The movie had already found a Dumbledore and Snape, and now Deadline is reporting that Nick Frost (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) is being eyed for the role of Hogwarts groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid.
Should Frost land the part, he would be joining a cast that already includes John Lithgow (Dumbledore), Paapa Essiedu (Snape), and Janet McTeer (McGonagall). For now, it does look like the series is concerned with casting the faculty, since they will be appearing as regulars in future seasons.
Besides the Hogwarts staff, the series would also have to think long-term in casting the Dursleys, the Weasleys, and other recurring characters like the Malfoys and Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge. It will probably be a while before they start casting for members of the Order of the Phoenix.
For now, a lot of fans are extremely sceptical that the series will manage to finish the whole story again. With the original movies so well-regarded, it’s said that the series reboot is still going to keep most of the aesthetics (and even the music) the same in order to make sure the theme parks and merch are still relevant.
I was personally in the camp of just expanding the world, but seeing as how Fantastic Beasts just fizzled out in the box office, it looks like the execs wanted a sure hit that mines on fan nostalgia—which worked out so well for the Star Wars universe.
No release date has been set for the Potter reboot, but it does seem like they’re aiming for a 2026 premiere.
]]>A24 is going to be exploring fantasy-adventure territory with their upcoming film The Legend of Ochi, and a new look has been dropped highlighting the puppetry used to bring the character of Ochi to life. Check this out:
“As we were shooting, you could see all five puppeteers standing around in plain clothes, and if you looked at the puppet, you were like, ‘That’s a real living thing,’” explains writer/director Isaiah Saxon.
By the looks of it, it does seem like Ochi is going to be a practical puppet, and there’s also going to be adult members of its species that could also be puppets or maybe just grown people in costumes.
Though A24 is best known for their more mature, cineaphile-targetted movies, Ochi looks to be a kid-friendly fantasy adventure. “There’s a slow dial that gets turned up towards fantasy and magic over the course of the film,” says Saxon, “Growing up I felt that the deepest mysteries were found in nature, and I hope to share that same feeling that anything is possible.”
The film definitely does harken to that ET/Where the Wild Things Are vibe, and it also helps that Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard also has a role in the film. Willem Dafoe’s character also looks like a kook, and that’s kind of the best roles for him that are pretty fun to watch.
The Legend of Ochi is expected to hit theaters on April 25
]]>According to The Nine Club podcast (via VGC), it’s been revealed that Margera was going to be appearing in the game after all. The show’s co-host Roger Bagley explained:
“Well, here’s what happened… The game was already done. Tony called up Activision and was like ‘hey, we’re putting Bam in the thing’, and they were like ‘hey, we can’t’.
“He goes ‘no, you’re gonna do it’, and basically made them fly Bam back out there to get body-scanned and everything else, and get him back in the game.”
Margera and Hawk had been friends for a while via their pro skater status, and Margera had been a regular fixture in the games since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. Though he had only been a side character for most of it, his Jackass and Viva La Bam fame had led to him being one of the co-leads for Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 with the World Destruction Tour campaign.
Though Margera had seen quite the fall ever since he was fired from Jackass Forever, it does seem like he’s been cleaning himself up lately, and he’s also been sharing some videos with Hawk of him skateboarding again.
Margera’s glory days may be over, but it’s nice that Hawk can still help out a friend who is on his way to recovery.
Watch out for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 when it launches for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5 on July 11.

Deadline reports that Erik Per Sullivan, who had played the third Wilkerson child Dewey will not be returning to play the role. Sullivan had reportedly quit acting way back in 2010, and now the part will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, who admittedly looks the part.
Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is set to take over the role of Dewey in the 'MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE' revival series.
He replaces Erik Per Sullivan, who hasn't acted since 2010.

(@PoppedNews) March 25, 2025
Though Dewey has been recast, original cast members Christopher Masterson (Francis) and Justin Berfield (Reese) are going to be coming back to reprise their roles. They’ll be joining a cast which includes Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek.
