Ubisoft is best known for making these massive-scale Assassin’s Creed games, and now they’re taking those resources and bringing to life a world set in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to come out later this year, and we have our first official story trailer since the announcement back in June 2023. Check this out:
The official description for the game reads:
Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars™ game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.
Though most Star Wars games concern the fight between the Empire and the Rebellion, Star Wars Outlaws is unique in that we get to look at the crime syndicates, who are every bit just as ferocious and dangerous. But just like with Han Solo, we should always expect some scoundrels to be leaning closer to a specific side.
Based on what’s revealed in the trailer, we know that this is going to be taking place between the events of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (hence Han in Carbonite), and I’m guessing we could be seeing more cameos down the line besides Han Solo and Jabba.
Are people not sick of Boba Fett yet? How about someone from The Mandalorian like Din Djarin or Bill Burr?
Star Wars Outlaws launches on Aug. 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
