After The Hobbit trilogy essentially broke him, Peter Jackson has been working on documentaries as of late. After his work on restoring old footage with They Shall Not Grow Old, Jackson is going to be handling a documentary on the Fab Four with The Beatles: Get Back. The movie is set to come out sometime next year, and Jackson has decided to give us a sneak peek into the film to cap off the Christmas Week.
Watch this:
Acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson’s “The Beatles: Get Back” is a unique cinematic experience that takes audiences back in time to The Beatles’ intimate recording sessions during a pivotal moment in music history…
Jackson also had this to say about the documentary, “We wanted to give the fans of The Beatles all over the world a holiday treat, so we put together this five-minute sneak peek at our upcoming theatrical film ‘The Beatles: Get Back.’ We hope it will bring a smile to everyone’s faces and some much-needed joy at this difficult time.”
While I do want to watch Peter Jackson tackle something like Lord of the Rings again, I guess it’s just great that he found something he’s very passionate about when it comes to documentaries. After the shitstorm that was the production of The Hobbit, I think Jackson would want a much-deserved break from Middle-Earth for now.
In the meantime, this documentary looks very interesting, and the footage looks amazing. While the Beatles had infamously broke up back in 1970, it’s great to watch these musicians still collaborating and looking like they’re having a blast making music together.
The Beatles: Get Back is set to come out in theaters Aug. 27, 2021.