For context, Malcolm in the Middle was a hit sitcom back in the early 2000s which focuses on Malcolm, the middle child of a dysfunctional American family. Malcolm is incredibly smart, but his family is shown to have constant struggles with poverty, and it doesn’t help that Malcolm’s brothers are also kind of dumb in their own way.
Besides Frankie Muniz, the show was also a platform for Bryan Cranston to become one of TV’s most beloved dads. It’s insane how a few years later he would blow everyone away by becoming drug kingpin Walter White in Breaking Bad.
The revival will only fun for four episodes, but hopefully it gives fans a nice update on where the Wilkersons will be after all these years.
No release date has been set for the Malcolm in the Middle revival, but it’s expected to come to Disney+ sometime soon.
]]>In a recent interview with GQ (via Variety), Affleck shares:
“I am not interested in going down that particular genre again, not because of that bad experience, but just: I’ve lost interest in what was of interest about it to me. But I certainly wouldn’t want to replicate an experience like that. A lot of it was misalignment of agendas, understandings, expectations…”
Besides playing Batman for the main DCEU, Affleck was also set to direct his own movie before deciding that it was all too much of a hassle with all the studio drama. That being said, he does admit that maybe some of the blame should go his way. He continues:
“… And also by the way, I wasn’t bringing anything particularly wonderful to that equation at the time, either. I had my own failings, significant failings, in that process and at that time… in terms of why I had a bad experience, part of it is that what I was bringing to work every day was a lot of unhappiness. So I wasn’t bringing a lot of positive energy to the equation. I didn’t cause problems, but I came in and I did my job and I went home. But you’ve got to do a little bit better than that.”
Affleck’s last chance playing Bruce Wayne was in the Flash movie that eventually flopped. While a lot of people did bash the film mainly for Ezra Miller, I definitely thought the story had a lot of heart, and Affleck’s Bruce Wayne had a good sendoff—if you could call it that.
It’s a shame that Affleck had a bad experience as Batman, but he could be rest assured that his version is one that has thousands of fans backing it; and hopefully he gets a change of heart in the next few years.
]]>While some are slowly accepting the series may not be coming back, new data suggests that there is actually a lot of fan demand for a second season, and it may be one of the most successful series to come out on Disney+ when it did.
According to Parrot Analytics (via @swholocron), The Acolyte was in demand in the US 20.4 times the market average in the past 30 days. As it turns out, the only series that have been able to make those numbers were held by 2.7% of the streaming service’s shows.
Back when news of the cancellation had come out, there was already a strong #RenewTheAcolyte movement online; but some were saying that the cancellation meant that it was because the series had cost a lot of money, and it wasn’t worth the returns that Disney+ was reporting.
Even if that was the case, there was nothing but great things being said about the show, and it did deliver on the Prequel era lightsaber action that has been missing from series like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
We don’t know what Disney is going to do with this information, but it does seem like more things are getting cancelled now unless they’re a Stranger Things-level hit. Fingers crossed The Acolyte 2 gets the greenlight anyway.

]]>While Marvel Studios and Sony are cooking, rumors are going around online surrounding possible plot points for the film. One of the latest ones to come from @MyTimeToShineH is that the next main villain could be a woman this time. Check out the post:
Spider-Man 4 will have a FEMALE main villain. It's NOT Sadie Sink. They already have someone cast. Announcement imminent. pic.twitter.com/RRRhsMJk4k
— MyTimeToShineHello (@MyTimeToShineH) March 20, 2025
While no further details have been revealed, the source also says that Sadie Sink isn’t playing the main villain, so it’s possible that she could just be another love interest for Peter Parker; though it’s doubtful that she could be the ‘real’ MJ Watson like some would suggest.
As for the female villain, a lot of fans are assuming that it could be Black Cat. Though she did have some kind of fling with Peter in the comics, it has been said that she is more in love with the Spider-Man persona and not Peter—which made the pairing ultimately doomed.
