If Millenials had Harry Potter, then Gen-Z had Percy Jackson and the Olympians. It had taken a lot of effort to get a new adaptation from Disney+, and it looks like the House of Mouse is ready for more.
As per Variety, Disney has decided to renew Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a second season. The show had garnered a lot of great reviews from critics, and has accrued over 110 million hours streamed across Hulu and Disney+.
For now, it’s expected that the show will adapt one book in the series for each season, with the first covering the events of The Lightning Thief. With the second season, we’re expected to jump into the story of Sea of Monsters.
With the Percy Jackson movie franchise failing to take off on the box office, fans are certainly excited to see more of this adaptation continue. Let’s hope Disney has enough faith in the project to allow the team to complete the entire story creator Rick Riordan wants to tell.
Percy Jackson & The Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Catch the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
