The first trailer for Killers of the Flower Moon had teased a serious drama about the Osage Nation back in the 1920s, but a new trailer for the film embraces more of director Martin Scorsese’s signature gangster action—like Boardwalk Empire with Native Americans.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:
Based on David Grann’s broadly lauded best-selling book, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.
Though the first trailer for the film had focused on Lily Gladstone’s character and how her people had been subject to violence by the wealthy oil tycoons, this new trailer actually shows the Osage people fighting back, and we see them pull if off with some old-timey gangster methods like arson and murder.
Admittedly, Scorsese doesn’t always need to have gangsters in his movie, with films like Silence and Shutter Island, but I was actually surprised to discover that Flower Moon was actually going to be telling that kind of story.
Besides Gladstone, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert De Niro, the film also includes actors Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion. We also have a look at Brendan Fraser, albeit he isn’t as huge as we saw him in Aronofsky’s The Whale.
Killers of the Flower Moon is set to hit theaters on Oct. 6.