Personally, I’m up for a genderbent version of any classic villain that hasn’t been presented in the MCU yet like Doc Ock or Lizard; but I also wouldn’t be opposed to Dakota Johnson returning as Madame Web just to be some kind of other mentor figure for Peter.
After the highs of No Way Home, fans are worried that Sony will just want to keep milking the multiverse concept to death. Hopefully we get something street-level again soon to really come back to the roots of the MCU Peter Parker like with Homecoming.
Watch out for Spider-Man 4 when it hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
]]>The series premieres on April 12, and a new trailer has been dropped promising another crazy adventure with the Doctor. Check this out:
Though Gatwa’s Doctor was supposed to be partnered up with Millie Gibson for a while, they only managed to last for one season before Gibson had to leave the show. Now Sethu is taking over as new character Belinda Chandra, and it looks like she’s going to be having some very experimental stories with the Doctor this time—including an animated one.
Though there are some that testify that one Doctor is better than the other, each Doctor from David Tennant to Jodie Whittaker have their own fanbase who started the series when they were kids. It’s kind of like He-Man or Ninja Turtles that the property gets rebooted every few years so that a new generation of children can fall in love with the franchise.
It’s a bit silly as an adult to try and have strong opinions on Who because it’s honestly just a sci-fi show aimed at children with occasional historical hijinx and crazy low-budget aliens.
I do have to say though, it’s pretty cool that they got a way for Gatwa to just put on different outfits every episode because it might have been a pain to just keep him boxed into one outfit for his entire run.
Doctor Who premieres on the BBC and Disney+ on April 12.
]]>The series is set to release its second and final season, and the latest trailer is more on the traditional side (compared to the first trailer which had more upbeat rock). Check this out:
While the trailer is very vague on where things will go in the series, everyone knows that it’s all pointing to the events in Rogue One. Director Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is going to make his appearance in this series, and it’s also been confirmed that Saw Gerrera is now in his partisan base in Jedha (the same planet from Rogue One).
It also looks like Andor and Luthen are falling deeper into their Rebellion hole, and it’s possible that Luthen is gearing up for something more terrible to happen so that people will finally stand up and fight against the Empire. By the time Rogue One starts, Andor is actually one of the more morally corrupt soldiers, so maybe this series is going to end with him fully embracing that role and making the sacrifices for the greater good—something he eventually gets out of by the end of Rogue One.
As a Last Jedi enjoyer, Andor was one of my fave series to come out on Disney+. Emotionally it’s very powerful, and the themes are very solid. We don’t know if there’ll ever be another show like it, but I’m hoping Lucasfilm has more space for it in the future.
The second and final season of Andor premieres on Disney+ on April 22.
]]>Though no deal has been made, artist @jaeon009 has shared some mock-ups online, and they may as well get paid by NetEase for these because they look marvellous. Check these out:
MARVEL RIVALS VS CAPCOM!
I'd probably be broke if they made something like this for real.#MarvelRivals #MVC #Capcom pic.twitter.com/gSPhEI5ENo

The list of characters include:
The last mainline entry in the MvC franchise, MvC: Infinite, came out in 2017 and was considered a moderate entry at best. With a lot of time since that release though, Marvel vs. Capcom is primed for a comeback, and the successful release of the collection recently is supposed to give an idea of how popular MvC still is when it comes to the gaming community.
Going back to Marvel Rivals though, it’s still unclear what the devs have planned for the future after Season 1, but a collab with Capcom could definitely work. Heck, it can fill up a whole season if they really wanted to.
Marvel Rivals is now available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
]]>Production is already completed for the second season, but the series has gotten caught in a snag as they have lost their co-showrunner Matt Owens. Here’s the announcement he posted on his IG:
View this post on Instagram
While some think that this could be Owens quitting the show, his statement does read like he would come back after a break. We don’t know exactly how long that would take, but if he would be quitting post-production, it probably means that things aren’t going that smoothly behind-the-scenes.
