getting a lot of supporting cast members appearing in the show like Ashley and the rest of the Vought PR team. Who knows, maybe there’s even room there for Jack Quaid’s Hughie to show up; granted he isn’t busy shooting more guest appearances on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

With The Boys having some very sharp commentary on superhero franchises, I’m hopeful that Gen V will manage to set itself apart as a spinoff. Kind of how Better Call Saul carved out its own reputation outside of Breaking Bad.

Gen V premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 29.
