The third season of Overwatch had teased a Valetine’s event with Hanzo, and now we get to see his Cupid version with what Blizzard is dubbing Loverwatch: Love Never Dies.
Apparently, they’ve made a dating sim out of the characters, and we get a look at it here:
So far, the game looks like it’s only dealing with three characters, Genji, Mercy, and Hanzo, and while I suspect that it will be about the teased romance between Genji and Mercy, it looks like the characters talk to the player themselves.
There’s even a cheeky joke with Genji needing healing, which is apparently still a thing even with Overwatch 2.
Admittedly Overwatch 2 didn’t make the best transition to free-to-play with a lot of longtime fans complaining about the new Battle Pass. With the third season though, players now have a chance to earn some Overwatch Credits which will allow them to buy any cosmetics of their choosing, instead of the earlier Battle Pass that only gave players pre-determined prizes.
Original director Jeff Kaplan may not be onboard anymore, but I’m hoping that the new team behind the game manages to give Overwatch a long stay among the gaming community—or at least we finally get that animated film.

Loverwatch is currently available for desktop browsers. Overwatch 2 is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
