Besides Invincible, Amazon had another violent animated property with The Legend of Vox Machina. The second season is set for a release next year, and NYCC 2022 had given us a new clip which showcases the arrival of some dragons in Exandria.
Watch the season 2 trailer for The Legend of Vox Machina down here:
Admittedly, the clip is kind of tame for a series like Vox Machina, which is supposed to lean in on the R-rated, semi-improv nature that Dungeons and Dragons can bring to the world of fantasy. We don’t have a complete breakdown of the story for season 2 yet, but we should expect the show to have some kind of silly take on the arrival of two fearsome dragons.
For a clip that should hype up the series premiere, you’d think they’d show more characters besides Grog, Pike, and Scanlan. I guess there’s a glimpse of Vex, but she doesn’t really say anything.
Though House of the Dragon may currently be dominating in terms of adult fantasy, Vox Machina provides some much-needed levity to the genre while at the same time not feeling too kid-friendly
They’re rowdy, they’re ragtag, they’re misfits turned mercenaries for hire. Vox Machina is more interested in easy money and cheap ale than actually protecting the realm. But when the kingdom is threatened by evil, this boisterous crew realizes that they are the only ones capable of restoring justice. What began as a simple payday is now the origin story behind Exandria’s newest heroes.
The Legend of Vox Machina returns to Amazon Prime Video this January 2023.
