Hey may be playing opposite himself in Moon Knight, but Oscar Isaac’s first role under the Disney banner was that of hotshot pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. We don’t know when Lucasfilm plans to revisit that era of SW, but Isaac does have some conditions about his return.
Talking to SiriusXM, Isaac says that a lot of factors have led to him being too busy to work on a franchise like Star Wars, but he does say:
“I don’t know. I’m open to anything, you never know… If there was a great story and a great director and Kathy [Kennedy] came to me and was like, ‘hey we’ve got this idea I’m so so into…”
At least he’s keeping the door open for projects like that. While actors like Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are expected to make returns, I doubt that someone like Adam Driver would be enthusiastic to come back as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo—especially counting on how serious he is on and off-camera.
For now, Lucasfilm has not been publicly showing any signs of wanting to revisit the Sequel era, but there have been some speculation and rumors. While the Disney+ shows have been more Prequel/Original Trilogy aligned, some think that the upcoming theatrically released films are going to focus on the ST era. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but I think The Rise of Skywalker definitely ended in a tone that Rey Skywalker’s story is only just beginning.
The next Star Wars project, Andor is set to premiere on Disney+ on Sept. 21.