Admittedly, Netflix hasn’t always seen eye-to-eye when it comes to creatives. Most famously, original Avatar creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko were developing the live-action Airbender series, but they ended up quitting due to creative differences.
Could the same kind of clashes be happening behind-the-scenes of One Piece?
Whenever news comes out that a showrunner leaves their series, fans are always worried about what that means for the show. Until Netflix makes an official update on One Piece, fans are just going to have to wait and see what that means for the quality of the live-aciton series.
Despite the success of Season 1, a lot do admit that the show wasn’t perfect, so maybe a few changes could be beneficial this time around. Despite being the lead, the series did have to gold back on showcasing Luffy’s powers, and I was hoping the second season would show some more fantastical abilities onscreen.
No release date has been set for One Piece Season 2.
]]>As per the official announcement, Coco 2 is in the works. Check this out:
Disney and Pixar’s Coco 2 is officially in the works! pic.twitter.com/BtLzn2oIFP
— Pixar (@Pixar) March 20, 2025
Admittedly, a lot of fans were perplexed that a sequel would just be titled Coco 2. After all, the Coco in the title was supposed to be Miguel’s grandmother who dies at the end of the movie. She’s not even that much of a character, and more of a emotional mcguffin for Miguel and Hector.
If the movie is going to be titled Coco 2, does it mean that Miguel gets a new family member down the line that is also named Coco? Instead of the death, is the sequel going to explore the concept of Life? I doubt they’re going to try and resurrect Coco.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a sequel following the story of a young Coco who is trying to connect to her lost father, but Coco 2 does sound like a title that would bring the story forward rather than just look back.
Hopefully Pixar reveals more down the line. They must be pretty confident with what they have to touch a movie that’s pretty solid on its own.
So far no official release date has been announced for Coco 2, but Pixar is now gearing up for their next movie Elio which comes to cinemas on June 20.
]]>Though Zoe Saldana essentially owns the role of Gamora, the part was actually offered first to Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia), but she turned the role down because she said she ‘didn’t want to be in Marvel’s first bomb.’
In a recent interview with Happy Sad Confused, Seyfried admitted that she passed on the role because she didn’t want to spend too much time on the make-up chair–plus she thought the movie wasn’t going to be a hit. She explains:
“I was really scared of the idea of being stuck and painted a different color because of the amount of time that the X-Men people had been [on the makeup chair].”
There was also the case that Seyfried didn’t think the movie was going to be a success either. She continued, “I definitely got the offer for it, and I definitely milled over it for a couple of days, but I didn’t want to live in London for six months out of the year… Let’s also remember, being part of a Marvel movie—the first Marvel movie that bombs ain’t good for your career. I thought that because this was about a talking tree and a talking raccoon that it was gonna be Marvel’s first bomb and that Chris Pratt and I would never work again. I was wrong. I was just being smart, not brave… I was way too scared.”
For now, Seyfried is still out of the Marvel Studios bubble, but with more properties getting adapted, it may only be a matter of time before she eventually joins the fray.
As for the Gamora character, it looks like she’s been officially retired from the MCU, but there are still plans for the Guardians to return (as well as a possible Star-Lord spinoff). Hopefully Marvel finds someone else to take it over.
Personally, I think ex-Ant-Man director Edgar Wright would be a great choice for a new Guardians team, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
The next Marvel Studios film, Thunderbolts* is set to release on May 2.
]]>The series was just recently syndicated over to Netflix, and surprisingly, it managed to pick up a huge viewership. According to ScreenRant, Halo has managed to gather 4.2 million viewers, culminating in 32.1 million hours watched. The series managed to land at No. 4 of Netflix’s Top 10.
Back when Halo came out on Paramount+, reviews for the show were divisive to say the least. People who had played the game weren’t happy with how the series tried to shake things up and tell its own story; while people who were unfamiliar with the franchise liked what they saw and were disappointed when it was announced that the series was cancelled.
