It took a while to get off the ground, but the live-action Masters of the Universe movie is finally happening, and the film is aiming for a 2026 release date.
Though no official promo footage has been shared, a new photo has come out online of stars Nicholas Galtizine (He-Man) and Camila Mendes (Teela) training with none other than Hafþór Björnsson of Game of Thrones fame. Check them out:

Bjornsson himself is going to be in the movie as Goat Man, and other cast members include Idris Elba (Man-at-Arms), Morena Baccarin (The Sorceress), Jared Leto (Skeletor), and Alison Brie (Evil-lyn).
The movie is also being directed by Travis Knight, who is best known for his work on animation, but was also at the helm for the live-action Bumblebee movie.
For now, a lot of Galtizine’s fans from his work on Red, White, and Royal Blue are mourning his ‘twink death’, but it does seem that he’s managed to gain a lot of muscle for the role of He-Man, which is no doubt going to be demanding peak Arnold Schwarzenegger-levels of muscular.
I’m just hoping they manage to get the right tone of the film for children and adult fans. Though at its core MOTU was a series made to sell toys for children; the grown-up fanbase now kind of demands a story that’s satisfying for them. I though the Kevin Smith MOTU series was actually a good balance of the tone when it comes to He-Man, but we don’t know what to expect from this movie yet.
With a release set for 2026, it’s possible we’ll have to wait longer until an official look.
Watch out for Masters of the Universe when it comes to theaters on June 5, 2026.
