We’ve gotten all kinds of Pokemon properties throughout the years from live-action films to anime, but these pocket monsters are going to be breaking new ground with stop-motion animation.
Check out the delightfully colorful trailer for Netflix’s Pokemon Concierge:
Set at a resort for Pokémon on a southern island, this is the story of a new concierge named Haru, who gradually discovers herself as she and her fellow staff members scramble to attend to the various Pokémon guests.
Karen Fukuhara (The Boys) will be providing the voice of the lead girl Haru with other cast members including Josh Keaton (Spectacular Spider-Man) and Imani Hakim (Mythic Quest) also lending their voices.
Anyone who’s also a fan of retro Japanese city pop will also recognize Plastic Love singer Mariya Takeuchi who is providing the theme for the series titled Have a Good Time Here.
With the Pokemon franchise being all about the different Pokemon doing battle with each other, it is kind of relaxing to just watch a show where the Pokemon can just relax and do silly things with their powers without having to fight.
The overall feel of the show feels very light and colorful, and I’m sure a lot of Pokemon fans who aren’t so keen on the fighting aspect of the franchise will enjoy just looking at the different Pokemon and how they’re wrangled around the resort by Haru.
For a series that looks all tropical and hot, it does have a release around the cold holiday season. Pokemon Concierge premieres on Netflix this coming Dec. 28.