For now, some fans are hoping that Netflix eventually picks Halo up for a third season, but if you ask me, it’s better if they just go for a big-budget movie with all the big production bells and whistles. If they can manage to spend 300 million on The Electric State, a completely new property, then they might be pulling a safe bet with Halo which is an iconic pop-culture franchise.
It should be able to scratch that sci-fi itch for fans while they wait for Zack Snyder to make more of his Rebel Moon movies. Are they even making any more?
Catch Halo now streaming on Netflix.
]]>Elio is set to come to theaters this June, and a new trailer has been dropped highlighting Elio and an unlikely friendship with an alien worm. Check this out:
This summer, moviegoers will meet Elio, an 11-year-old whose biggest wish is to get abducted by aliens, as well as his Aunt Olga (voiced by recent Academy Award Winner, Zoe Saldaña), and Glordon, Elio’s unexpected first friend who happens to be an alien. In this big-screen adventure, Elio will travel millions of miles across the universe encountering and a host of out-of-this world creatures who just might help him figure out exactly where he belongs.
Though earlier trailers have just shown Elio being whisked away into space and being mistaken for a diplomat, this latest preview gives more of the story, with Elio being shown to be kind of an antisocial weirdo; plus, we also get a look at his friend Glordon who seems to be going through his own issues with parental expectations.
Admittedly, Pixar has been hit-and-miss as far as their latest track record, but I think they have more hits worth watching out for. For every Luca and Turning Red, there’s always bound to be an Onward. We don’t know where Elio will fall in that category, but I always prefer that the studio try something new rather than just keep pursuing sequels/spinoffs like Lightyear and Finding Dory.
Catch Disney Pixar’s Elio when it comes to cinemas on June 20.
]]>The movie will be the first theatrically released Star Wars film since The Rise of Skywalker, and it had a very unique title when it comes to Disney-era Star Wars—it’s going to be the cheapest movie produced since Revenge of the Sith.
According to Collider, Mando and Grogu has a budget of $166.4 million, significantly lower than the budgets for all the Disney era Star Wars films that have released since 2015. Compare that also to the Prequel Trilogy whose cheapest movie, ROTS, had a budget of $113 million.
Here’s the budget for other Star Wars movies for comparison:
Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope | 1977 | $11 million |
Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back | 1980 | $18 million |
Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi | 1983 | $32.5 million |
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace | 1999 | $115 million |
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones | 2002 | $115 million |
Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith | 2005 | $113 million |
Star Wars: The Force Awakens | 2015 | $245 million |
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story | 2016 | $200 million |
Star Wars: The Last Jedi | 2017 | $317 million |
Solo: A Star Wars Story | 2018 | $275 million |
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker | 2019 | $275 million |
The Mandalorian and Grogu | 2026 | $166.4 million |
It is worth noting that Mandalorian was one of the shows to pioneer the use of the Volume, and it’s possible that this could be the reason why production was able to save costs. Besides not having to find as many locations, the lead character having his face hidden constantly also allows for multiple scenes to be shot simultaneously—saving lots of time and money for production. It’s also what makes The Mandalorian so cleverly crafted from a practical standpoint.
Admittedly, a lot of fans have logged out of the Mando/Grogu story ever since they reunited the two in Book of Boba Fett, but if all they want to bring is a spectacle, the big screen is surely the place to check it out when it comes to Star Wars.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to come to cinemas on May 22, 2026.
]]>With Majors’ rep seemingly going back up though, rumors have been going around that Marvel is willing to bring Majors back to finish off his Kang character, and Majors himself seems to be open to the idea. Talking to Variety, he said:
“I just appreciate [Marvel head Kevin Feige]. I just love him. I loved my time at Marvel, and I still love Kang. I’m watching them. I see what they’re doing and I’m pulling for them. If they need me, they know where I’m at.”
Though Kang was originally supposed to be the main villain in the next Avengers movie, Marvel had decided to scrap that idea to have the main focus be on Dr. Doom, who is played by a returning Robert Downey Jr.
