It’s been four years since we got the first season of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens, and now Amazon Prime Video is gearing up for a second season which is set to premiere next month.
Just in, Amazon has dropped the opening title for Good Omens 2, and it teases a new story following Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale (Michael Sheen). Watch this:
Though the first season of the series had followed the events of the original book faithfully, Polygon reports that second season is going to be a completely original story of Gaiman and Pratchett, following a plot for a sequel that they never wrote.
While it’s not a trailer for the second season, creative director Peter Anderson did confirm that the opening does give hints at where the story is expected to go. He says, “We started the sequence for series two as a direct follow on from series one… The content of the titles was an obsessively detailed telling of the new series story with a few gems for the avid fan.”
For comparison, here’s the opening for the first season:
Good Omens is just another one of several Gaiman properties that have found themselves adapted within the decade. Besides Good Omens, we had gotten the adaptation of Sandman on Netflix, as well as Starz’s American Gods.
Admittedly, it took a while for the second season of Good Omens to happen, but with so many people loving the chemistry between Crowley and Arizaphale, you can’t blame Amazon for ordering a Season 2.
Good Omens 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on July 28.
