House of the Dragon is about to end, and Amazon is now ready to strike while the iron is hot for the next season of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Reveals have been going steady for the show to hype up the August premiere, and we just got a new featurette highlighting the creation of the rings. Check this out:
With the first season ending with the creation of the elven rings, this featurette confirms that the dwarven rings will also be forged in this season.
I’ll admit, I’m kind of confused about Celembrimbor working with Sauron again since he got outed in the first season, but it looks like the elven blacksmith just doesn’t realize that this new ‘gift-giver’ wasn’t the same guy that screwed them over back in the first season.
With the first season of TROP having to compete with House of the Dragon when it came out, it was pretty smart for Amazon to actually wait out the second season of HOTD before premiering TROP 2. Despite the prestige of the LOTR franchise, it doesn’t manage to generate as much online buzz compared to the more scandalous plot points like a dragon princess getting seduced by her uncle.
After some time with the first season to rest, maybe more people are now ready to jump back into Middle-earth with the next season of Rings of Power.
Here’s the official description for Season 2 of TROP:
Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.
Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.
Watch out for Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Aug. 29.