Now rumors are going around that Marvel wants to wrap up Kang’s story properly with Majors, but it will likely end up with the Council of Kangs getting killed off by Doom to establish how much of a threat Doom is going to be.
As someone who was all-in on the Kang Dynasty announcement, I was honestly disappointed that Marvel didn’t just decide to recast Majors. But with these rumors flying around, I just hope they cap off the character properly after all these years of build-up ultimately led to nothing.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to come out May 1, 2026. Magazine Dreams starring Jonathan Majors comes out in theaters on March 21.
]]>Garland co-directs the movie with Iraq war veteran Ray Mendoza and a new special look has been dropped for the film. Check this out:
The movie has a star-studded cast which includes the likes of D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Charles Melton, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Joseph Quinn, and Noah Centineo. With Mendoza also telling the story from his POV, Warfare is expected to be as close as possible to the actual events of the Battle of Ramadi—which is considered to be one of the bloodiest battles in Iraq.
As it turns out, Mendoza had worked with Garland on his movie Civil War, and they had ended up discussing Warfare while they were in production for that project. A year after the release, Mendoza gets to tell his story on the big screen.
Garland is considered to be a modern auteur, and it really shines in Civil War. We don’t know what to expect with Warfare exactly, but I bet it’s going to be one heck of a ride.
Here’s the official description for Warfare:
A platoon of Navy SEALs embark on a dangerous mission in Ramadi, Iraq, with the chaos and brotherhood of war retold through their memories of the event.
Catch Warfare in cinemas when it comes out April 11.
]]>While a lot of attested to their value for a production, there are some that have expressed their disdain for the need of an intimacy coordinator. The latest to say so? Gwyneth Paltrow.
Talking to Vanity Fair, Paltrow shared, “There’s now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed… I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’ ”
As it turns out, Paltrow had a lot of sex scenes with Timothee Chalamet (Dune) for this upcoming movie Marty Supreme, and they ended up waving the intimacy coordinator away. Paltrow explains, “We said, ‘I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back,’… I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but…if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here’ ”—she lays a milky-manicured hand on her own shoulder—“I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that.” She mostly shrugs at simulating all of that sex with Chalamet: “I was like, ‘Okay, great. I’m 109 years old. You’re 14.’ ”
Most recently, Anora actress Mikey Madison had made headlines when she said they didn’t use an intimacy coordinator for her scenes in Anora. “It was a choice that I made,” said Madison, and she and the producers decided that, “… It would be best just to keep it small. We were able to streamline it, shoot it super quickly.”
Sean Baker, who directed Anora, had this to say about intimacy coordination being a choice for actors:
“I think with intimacy coordination, it’s a case-by-case basis, film-by film-basis. If an actor requests one, 100%. But I have directed approximately 10 sex scenes throughout my career, and I’m very comfortable doing so. It is our No. 1 priority to keep our actors safe, protected, comfortable and involved in the process.”
Looks like in Paltrow’s case, she doesn’t need one; but I wonder what young Timothee was thinking at the time.
]]>Here’s the official teaser for LEGO Pokemon:
Before anyone is confused thinking that this would be a game, it’s been confirmed that the announcement is for some themed sets that are expected to launch next year.
Most recently, the license for block toys had belonged to Mega, but now it looks like the Pokemon Company wants to team up with the biggest block brand around. The LEGO Group’s chief product and marketing officer Julia Goldin had this to say about the collab:
“We strongly believe that through the endless possibilities of Lego play and the exciting adventures the world of Pokémon brings, this partnership will create a range of new possibilities for Trainers and builders alike.”
We don’t know exactly what LEGO is going to come up with, but by the looks of the teaser, Pokemon fans may be able to expect some builds of popular Pokemon characters. Maybe there could be sets for in-game locations like Pokemon centers or a gym.
Previous Nintendo brands that LEGO has managed to collab with include The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. Hopefully they’ll be able to come up with some interesting LEGO sets, seeing as there are already several Pokemon block toys that have been out for a while.
The LEGO Pokemon sets are expected to launch sometime next year.
